Why is every single successful AAA Xbox 360 game considered overrated?

ur looking at the overall package, the game isnt overrated in that sense, its overrated in a gameplay sense, its nothing extrordinary, its a game designed for casuals and a game designed to be as fun as possible.. halo executes this well

the issue is people brag about halo's status as if its something left to us by a god, people then realize "wait.. xx is better than halo why doesnt it get that sort of praise?" the overrated aspect then comes in.. first person shooters are typically supposed to be competitive, halo fails in that respect compared to other shooters, and on that standard its not as good as the others, its just a game thats good for people that just want to have fun.. theres nothing wrong with that, but there fact of the matter is, if ur looking for some hardcore fps, there are better options than halo

people try to explain this and fanboys go ballistic, theres nothing wrong with the game and what it does.. but theres better in other respects

CS is not better than Halo. Unreal Tournament is, Half Life is, TFC is the real game left by god. Halo is an amazing game though, its deserves the scores it gets and combines plenty of elements from past FPS games that people love.

Plus you say Halo isn't competitve, really? I mean you don't know what game the MGS's flagship game is? Halo 2 was shown on TV more than CS ever was. It's got an incredible competitive community out there, rivals CS bud.

half life 2 had over 2 million preorders on steam alone, this game had amazing sales (so did hl1) yet NO ONE EVER CALLS IT OVERRATED do u guys ever question why? well anyway, im just saying.. halo brings nothing new to the genre realistically, it takes old features and implements them together in its own way, but its nothing truly special, it gets all its fame because microsoft has money to make that happen

Well that is all based on opinion; you may think they diserve the score, and others think it's overated. It's just taste in games, ofcourse there is always the quality factor, but what really matters is what's fun or not to different people. In my mind, all of those games are overated except for Gears of War. But that's just me..

dont know if u saw my posts, but u see.. i have all 3 consoles, and it just amazes me how few people actually played any notable fps aside from halo (which for the record again, is one of the EASIER fps out there )... theres absolutely nothing wrong with halo, theres just nothing special about it ..not in terms of special features likeforge and video recording, in the eyes of a pc gamer, they had that a long long time ago, u dont judge an fps on special features (in the case of reviews they do, but in terms of gameplay itwouldnt matter).. the fact is that there are shooters with better gameplay and higher competitive value, thats it

Gears of War got 9.6 and GOTY because it was, according to Gamespot, the first true next gen game. They overlooked that the game was on rails and the online mode was only 4vs4

the only one of those i would consider "overrated" would be gears, simply because I didnt like the game. But then again this could be down to my personal preference. i am NOT a fan of Forza and other realistic racing games because i simply despise that genre. in that case I may disagree with the score but i wouldnt call it overrated because everyone else loves it too. the same would apply to gears. i dont think it's overrated, its gamerankings score proves its excellence. i just wouldnt give it a 9.6 because i didnt like it.

Tony hawks 3 would be another matter however. i would consider that overrated because not only do i not like the game, but gs's score was also much higher than every other review given, thus i believe it to be overrated.

Cal-P on cs 1.6(i would of been I by now but i stopped to play WoW for a bit, i was playing cs before steam even came out) and ive played with Cal-i (Cal O-- Cal Im -- Cal M -- Cal P -- Cal I.. cal-i being the top) and play in Cevo-M.. ive been to lans, and ive played with some pros, i see what ur saying but that only applies to games that dont have league play like cal, cevo etc..

really? halo aiming/killing is still easy, it DOES turn into 'be a smart player' i play cs, i know how to playsmart (that game has a lot on playing smart, but it also has an emphasis on knowing how to aim first, additionally halo has less tactics than cs does lol..).. but anyway, i cant say more on this because i PERSONALLY havent played on pro level in halo, ive seen pro's though, in halo, unlike in other fps its not that 'pros can aim super well ' compared to a DECENT PLAYER (not the average halo player), that gap is actually not that huge, it just comes down to the fact that the casual gamer is an idiot (ull realize that quickly)

Perfect Dark Zero - No comment. Haven't played it.

Gears of War - Story was lacking. A.I wasn't exactly the greatest in the world. Short single-player campaign.

Forza Motorsport 2 - People called it overrated!? It's one of my favourite racing games!

Halo 3 - No comment. Haven't played it.
