[QUOTE="kansasdude2009"] everything here is legitimate except "lacking in genres." That's a joke. The Wii has so many genres, it's ridiculous.opex07The Wii has almost no noteworthy titles in these genres, WRPGs, Racing Sims, FPS, Sand Box, MMOs, RTS, JRPGs, Fighters, etc.. while there may be one or two titles in some of those genres they are still lacking on the Wii, some of those genres don't even have a presence on the Wii. When you say no noteworthy titles, you mean because it does not have the ratings of its HD counterparts. The sad truth is, MOST OF NOT ALL game reviewers are 18-35 males just like gamespot editors. So whatever their OPINION on their reviews ONLY reflects on their demographics. Just look at the Wii sales and its software to see how narrow minded some of these 18-35 gamers like on SW and Gamespot.
no, the people who bought the wii are the laughing stock of the gaming industry. theres a total of like 3 games i would ever want to play on the wii so far. the fact that at toyrus they have their own aisle directly devoted to wii peripherals to attach to the wiimote (a frisbee? pom poms? magic wand? really!!!??) makes it look even more stupid.mtradr43I find it funny that the gaming industry are laughing at the Wii while they are struggling to make profits due to its hit ir miss sales of their HD games. Then again, typical 18-35 males (which consist of developers, game reviewers, and elitist gamers) are as usual arrogant.

So because people decided to buy the system that meet their need, they're the laughing stock huh. Can't argue with that then. Let me just say the only game that I really liked on the ps3 was Warhawk.

Please, the Wii is a gamecube with an add-on slapped on. They somehow got millions to pay for it.
By that logic the PS3 = PS2 in HD. Actually less, it's the same as PS2, because you didn't count graphical advancement. You ignore all the advancements except the controller, it's going to be the same as the last gen.Its not the laughing stock of the gaming industry. Its the laughing stock of the 18-35 year old bro gamer demographic . . . wait a minute, that is essentially who runs the industry. Well that's a problem. Eh, to be honest, 18-35 year old males have the most shallow predictable gaming habits ever. The Wii is the laughing stock of the industry because it doesn't cater to this demographic, not because there is anything legitimately wrong with the system.

In terms of hardware, the Wii is basically a slightlyenhanced GameCube. There are a number of titles from last generation that can stand on par with most Wii games.

But with everything else so radically different, the graphics are what people use to compare it to last gen. Compared with the HD systems, where the graphics are the only that aren't like last gen.[QUOTE="ActicEdge"]

Having a poor online infrastructure, very little quality 3rd party support, behind graphically, lacking in genres, and periods of droughts, etc.. all couldn't be a reason on why the Wii is looked down upon to a degree, everyone is just a "bro gamer" and none of these things matter when looking at the system objectively.
im going to agree on artic on this one because online really isnt that important if you have many friends, and you should take out lack of genres because it has much variety

and in terms of demographic, controller, games, and everything else except hardware, the ps3 is a slightly downgraded version from the ps2. The ps2 was more popular by any type of gamer then the ps3 is, the sixaxis failed together with lair, in fact, most people dont even want to talk about it, the only thing the ps3 did better then the ps2 was the hardware, and thats an upgrade that happens each gen .___.

what slump?if yall take three letters on a freaking game so serious and thus consider a console having a drought i feel sorry for all of you.

We are talking about the system itself, not the audience, but the PS3 is just a modern PS2.i think will wright says it best - "The only next gen system I've seen is the Wii– the PS3 and the Xbox 360 feel like better versions of the last, but pretty much the same game with incremental improvement. But the Wii feels like a major jump– not that the graphics are more powerful, but that it hits a completely different demographic."
It's not. If anything it's closer to making the game industry a big joke. vashkey
you sound very ignorant a slumping industry thats now larger then life with a great effect from the wii.you probably wont be having halo reach if the wii didnt make an impact like it did
That why is the laughing stock... There isnt any other system in gaming history till now , that is first by miles in hardware sales and being so poor in good games... There isnt any other laughable gaming system than Wii ( at least i dont remember anything like it and im active gamer since ATARI2600 )It has worse tech than its competition.
Yet it is still able to achieve 1st in sales.
And pump out loads of AAE-AAAE games.
So what if it has casual garbage.
Considering its standing point. It is an achievement that it is what it is today.

[QUOTE="Pices"][QUOTE="RPG-explorer"]Wrong, it is for both a hardcore and casual gamer. Hence, its for "everyone" Well, i don't know how old you are, or how old your friends are, but i've been gaming for 30 years and so have alot of my friends and family and none of the hardcore gamers i know own a Wii or ever intend to get one, it's not even a consideration, unless it's for one of our kids, otherwise we have no use for it. Are you sure your not defending it because your a young guy who's mom bought him a Wii for christmas or your birthday and it's the only system you have and thats why your defending it, and if so that's ok, but it's not for the hardcore gamers, and alot more people here will agree with me than you.The Wii has been laughed at and poked fun at by most hardcore gamers and quite a few developers, but it does have a lot of great first party titles and really good party and exercise games.
It's just not geared towards the hardcore crowd, it's better suited for the casual gamer, and that's fine, but it will always suffer from not receiving the massive multiplatform hits such as RE-5, Call of Duty MW-2, Bayonetta, Oblivion, Fallout 3, Ninja Gaiden series, and the list goes on.
So is it for the hardcore gamer ? NO, but it does have a place in the market for the casual player.
As far as it's sales go, well between Nintendo having the so called " shortage " the first year of Wii's release, it created a curious mystique about the new motion control system, and peoples frantic curiosity got the better of them, and between that and it being the lowest costing system, with the largest amount of E rated titles, it quickly became the most kid friendly system.
So all those combos put it in the number one selling spot, but it will never be a system taken seriously by the hardcore market.

many games have the option to use either gamecube or classic controller, but this is only known by wii owners, so no wonder you didnt know :P, sony and MS are doing the opposite, by making motion controllers optional.
and those so called "terrible games" are what i call terrible taste on your side, so have to agree to disagree here.
if your a 12-30 year old american the xbox360 is the right choice for you, and if your 10-26 and dont live in america the ps3 is the right choice for you.
im going to agree on artic on this one because online really isnt that important if you have many friends, and you should take out lack of genres because it has much variety
Mario1331
I already addressed the genre thing earlier, and online is entirely your opinion, I'm going to assume your are a younger gamer because as you get older you will realize the importance of online as a way to get together with friends and families due to the increase in responsibilities you will have as an adult, making it harder to get together with friends like you would when you are younger, as well as friends and families moving away to go live their life's.
Millions of people wouldn't be playing online accross all of the systems including the Wii, if it was not important.
It's a laughing stock because it has dated tech, poor online, a poor and gimmicky controller and a more than lackluster libary compared to ps3/360.LiquidSnake1001* Its tech is improved from last gen * The online.....*sigh* If you mean FC, they suck. But I bet your judging the online SOLELY on brawl * Gimmicky and poor controller just like the MOVE. Go look at games like Metroid prime 3 then tell me that the controls are poor * The library is already great
