Why is the wii the laughing stock of the gaming industry?

Its not the laughing stock of the gaming industry. Its the laughing stock of the 18-35 year old bro gamer demographic . . . wait a minute, that is essentially who runs the industry. Well that's a problem. Eh, to be honest, 18-35 year old males have the most shallow predictable gaming habits ever. The Wii is the laughing stock of the industry because it doesn't cater to this demographic, not because there is anything legitimately wrong with the system.

Yet it is still able to achieve 1st in sales.

And pump out loads of AAE-AAAE games.

So what if it has casual garbage.

Considering its standing point. It is an achievement that it is what it is today.

Because this is SW I have to sit back and say haha pathetic but in reality I still think NSMBWii was AAA and I've heard tons of good about LKS. I also enjoy TatvsCap just as much as AAA games (don't own it though). The letters matter here but . . . they don't really matter.

Reasons why...................... Non HD gaming(welcome to the 90's Nintendo) Horrible online Motion controls needed to be optional and have a standard controller. Games, for the most part the Wii has terrible games with a few exceptions. If your 5-10 years old and like flailing your arms around the Wii is for you:)djsifer01

Because most gamers like a variety of games, not just one style. A person might like Vagrant Story, and Super Mario Galaxy, and Halo, and Left 4 Dead. Get the idea? Just because Nintendo doesn't make a game in the style of Vagrant Story, doesn't mean they are incapable of it. that would be like saying Bungie is incapable of making a decent platformer.

I already addressed the genre thing earlier, and online is entirely your opinion, I'm going to assume your are a younger gamer because as you get older you will realize the importance of online as a way to get together with friends and families due to the increase in responsibilities you will have as an adult, making it harder to get together with friends like you would when you are younger, as well as friends and families moving away to go live their life's.

Millions of people wouldn't be playing online accross all of the systems including the Wii, if it was not important.

your right im only 17 with an IQ seemingly way ahead of half this forum and i do see my friends alot so we play local even on 360,and yes your right millions of people do play online but i doubt if you add in everybody from every console(ps3,wii,360) 1/3 of them probably play online and thats being generous

I rent more than I buy. Is that such a difficult concept? I have other slightly more important things to put the buik of my disposable money towards right now. As for Vagrant Story its a rather simple thing, I like a variety of games. Nintendo doesn't make games like Vagrant Story but I am not a Nintendo only person. I am a fan in it for fun and enjoyment. There is no reason why I cannot enjoy the inquiry of Ashley Riot and love the platforming of Mario as well. That's not a hard concept either.

Nothing is wrong with that demographic. Its just a really crappy one to let run the industry in my opionion because its not a very welcoming, diverse or well, tolerant group and this SW thread is nothing more than proof of that. As for the last bolded statement, its essentially proving my point, shallow minded demographic controls everything and is not very tolerant of anything not aimed at them. Hence while in itself there is nothing wrong with that demographic, its still just a nice way of saying making simple minded, copycat products for a very simple and generic target who thinks its superior to everyone else. (regardless of whether a statement like this bothers people I'm going to say it anyway)

To use the ol' cliche, Nintendo's laughing its way to the bank. While I generally have no interest in the Wiis 3rd party support, no one can deny the quality of it's 1st party support. Also, Nintendo has finally made gaming an acceptable hobby, on a much larger scale. Nintendo are cool. 8)

Laughing stocks arent usually imitated.

I really don't think anyone is laughing at the Wii, maybe the stockholders. I bet they're having a good ol time. I really wasn't impressed with the Wii, and really wasn't sucked in with the motion gadgets either. I would say it gets picked on for being subpar in the graphics section. It almost seems like they could've attached a add-on, sorta like Natal, or Sony's motion thing, to the GAmecube, and it would've done the same thing. But they probably wouldn't have made as much $$ of the hype of a "new" and "innovative" console.I honestly think if it weren't for Nintendo's very strong 1st party devs, Nintendo would be long gone by now. I actually thought they were on the way out when the GAmecube started losing its' third party support, and I think the only thing that held them together was their handheld dept.. The GAmeboy Advance and DS were always killing it when it came to sales. So once the Wii is introduced to the HD world, I might grab one, and I will say the thought has crossed my mind earlier, but I end up picking up some more 360 games instead.

Having a poor online infrastructure, very little quality 3rd party support, behind graphically, lacking in genres, and periods of droughts, etc.. all couldn't be a reason on why the Wii is looked down upon to a degree, everyone is just a "bro gamer" and none of these things matter when looking at the system objectively.

more than 1/2 of the world doesn't have access to clean water, food, and electricity, all very important things. I don't think being used by every one is what makes something important.
