Why is there such a complete lack of diversity and effort in Microsoft's Xbox first party?

Rare is way underrated now. They went from being the most overblown studio ever on Nintendo's platforms to being treat like trash on Xbox. Viva Pinata and Banjo Nuts and Bolts are better games than Conker and the OG Banjo. They play better and are far more interesting. Which is why I'm not in the slightest hyped for Yooka-Layle because it's going to be a nostalgia fest of shitty late 90's collectathons with weighted controls. Rare are still capable of good stuff. It's just they have a hate parade because they are now owned by MS. Sea Of Thieves looks interesting, definately something I'm willing to give a chance. I actually think Rare are my favorite MS studio, because Kameo, Viva Pinata and Banjo N&B are all really good games. As you say, Kinect fucked them.

I'm waiting for MS to generate some must have game/games that make me want to pick up the One. So far it's more of the same and I really don't play those games. I do have a few of the early Halo's but I'm really not a fan of shooters.....first or third. Fighting and racing games are also low on my list of games. I liked Soul Caliber on the DC. I have Injustice but other than that.....just don't play them. I wish MS would cater to more than the small demographic that it does. And that's the reason the console isn't selling this gen.

The most creative games were on their first console. Lots of genres to pick from. It started to narrow with the 360 so much so that most of the games I bought for that console were third party. And as I said I await to pick up the One. So far nothing impresses.

I'm kinda with you on this one, While I got nothing against MS for that matter, my issue with Xbox One as of lately is the lack of worthy JRPG games. Halo is good and all but I'm Halo out as it is, Halo 5 was disappointing, tired of Forza, Gears, and MS isn't even trying. The only worthy X1 exclusive I had fun the most and put a lot of hours into was really Rare Replay, that's it. Just like Charizard1605 said, Scalebound was that JRPG I wanted to play but now that it's delay till next year, Quantum Break is the only X1 game worth buying for this year. Xbox 360 had way more stuff and X1 isn't even trying.

@ni6htmare01: Microsoft also funded and assisted insomniac and allowed them to keep the IP, just like they did with Titanfall cause MS wants more games on their system and didn't try to hijack IP's like Sony, hence the reason Xbox One got Sunset Overdrive. Sony wanted to keep the IP had it been made on their system. It's all cool though we can split hairs and make PS4 and Sony look however yall want doesn't effect me or my gaming enjoyment one bit

It's currently got 186 less games than the PlayStation 4, the PlayStation 4 also has 92 more indie titles than the Xbox One, plus a barrage of JRPG's likely filling the remainder of that void, not the most compelling purchasing or gravity of games argument for the typical person, it's just not.

The console didn't go down $150, they dropped a $100 peripheral from the package, and like the PlayStation 4 were at $400. Then months, and month, and months later they lowered the price of the console by $50, Sony followed suit several months later.

It's the big reason why my Xbox One just collects dust sadly, if MS put Rare Replay on the PC then I may just sell my Xbox One cause Scalebound isn't enough for me to keep a system that just takes up space and has no use to me.

Can use that money for an Xbox 360 so I can actually play some JRPGs or use it to save up for my Sugar Gliders.

MS is lucky they didn't put Rare Replay on PC cause I would've gotten it on PC as well but yes, it's true that I haven't turn on my Xbox One over a month and been just playing my PS4.

@charizard1605: I don't think you should be using the word "diverse". I mean, you said it yourself. Sony has 11/17 differing genres, whereas Microsoft has 6/6 different genres. So Microsoft is 100% diverse whereas Sony is 64%.

Your argument is more about the total number of new IPs, not necessarily diversity.

Come one man while i agree that Forza did make some things great,it never ever dethroned GT as the go to race,GT has always beat Forza sales wise without even trying,and Forza 5 which came basically head to head with GT6 actually scored lower than GT6,79% on meta while GT6 has 81%,there hasn't being any other GT since GT6,so we have to wait for the next one to see how it goes,but the last one hitting in 2013 like Forza actually outscore Forza 5.

It absolutely does- Sony has used these franchises in the last five years, which indicates they hold enough of an interest in them to bring them to the PS4 as well- and indeed, we are seeing a new inFamous, new Uncharted, new Ratchet and Clank, and even a new Gravity Rush, for the system. Notice how I don't list Sony IP like Puppeteer or Rain or Beyond: Two Souls in this comparison, as they are irrelevant to the point I am making. My point is that these franchises are absolute candidates to appear on the PS4, and to bolster its exclusives lineup and appeal. With the Xbox, we only have five such franchises so far- though we are getting more this year.

So no, it is absolutely not irrelevant.

Fact of the matter is there are 414 games available on the Xbox One plus the 130 backward compatible games and 600~ on the PlayStation 4, there's nothing to complain about either way.

Threads like this are completely needless when it's obvious that both sides are putting in an effort to please their respective consumer bases, Microsoft is just in a more difficult position and are doing what they can given that.

When threads like this come around it's upsetting, not because I believe or agree with what is being said, but because it's just so god damn petty and it's like people are always trying to take cheap shots at something which is realistically a good and well rounded console.

At this point the Xbox One has so little wrong with it it's like people just try to find any little thing they can to bitch about no matter what it is or how small.

No one is sweeping anything under the rug, but you need to realize nothing is ever going to be in parity in this industry no matter what, no consoles have ever been, and no consoles have ever shared the exact same number of games or games themselves. They both offer different stuff, different perks, features, layouts, games, approaches to the way things are done, it's Honda vs. Toyota. Now I'm not saying you have to like a Honda, but you don't need to obsess over it either or its differences with Toyota constantly trying to make some kind of a point... We all know, we're all capable of researching things and you don't need to go out of your way constantly with attempts to dissuade or instill doubt in peoples minds, because we both know that is the ultimate goal here, you don't do this for information purposes to help out the community, we're not that naive...

You need to stop trying to make everything seem so urgent, so bad, as if people are going to have a lesser gaming experience if they get an Xbox One, because if they like the kind of games Xbox is associated with they won't. Sony has a bigger grasp on the market for the time being, good for them, but that's not to say that what Microsoft has going on as well is any less important or people are going to like it less. My Xbox One is still my more valuable system as it's got more for me to do with and on it, and the games available for it have great levels of replay value and a lot have multiplayer variety, I can't exactly say the same for my PlayStation 4, most of the games are one and done and lacking in the multiplayer department.

Value isn't what's on paper, viability isn't what's on paper, they're what you actually get out of what is in front of you, and I own both of these things. I'm getting better value and viability out of my Xbox One, my usage ratio for it as compared to my PlayStation 4 is easily 8:1, and there is enough coming to keep me thoroughly entertained, especially with the multiplayer strengths in mind. These hardware difference, game counts, all of it, they don't really mean anything when you get down to it, it all fades away once you start playing a game and honestly you'd be hard pressed to really notice a difference anyway.

It's all dramatics, it's all a show and frankly it's getting tired and old... You need to chill out...
