I think what you fail to understand is people aren't being forced, we like the service and what it provides (JJ aka Yellow Rose gave a great example). I said if I (read: as in me) had to worry about saving that much money than that would be sad. It was a sentence directed at my self, if anything it would be a personal attack at myself if that were my situation. :|

I'm not being forced, I have the choice not to pay. MS doesn't have a gun to my head when I click submit transaction to pay for a subscription. I choose to pay, why is that hard to understand?

Regardless of whether the online service you're using costs money or not, online gaming on PC is superior. No one should or could have any inclination to say otherwise.

But I do think Microsoft is taking advantage of their customers. They charge you to be able to play with your friends. I don't care what platform you play on, that function should be free.

How many years will you have/use the ps3?  Let's say only 5 years. 

$200/(5*12) = $3.33 a month

It has been explained several times why your thread is a failure, yet you keep on digging hoping that something you say may actually be right.  Xbl isn't a ripoff by any means. There is a free version if you choose not to pay for the gold. There is also the option not to sign up at all. If people can pay 3 times what XBL cost to play WOW then by comparison XBL isn't so bad. It is the best CONSOLE online service available. Nintendo and the PSN aren't anywhere near as good.

You have been owned multiple times and I have the feeling this ain't over yet. I got a nice cold one at my side. Let me get some chips and I'll watch you reach into the fire a few more times.....

Why XBL is not a rip-off:

-Less than a Starbucks coffee each month for unlimited play-time.

-Excellent quality

-Every game made for the console must have XBL compatibility in some way.

-6 million subscribers

Are the other services better just because they're free? No way. The cost of XBL is well worth it, feature for feature, to all of its subscribers.

Sorry... it IS a relative term.  Many, including myself, prefer playing online through a console for the same reasons people like playing on consoles in general.  Put a brand new game in the disc tray and begin playing within 2 minutes.

And why, exactly will PS3 home be better than XBL?  List your features and services.  I'll list the ones for XBL.

How the hell can you say PSN is better when buying content off of it (free with XBL silver) is a convoluted chore?  Because it's free?

You can play games while still being in Home.

You can enter a game seamlessly from Home.

Get together with friends in Home (meet up at a certain friend's home, it can be done instantaneously) and then enter a
private game together (though you can enter the game from whereever, as long as y'all are together).

Stream movies across the internet (ie, you play a movie on your ps3, and other people can come to your Home and watch it)

Various arcade features which were shown in the vid in the OP

Trophies, similar to XBL acheivements

Devs can create their own Home space, where you can go to preview tha latest games they're working on, get wallpapers, etc.

Bunch of other crap, but i covered the gist of it

look, i have a job, 2 cars, soon to buy a house, and almost all consoles. $50 is not a big deal to me. just that i prefer other options, like free online with PC, free online with PSN, and forget about Wii.

That doesn't make sense either. To a single gamer it's only $50, and in my opinion thats not a big deal. However, to MS it's $50 per gamer, meaning they get around $300,000,000 in subscriptions alone. To you these are similar, in reality I doubt anyone would consider $50 and $300,000,000 equivalent. :|

i'm talking about PC online, (and soon to be PS 3 Home). PC online is better. fact.

Sorry... it IS a relative term.  Many, including myself, prefer playing online through a console for the same reasons people like playing on consoles in general.  Put a brand new game in the disc tray and begin playing within 2 minutes.

And why, exactly will PS3 home be better than XBL?  List your features and services.  I'll list the ones for XBL. 

You can play games while still being in Home.

You can enter a game seamlessly from Home.

Get together with friends in Home (meet up at a certain friend's home, it can be done instantaneously) and then enter a private game together (though you can enter the game from whereever, as long as y'all are together).

Stream movies across the internet (ie, you play a movie on your ps3, and other people can come to your Home and watch it)

Various arcade features which were shown in the vid in the OP

Trophies, similar to XBL acheivements

Devs can create their own space in Home (not a Home itself), where you can go to preview tha latest games they're working on, get wallpapers, etc.

Bunch of other crap, but i covered the gist of it

you have to ask yourself this question, not me.

Not all of HOme's features are known, and it depends primarily on the developer integrating those features into the game, but here's what i know so far...

You can play games while still being in Home. XBL dashboard features are available at any time with the simple press of the Guide button from any game or while you're doing anything on the 360

You can enter a game seamlessly from Home.  You can enter a game from XBL also.

Get together with friends in Home (meet up at a certain friend's home, it can be done instantaneously) and then enter a
private game together (though you can enter the game from whereever, as long as y'all are together).  XBL has true cross game invite functionality.  No matter what you or your friends are playing, you can send an invite.  Friends will be brought straight into your session.

Stream movies across the internet (ie, you play a movie on your ps3, and other people can come to your Home and watch it).  Now this is something that XBL doesn't have.

• Gamercard displays achievements from within the dashboard, but are also viewable from within any game and from the internet by going to Xbox.com or from any of the several gamercard sites (see Community Developer Program below)
• Infrastructure that allows the community to self-govern:
  • Gamer zone
  • Rep
  • Prefer/avoid
  • Feedback
• Acvite monitoring of feedback
• Matchmaking that takes that all into account
• Functional cross-game invite system that brings you straight into a friend's session
• Closed, secure network that actively checks for modded consoles
• Connectivity to the web.  I like being able to log into my account on xbox.com to check my messages and see what my friends are up to.
• MS has resources whose job is to specifically connect with the community.  Major Nelson, Trixie... and the support they give to fan sites
• A good amount of movies and TV shows available for download in both standard and HD resolutions.
