[QUOTE="Willy105"]Yes.[QUOTE="Superzone"] What the HELL are you talking about?? You do know what a tech demo is, right?Superzone
A tech demo is a presentation (via software or otherwise) designed to show off the capabilities of either a piece of hardware (console or peripheral) or a concept/software (like Lucasarts showing off their tech for The Force Unleashed).
Nintendo did those things well.
[QUOTE="Lethalhazard"]Go ahead but it doesn't change the fact that MILLIONS of people around play and enjoy the game. if Wii Sports is used as an example then yes
[QUOTE="hakanakumono"]
I don't know what you're implying but I think its clear that I guess I do need to explain myself.
Wii Sports Resort is barely a "game." To be compared to other AA titles like Infamous and Little King's Story is an absolute joke. It's sad that even with the wii's overinflated scores the console cannot compete with the two "losing" consoles. A game like wii sport's resort scoring high up with the rest of the wii's AA's is an even bigger insult to it's library.
The__Havoc
Certain types of games should never achieve certain scores. And games without certain elements should never achieve certain scores. And no game should ever receive a 10 because no game deserves it. That's how I see it.
Just because a game doesn't have any problems doesn't mean it should automatically score a perfect 10. Or a 9. Or an 8.
hakanakumono
Have you forgot what gaming is? Gamign is about fun. You don't see me going around saying games with Girly looking guys should never recieve certain scores. To compare other games with normal looking characters compared to gender confusing characters would be an absolute joke wouldn't it 8)
Games are about entertainment. Not all games are about "fun." But all should aim towards player enjoyment. There are a variety of game factors that can contribute to enjoyment. "Fun" is not necessarily one of them, and this "enjoyment" doesn't have to pertain to all players.
I don't mean that certain aspects of games should arbitrarily mark them up or down. I mean that if a game is going to get a higher score, it better have a considerable level of depth and/or complexity in terms of gameplay or story and presentation. In other words, if a game has simplistic gameplay (with little to no depth or complexity) and a poor storyline then it shouldn't score above an 8. Minigame collections, no matter how high quality, are short simplistic games that should not score over 7.5. Longer adventures of course should be able to score an 8, like Zelda TP.
[QUOTE="hakanakumono"][QUOTE="SMR-Venom"] Read the review or watch the video. "Can be picked up and enjoyed by all levels of gamers".SMR-Venom
I read the review.
What's the point of your quote? It doesn't improve or devalue the game.
It has enough depth to satisfy the "hardcore" gamers too. I could compare this game to CoD4 very easily. Lackluster single player, amazing multiplayer.I think there's this misconception in SW that "hardcore" gamers play only "hardcore" games and "casual" gamers play only "casual" games. Just because the review says that it can be enjoyed by hardcore gamers doesn't mean that it has depth. Hardcore and casual gamers have always played both hardcore and casual games. Which is why its important to have a library consisting of both hardcore and casual games. By the end of the day, the game with the more depth and complexity is always going to be more respected if it does manage to pull it off (Xenosaga, Silent Hill 2), but casual titles like Mario games are a great addition to any library. Different games provide different forms of enjoyment.
Who would have thought that a game that getsa good score be so offensive to SW?
magiciandude
Because it doesn't deserve to be placed on the pedestal next to other AA games. It really can't compare to them.

[QUOTE="ogvampire"]
for all you know, WSR is getting 7's and 8's everywhere instead of 8's and 9's because it doesnt have online play.
if it had online play, it would definately score higher....
in the end, it still got the rating the reviewer thinks it deserves. which is still about the average rating for this game (82 metacritic score)
ogvampire
And the Lack of single player replayability, good graphics(they suck even for the Wii), good sounds. The review even says the game is shallow and repetitive(look under "the bad"). That has NOTHING to do with the AA status at all:roll:
you are magnifying every bad thing he said and ignoring the good things
it seems like you have something against WSR getting good ratings... especially considering you havent even played it :|
also, his review is about the average: 82 metacritic score
Well I can't play the game till it's out on Sunday. And everything that's bad seems to be everything about the game but the controls and a few of the mini games included.
I've NEVER bashed any Wii game for getting a good score. It's just My opinion that the review doesn't match the score. I'll review ti myself on sunday when I get it...Or I may just save my money for FULL games this September/October. I can pay $60 each for about 7 games in those 2 months I like, or $60 for a collection of minigames...Most of which are appearently shallow and simply have you going through the same boring motions over and over again.
MUA2, UC2, Borderlands, Demons Souls and Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 plus a few others are FAR more interesting looking.

I do find it funny how much you seem to hate the fact that so many reviewers disagree with you.Hmm it says a "Must have party game"
where are the excellent single player games?. When all the Wii has is crap it easy for a semi-decent game to score well. Compare Wii games to 360/Ps3/PC games and they would score crap

Things like that don't work when a Wii single-player game wins GOTY. Also, most people prefer multiplayer games because they don't have to play by themselves.Hmm it says a "Must have party game"

What it comes down to is you trying to push your opinion upon others. Quite frankly to me its irrelevent. I don't agree with the things you have to say and you probably don't agree with what I have to say. Its just that I'm not throwing out my opinion like its the gold standard in which you are.

"Fun" falls under "entertainment" but "entertainment" doesn't fall under "fun." In other words, simple fun is just one way games entertain players.

EVERY GAME the wii has is exclusive, its skewed and obvious, why is it hard to understand? You factor in the ps3/360 multiplats the wii doesn't get and you'll see the wii's library is still way behind because it misses out on a ton of games. But w/e, keep thinking it has more quality games.wow, i now see why wii-bashers are getting nervous
the wii's catching up to the 360 in AAA exclusives (only 1 less), has already caught up in terms of AA exclusives, and vastly outpaces the 360 in terms of A exclusives

That is a great score even though I was not expecting it. Sure online play would have made the game better but that doesn't mean it is not fun, and as far as I know having fun is the only reason I play games.

Oh this is so rich. When I see people compare the PS3 to the 360 all they want to talk about is exclusives, exclusives, and guess what exclusives. But but L4D and Mass Effect don't count as I can get it on PC. Multiplats don't count because only exclusives matter!!!
Now low and behold the Wii is catching up in exclusives apparently AND NOW multiplats become so freaking imporant LOL.
You have to make up your minds here is overall library being taken into account like it should or are is it going to be just exclusives. But then again if people are hating on Wii they'll talk about multiplats and if they are hating on 360 they'll talk about how multiplats don't matter.

All the wii has is exclusive, very terrible ones at that. The exclusives that come out on 360/Ps3 are 7/10 times decent games that get great scores. How many wii games can you say that about.
