@Juub1990: doesn't matter what they agree with, facts are facts. 360 had more of an impact on the industry than PS2 did. The rise of indie games, western developers finally surpassing Japanese developers, the explosion of online gaming, streaming services, achievements, etc...MS may not have been directly responsible for all that but the 360 was at the forefront and leading the way. Sure, the Wii sold more and motion controls were a huge deal but looking at the industry now, no one cares about motion controls but the things the 360 helped establish, like online gaming, like Indies are still around and bigger than ever.

Ps2 was a great console that sold a lot and had great third party support but it didn't completely change the gaming industry the way the 360 did

The 360 changed the industry far more than the SNES did. In fact the 360 sits with the NES and the SNES sits more with the PS2, except less so because the 16 bit craze was around long before the SNES hit the market. Point is, impact on the industry isn't what makes something the best or even the greatest, otherwise the NES would be sitting pretty at the top. And we all know the SNES > everything else. But that's because of it's mad good library. Comparatively, the 360 is still in discussion with the PS3 when it comes to library.

The 360 didn't change the industry that much. The 360 improved on things that came before, but brought little that was new. It's SegaNet that deserves most of the credit for establishing online gaming on consoles, followed by the original Xbox Live which was around before the 360. The rise of indie gaming was largely due to the rise of mobile gaming. The 360 may have introduced streaming services and achievements, but those are just gimmicks.

The SNES changed the game industry way more than the 360 and PS3 combined. The SNES controller, with its four face buttons and two shoulder buttons, set the standard layout for controllers to this day. The SNES was the first console with hardware support for three-dimensional scaling & rotation. It had the first console chip specifically designed for 3D polygons, the SuperFX. It had one of the first console modems for online gaming, Satellaview. And without the SNES, the PlayStation or Xbox wouldn't exist.

I'd say you're downplaying the influence of the 360 tremendiously. It is it's buisness practices that are the norm in the industry today. It was the forefront to online gaming on consoles and made it bigger. In the same way the PS1 made gaming in general bigger and expanded it's audience. It's not always about who is first. I'm not saying it's the best console ever, I just agree with him on the huge influence that console has had on the industry. It's essentially what the PS4 is with a PS3 coat of paint.

The SNES though, I have to agree. It done some pretty amazing stuff in it's day.
