...you guys didn't insist on hyping the thing to be AAA? it has an 8.3 at metacritic which really isn't that far off from gamespot's 7.5 and there were 17 other sources who rated it the same as or LOWER than gs did.

Let's pretend Forza 4 doesn't exist Mr Wagner (special separate discussion thread crated for lemmings because of the amount ofcrying, Infamous 2 didn't get that). Guess your were absent or had your eyes closed when all that went on since you went back to a much older game to create this thead.

It's a silly game indeed that I've come to accept here ha, just wished we'd find a better way to spice it up for people like myself that aren't emotionally involved in what GS reviews a game.

The hype for Infamous 2 made sense though, considering the first was solid and the second appeared to improve in every way it could. The hype for SS made no sense, since the gameplay was completely unproven and we had, and still have, no reason to believe motion controls suddenly got better.

its pretty asinine considering that gamespot gave it a much lower score than the first.

infamous 2 had

- better level design

- more powers

- bigger, better boss battles

- more enemy variety

- better graphics

- better side missions

im sorry. infamous 2 is a better game than the first one. end of story.

It's not really a big deal and I couldn't care less about the hype. The thing that surprised me was I just couldn't believe how it couldn't get an 8 or above after I played it.

It was hyped AAA, but Cows flooded it with AA votes once the 7.5 turned in. Its why many members started counting votes manually rather than by the poll box. So many guys hyped it as 9.5 and GotY on the first pages, than when the review came in the AA damage control hit.

McShea also managed to shatter the dreams of Sheep with a second 7.5 to a AAA-hyped GotY contender with Flopward Sword.

Guy's on a roll. I'm betting he just browses the forums to see who he can troll next... it's either Hermits or Lemmings at this point, so brace yourselves boys! :P

I love how Casey is completely dodging the "reasoning behind the scores" argument that we brought up earlier. Again, it wouldn't have mattered much (at least not as much now) that inFAMOUS 2 scored a 7.5, but for the reasons that Tom picked he had to get called out about it. Anyone remember how that IGN reviewer reviewed the new Pixeljunk game Sidescroller and how the dev called out the fact that he didn't play on the higher difficulty to access the final boss (which was one of the reviewers complaints)? game_masta14

Youre reasoning makes no sense, review scores dont exist in a vacuum why make the breaking point 0 or 5 and then compare the GS to MC when you full well know that MC uses the full scale?

The review wouldn't have been a big deal if the commentary demonstrated that the guy knew what he was talking about. He complained about things that were non-issues and showed that he didn't understand how the game worked.

For example, the screen goes black when you are close to dead and stays that way for long periods of time so that you have to play large portions of the game in black and white. He didn't seem to know that you could recharge your health by pressing a button. A pretty big detail about game mechanics that the reviewer didn't understand.

It wasn't a competent review.

Infamous 1 should have got a 6.5 tne 7.5 infamous got was fine but it should have been counted as the superior game that it is.
