I don't particularly care personally. The only Porsche I'd be interested in is the Speedster. And maybe this. But that never happens, license or no license.
Oh no, they're making a SUV called the...Roxster. :(

Maybe in place of a Porsche they include the exclusive..... Lambergotti Fastarosa.. it is one sweet ride !! :P

Coool. This game slipped past my radar.
Well here's one link. http://www.porsche.com/china/en/interactive/needforspeedprostreet/[QUOTE="shinrabanshou"]
[QUOTE="masiisam"]
Do you have a link for that?
ferrarimanf355
I believe EA have held the license since NFS: Porsche Unleashed. Typically all the NFS games carry this legal notice: "Porsche, the Porsche crest, 911 and Carrera are registered trademarks of Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG. Licensed under certain patents."
Perhaps EA is refusing to sublicense, or perhaps the value proposition may not be deemed worthwhile to PD.
But the idea that PD are deliberately excluding Porsche cars because they're incapable of coding them, or are unwilling to, or are lazy... is frankly just dumb.
That doesn't prove anything. You're just making stuff up. Nowhere does that say that EA has exclusive dibs, and that doesn't explain why Forza 3 has Porsche. :|
Someone asked for a link to show that EA hold the Porsche AG license, so I provided a link. But yes, I'm making stuff up. It has nothing to do with licensing issues. Polyphony Digital are clearly just too inept and lazy to code any Porsche cars, despite that they have RUF cars. Coding the Porsche crest and logo is just too damn mindboggling. Only the devs for NFS and Forza have the mental capacity and talent to code them.

No one has said Poly cant code the car ..but plenty have said it's not a deal breaker but disappointing. That's understandable. Some posters don't like Porsches and that's fine it still does not change the fact they are one of the most iconic brands in motor sport history ..They should be in the game..
Boo hoo, GT never had Porsche, they had RUF. DO you know why GT doesnt have Porsche? Its because Porsche are most likely charging insane amount of money for royalites!
clyde46
Your point? If Turn 10 can afford the Porsche licensing fees, PD sure as hell can.
Since Gran Turismo 2 RUF has been a manufacturer, and has always had an impressive line up of cars. I can't see a Polyphony having both RUF and Porsche in one game since RUF uses a lot of Porsche bodies and chassis, and replacing RUF with Porsche would be an even bigger joke in my opinion since they're such an important manufacturer in Gran Turismo.
The game needs Porsche cars to be great? :? Doolz2024Of course not.... But if the next Madden left out several teams which were in the running for the Superbowl, it'd surely be something that damned near everyone would admit to be a major detriment to the game. This game probably wouldn't be any different if it weren't PS3 exclusive and one of their flagship titles... But, that being so, all of the sudden one of the greatest racing names ever with some of the most legendary cars doesn't seem to matter. A lot of things don't surprise me as far as fanboyism goes in this forums... This does. All I can say is - wow. A game that's portrayed as a serious, realistic racer leaving out Porsche. I know a lot of people who are hardly even interested in non Porsche cars in a racer - a *lot*.

That madden comparison makes no sence...All 32 teams are under the NFL. All car companies are not under one league or something..
An for what seems to be the billionth time, GT has had RUF for a while now. RUF sells modified porsches.

Better? That and I believe Yamauchi has said in an interview that the omission of Porsche is due to "licensing issues."
People have been acting as if this is something beyond simple licensing conflict.
And there've been dumb comments like this in the thread.

It's not that big of a deal…..but honestly no… it's not better…Legal notices are required by the holder to keep any registered trademark from being infringed on and if any brand/ trademark that is used by the holder…. proper acknowledgement must be made to the holder of those brands.
Simply put..I have not found one document that states EA is the exclusive holder of the Porsche license..
I'm not calling you out specifically….. but more so the validity of the information. I have heard that quite a bit and I haven't found anything to back that claim up.
Not a big deal...

You're right in that it shows no exclusivity. But all that really changes is that instead of licensing issues with EA it would be licensing issues with Porsche AG. The circumstances of those licensing issues, regardless of which company PD would have to negotiate with, remain an unknown, just as the circumstances of FM3's licensing agreement, whether with EA or Porsche, remain unknown. At then end of the day they still have RUF, anybody who is planning on "boycotting the game" because it lacks the Porsche crest, probably wasn't ever planning on getting it anyway...
Actually it has stock cars with the same internals as NASCARs, so you can paint them to be any of the numerous NASCAR drivers. :P It is pretty amazing that they didn't include Porsche, a large auto manufacturer, but it won't make or break the game.Forza 3 doesn't have NASCAR. Therefore it is a joke.

But GT5 has RUF which can probably be changed to have the internals of a Porche, so what's the difference really? Not talking about you, but I think people are making a huge deal about this. It hasn't existed for 15 years in the series for what ever reason, but why would that make a difference now? I guess it would be nice to have considering how important the company is... but still, as someone mentioned earlier, if someone said they'd "boycott" this game for that reason, they weren't going to buy it in the first place.Forza 3 doesn't have NASCAR. Therefore it is a joke.

This game won't even sell 500k units. Quote me on this. It's been getting a lot of bad publicity, and I don't think it will ever recover. The consumers' feeling about this game won't change, unless they cancel it and make it a totally different game, something like take what they worked on GT5(if they even did) and develop a whole new game (GT6).
The new DEMO has had 1 million downloads. This game will easily sell 10 million copies and more then likely become the best selling PS3 title. This game won't even sell 500k units. Quote me on this. This game is a scam, seriously. SIX YEARS and this is all they can do? I'd pitty myself were I a GT5's developer.
I'm sorry but there's absolutely no excuse for this, they keep dropping content and delaying the game. I, for one, won't be buying crap like this.
And I'm extremely positive that they already lost A LOT of potential buyers as well. So yeah, I won't be alone on this.

I wouldnt be suprised its not complete vaporware and wont ever release.

Who are you trying to kid?
Anyways, one automaker not in a game with so many damn cars is not a big deal.
This is Porsche we are talking about, not some no name like Puegot or Citroen. Any serious racing sim must have porscheLol at "Peugeot" and "Citroen" as no names...Did you know more Peugeot and Citroen get sold worldwide than any American car maker?
