Wow I'm not impressed with Pokemon XY's graphics

Pokemon XY looks like the previous game, but the perspective is a bit different. GameFreak doesn't even care anymore because Pokemon sells a lot. I really hate lazy studios, Nintendo should shut them down and do the Pokemon games themselves.TankBusterJenn

What they do push is the same rehash for almost 20 years straight and people are still hooked just like with CoD.

To be honest, I was kinda hoping for something comparable to how Dragon quest VIII looked on the PS2. A full 3-D world that you could explore and that had massive changes in terms of graphics and the overall look and feel of the game. The Pokemon battles look nice, so that is a plus. But it seems like Gamefreak is unsure about the direction they want to take the series. The graphics and overall look is pretty much a nicer looking and more refined version of the look that Generation V had.

I'm guessing they rushed the game through development, so they did not have any time to build a new graphics engine. Either that, or they wanted to stick with what they had.

But I was hoping for more from a Pokemon game that is on a handheld that is comparable to the PS2 and Gamecube. I was hoping for a fully 3-D world that the player could explore. Something comparable to what PS2 RPGs like Dragon quest VIII did years ago.

I still intend to get this game, but I was hoping for a bit more. Especially in terms of presentation.

I can understand your argument, but I was hoping for something comparable to PS2 or Gamecube RPGs. To be honest, I was hoping for Gen VI to be something like what Dragon Quest VIII was to its series. A game that defines itself on new hardware and looks damn good.

I'm not expecting this game to be a graphics king, but I am a little dissapointed by it.

Of course, maybe Gamefreak was on a rushed development schedule when they made this game. It's not a deal breaker for me, but on a handheld that has power comparable to the PS2 and Gamecube, I was hoping for a bit more.

Golden Abyss was pretty good man, I think it's better than Drake's Fortune. Little Big Planet is better than the PS3 LBP games, perfect for the handheld. Gravity Rush is pretty unique game, and not found on PS3, turned out to be one of my favorite Vita games. And WipEout 2048 is right up there with WipEout HD.

I play my Vita everyday, and I see nothing wrong with it's current library, especially with it being in it's first year.

Super Mario 3D Land doesn't hold a candle to SMG2, but you don't see me saying it's mediocre cause of it. All those Vita games I mentioned are all great in their own right, sure not all of them will match the PS3 games, but they do a damn fine job for being portable. I want more new and original IP's for the Vita as well, but there is nothing wrong with putting known franchises on the handheld. If you are looking for more unique and original Vita games, I suggest looking into Gravity Rush, Unt 13, Soul Sacrifice, and Tearaway...I'd even throw LBP Vita in there as well. It really is better than the PS3 versions, really feels like it was made with the Vita in mind.

Apparently, you need to read what I wrote a little closer before you start bashing me. In case you failed to notice what I said in my post, I said that still intend to get this game. Fire Emblem, Castlevania, Pokemon, and Smash Brothers are the main reasons why I have held onto my 3DS. And regardless of my issues with the graphics, I'm sure these two games will be just as good if not better then the previous Pokemon games.

But I have every right to come onto these forums and express my opinion. Understand one thing, I paid for my 3DS. Its well within my right to come on here and express my opinion about the games that I own and potential games that will be coming to my system. Yes, I do wish Game Freak had done more with the graphics on this game. But it's not a deal breaker for me. I still intend to get this game when it launches. Hell, I like the starters in this generation alot more than the ones from Gen III and V .

And yeah, I was a Sega fan back in the day, what's your point? For the record, Nintendo was not the one who put Sega down and drove them out of the hardware market. It was Sony who destroyed them across two generations coupled with ill-fated decisions like the 32X. Nintendo did next to nothing to drive Sega from the marketplace. During that period, Nintendo and Sega were both being dominated by Sony in the marketplace.

But you know what, since the Dreamcast(and before)I have owned Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft systems.

Sega has been out of the hardware business for over ten years. Do you honestly think I would be here if I could not get over that fact? Sega will always have a special place for me, but I have also owned systems by numerous other companies.

So please, stop assuming you know anything about my tastes in games. And yeah, I'm complain about this game,other Nintendo games, and games that other companies make if I feel its justified. And you know what, even Sega is not immune to that. There are several things over the years that I have blasted Sega for as well.

I have every right to complain or offer my opinion on video games. I don't need to be judged. For the most part I like this new Pokemon game. About the only issue I have is with the graphics, but I'm even willing to give Gamefreak the benefit of the doubt on this one.

the graphics are ok(could be better though). but the jaggies looks kinda bad in the video. hope gamefreak fixes that.

2. I've played each and every generation of Pokemon beginning with Blue and ending with White 2 and I've been spending my own money on them from Gen 3 on. I criticize the series but I still like it.

Also, on topic: I don't know what the problem seems to be... on the DS, PSP, PS3, PS2, Xbox, Xbox 360, GameCube, Wii and even the almighty PC there are probably tons of rpg's where the overworld graphics look like absolute crap (which really isn't so much the case here, IMO the overworld looks pretty okay) and the battles look insanely good (which is the actual case). Whether the battle system has changed or not is irrelevant for now, since we don't have any sort of info on that (besides rumours or theories of course). So people, deal with it.

It's just a change of perspective. Pokemon was never about the graphics--just look and compare Ruby/Sapphire to Golden Sun or Metroid Fusion. That said, the battle animations and graphics look amazing--quite the feat given the large number of pokemon and attacks that will be featured in the game.

Since 1996 the gameplay of this franchise hasn't evolved one bit beside some gimmick here and there like the pointless breeding or dual battles which add nothing to the strategy of a game that is nothing more than an archaic turn-based game with limited options and cookie cutter progression. Even the first Dragon Quest game which came out in 1986 has deeper mechanics and overall gameplay than the newest Pokemon game from 2011!

And is not just the games, have you ever seen an episode of the Pokemon anime? It's like freaking deja-vu but all the freaking time! It's literally the same thing over and over and over again. This phenomenon is just plain weird if you ask me. Nobody milks like Nintendo and Game Freak. Period.

I understand there are some unreasonable people who come on here for fun to bash stuff at random, but to dismiss everyone who says a negative word about the graphics or presentation as a troll is not fair. And as I have said before, I'm sure the rest of the game will be solid. I loved all the previous generations of Pokemon, and this has the markings to be an excellent game. But I was hoping for a bit more in terms of presenation. I wanted a full-3D world like what Dragon Quest VIII had to offer when compared to previous Dragon Quest games.

But the rest of the game's trailer impressed me. I love the new starters, I love the battle graphics and animations have that Pokemon Stadium look to them, and I love the cell shaded look. I'm looking forward to this game.

It would be nice to keep in mind that not everyone is going to have the same reaction to the game. Different people have their own opinions of what 3D Pokemon should be like, and to dismiss them as trolls is insulting. So someone thought the graphics or presentationwas a bit under whelming. Why are they labeled a troll? I'm not bashing the graphics to look cute or get attention. I've openly stated what I was wishing for from the first 3D Pokemon on a handheld.
