Xbox World: Next Xbox Has A Tablet Controller

TABLETS SUCK, I want real controllers on consoles. Thanks everybody I'll stick with PC and KB/M for now.... and later apparently.

I couldn't care less what the next gen controllers look like. I'm already leveling up my farm in FarmVille preparing myself for the casual approach. The only thing I am hoping for is that the consoles don't block used games and this whole online pass thing and games being tied to consoles doesn't get out of hand. That's honestly all I care about.

Its a controller. The same button config that we have seen for over a decade, plus added functionality.

Some devs may use it for streamlining with huds and menus. Others may use it to offer new experiences completely, or bring genres to consoles that simply didnt work before.

I think your disdain for these new controllers is completely misplaced.

You are right. Having to break visual contact with your TV to look at a touch screen and jab at it with your fingers is a huge improvement over yelling and flailing.

With a normal controller, you can feel the different buttons and therefore don't have to look at the controller, sustaining your immersion in the game.

This is why tablets are so sh*t when it comes to typing.

I'm all for new controllers, maybe some which allow for more complexity so games don't have to be 'streamlined' in order to take a limited number of buttons into account.

so if i'm wrong, sony won't get any multiplats?

I love Nintendo so much, this makes me want to become a Sheep. They are such badass risk takers. And look how much confidence they have in themselves. They're like **** IT! We're leading the charge into the next gen, we dominated this gen, everyone thought our Wii was going to fail and it demolished everything in sight!

Nintendo just doesn't lay off the gas pedal! They have so much confidence in themselves and take the biggest risks ever! And they always win! How could you not like a winner!!??

And Mario is the best video game character of All Time. Zelda is pretty cool too! I'm not being sarcastic at all, btw, I really do love Mario and Zelda, and Metroid, and Smash Bros, and Mario Kart, and Donkey Kong.....

All the wii u controler really is is a normal controler with a screen and a cam on it.

If you haven't noticed, the thumb sticks are positioned ABOVE the face buttons and d-pad.

Not saying that the controller is horrible, since I've never used it personally, but it could easily throw people off.

Wii-U controller still >>> KB/M "for me." I realize it's an issue with me and not KB/M but I honestly think my hands are too large for comfortable, long gaming sessions on KB/M. Even going through HL2 I regrettably had to take frequent breaks due to cramping. Maybe I'm a freak. :(

cramping will stop once u get used to the **** over the years.

KB/M is like a glove for me. I can press every single key on a keyboard on command with a dang blindfold on without making a single mistake, and I could do it all day. I know a keyboard better than the back of my hand. It was all that World of Warcraft, Counter Strike, Battlefield 1942, Unreal, Quake, and other amazing games that did it.

I was gonna say, this touch screen will be very practical for simple things like just messaging your friends or God forbid, typing in those dang online pass codes.

With the way he posts, I wouldn't be surprised to read in the morning about some suicidal rampage in response to this.

hmmm. id have to see the controller before i judge it. not a terrible idea. hell the dreamcast controller basically came with a screen on it(that you could actually play mini games on). really wouldnt be surprised to see touchscreen controllers wih all the next gen consoles. as long as the controllers dont get too huge and unweildy id like to try them. helps i havebig hands. lol

yeah. a lot of these reactions seem pretty knee jerk. have no idea how this rumor(the part people seem to be forgetting) has anything to do with casualisation.

That actually sounds like a good thing.

I already imagine all the great things that could happen with the Nintendo tablet, but it'll be limited if no multiplat devs care to do a little extra for the tablet integration.

If multiple consoles have tablet controllers then we could potentially see some effort put into make some new game experiences with those tablet controllers.

Seems right considering how Microsoft is obsessed with touch devices these days.

If it is a small screen like the Vita maybe but still don't see how a tablet is going to replace a controller for CODor similar types of games.

See people: this is exactly why Nintendo don't show their ideas off. Because people just copy them.

2007: Wii is selling as a novelty and not for people to build a gaming collection.

2010: Kinect has "completely new" expiriences! YOU are the controller!

2012: Nintendo is not competing with other manufacturers. They are not competition.
