Oh man I hope it's true

If true,
looks like next gen is gonna be even more expensive, tablet gaming....
and game development for tablet gaming will be ridiculous and complex, I just wanted better physics, A.I, grafics and stories
Zaibach
Unfortunately the simple better graphics, physics, engines etc isn't enough to support the industry anymore and people need to accept that. Secondly, DS isn't complex to develop for at all. People often just add touch screen additions as a side function.
But I do agree that if this is true the next Xbox is going to be expensive. If it has avatar realistic graphics, an improved Kinect built in and now a tablet controller to add to it all. This thing is going to cost thats for sure. Personally I can't see MS doing a tablet controller or avatar visuals but you know, if people really have that kind of money.....
Tablet controllers for the win !!!! :(
mmm so far looks like next gen i'll be a PC GAMER only + a PSV, since rumours on the next xbox & playstation are not looking good (for me at least)
The lack of loosingEnds on this thread makes me sad :( Also, doesn't MS already have Kinect? Why on earth would they need a tablet controler? O.o? Unless their only objective is to try and steal some thunder from the Wii-U...Desmonic
Microsoft spent ages developing the Metro UI, they probably want to get some of that Windows 8 Touch goodness on the Xbox 720.
The levels of fear and unjustified hate in this topic!
I'll just take a wild guess and assume most of you started gaming last gen. Controllers change people. Often for the better. Its just been a long time coming and you kids arent used to change.
I went from this
to this.
then this.
to this.
to these guys.
To these guys.
Now its getting stale with these guys.
And though it was a fun diversion this guy just cant cover all bases.
And while I know I can always depend on this guy.
I'm more than ready to see consoles take a step forward with this guy.
So you guys can go QQ in the corner throwing tantrums, pretending you're "moving on". I'll be enjoying a natural extension of the standard controller and what it offers for games going forward.
:)
Nonsense truly !!
The next box has another year or two of dev'ing and nothing but nothing has been finalized so, just sayin.
Don't believe anything you hear and only half of what you see. :P
If MS follows through with this the third-party developers will be moving to tablet like experiences next gen because of the overwhelming market share available. Stop rejoicing cows, you're looking at the very real possibility of virtually no third-party support next gen.
So you guys can go QQ in the corner throwing tantrums, pretending you're "moving on". I'll be enjoying a natural extension of the standard controller and what it offers for games going forward.Wiimotefani am completely with this guy on this one, this is exactly what i was trying to say earlier, the only difference with me would be to swap the atari joystick with a speccy keyboard, this guy is spot on, saying that a lot fo the people throwing wobblys have not been gaming for 26 years, the only thing they know is a controller with dual analogs, change is always painful people, it always requires relearning and adaptation, deal with it
yea i dont see why people complainig that it *might* get a tablet controller. games like rts or tatical shooters could benfit from it.The levels of fear and unjustified hate in this topic!

I don't get it either. They said that Nintendo weren't competing with them. So whats this? I don't believe this rumour. This would only make the system more expensive and besides that it would be trying way too hard which is exactly why I don't believe it.
If this was true it would be like something where it doesn't know what it wants to be anymore. What would they be trying to do with this? Have some sort of Wii U 360? It would be extremely difficult for Microsoft to cover all bases as well. I'm putting this in the same pile as the used games rumour.
yeah i dont see why people complainig that it *might* get a tablet controller. games like rts or tatical shooters could benfit it.TheShadowLord07i am actually looking foreward to it after seeing some of nintendo's tech demo's for tablet controllers, it adds a new dimension to gaming that is really, really needed before gaming stagnates and every game just becomes a rehash of the same old, same old.

And let's not forget that this is simply a "rumor" at this point.. If true, and done correctly, it could be the new "it" thing in gaming..
On second thought.. I hope they implement it correctly.. :?

The keyword I read in the article was that it was a 'tablet'. The photoshop above is just a controller with a big screen (if u get that), not so much what would be seen or used as a tablet.

"tablet-like controller with a shape closer to Sony's sleek Vita handheld / Apple's iPad than Wii U's bulky unit"
Do people on this forum ever read anything.. or do they see one word and go ape s***.. :|
Microsoft are experimenting with a tablet-like controller with a shape closer to Sony's sleek Vita handheld / Apple's iPad than Wii U's bulky unit - it's an HD screen surrounded by the traditional 360 buttons and sticks.Xbox World MagazineSo pretty much this:

I feel like a certain demographic of gamers have been completely brainwashed--I'm not referring to you Delta, btw. The entire concept behind DLC, which MS brought here, seems to fly over peoples heads. I look at it as something that costs money, something that often times feels like it should have been there in the first place. However, there is a demographic/age group of gamers that just accept it as "how things work." This is part of something MS isn't seeing I think. Most people aren't stupid and I think eventually even these MW cr@ckheads will finally say enough is enough.
Delta, you have to look at things from a business perspective. Why should MS invest in new game development when games like MW can be released every year, which more or less require LIVE, and bring in tons and tons and TONS of royalty fees? It doesn't make sense for them, because the "core" audience is sticking with them regardless. So, hence their target audience with Kinect--casual gamers. They'll continue this next gen, and I think it will backfire. I really expect the xbox brand to flop because of this.
I'm 100% sure there will be a screen in the final build. They wouldn't experiment with it just for fun.
It might not be a tablet, but it will abnormally large and will have a sreen.
So pretty much this: That looks hot... but man controllers are going to be expensive next gen. :([QUOTE="Xbox World Magazine"]Microsoft are experimenting with a tablet-like controller with a shape closer to Sony's sleek Vita handheld / Apple's iPad than Wii U's bulky unit - it's an HD screen surrounded by the traditional 360 buttons and sticks.JollyGreenOne
fair enouh, stick to Pc gaming then, but i have been gaming for 26 years , i started playing games on a keyboard, i will adapt and evolve with gaming like i always have done, you want to be left behind then more power to you i suppose.delta3074You keep bringing up your gaming history like its some big deal..I've been gaming longer than you, so does that make my opinion better than yours? lol..hmmm
