The entire conversation was regarding the X1X which just happens to be what the thread is about. Why in THE hell would you talk about the X1?

Cause you were talking about the PS4.

Massive butthurt has caused you to lose your mind amigo.

@kingtito: think what you want. This was being marketed as a true 4K machine that the general public will view and play games in 4K where the Pro couldn't. I agree that it is more powerful than a Pro. However the specs that were given will not make this a true 4K experience in all games. It has a select few games that can support it with most of them not being graphically demanding titles.

It shows your little knowledge of how specs work with its weak GPU and even weaker CPU.

Nah, your butthurt has gotten used to Xbone sucking, you just insult the PS4 without even defending your box.

And that's exactly what it can do. Just because some 3rd party devs aren't aiming for 4K doesn't mean it can't do it.

And you're basing that on what, 3rd party devs? Have you talked to these devs and asked what they're goal is or if the limitations of the X1X is causing them to aim for 1080p? Didn't think so.
FACT - ALL MS games were running in native 4K
FACT - MS said it's up to devs to use the power as they see fit.

What it really shows is your unwillingness to see what MS has shown and said regarding this topic. Nothing you've said has proven otherwise. MS games running at 4K is proof and contrary to what you believe, a 3rd party dev choosing not to run a game at 4K is not.

I don't think you want to start slinging insults amigo.

@tormentos: So what you are saying is that Ms should take the Sony route and force devs to support native 4k on all games.

Answer me this: Did Phil not say that developers have the choice of how they use the power of the 1x? How can you even blame MS for this? PS4 is supposed to be a 1080p console didn't see you call Sony out for non 1080p games.

You can argue and bash 1x all you want but the undisputed fact is that the game will look and play better on the 1x.

You all are being duped by marketing. It's working pretty good by Microsoft as it has you all believing the system is going to do true 4K. Newsflash checkerboard rendering and dynamic res are not true 4K. The X1X is a nice system and would get one if there were any true exclusives to care about but sadly there aren't. I'll save my money and get an Nvidia Volta gpu. Also checkerboard rendering looks great on a 4K TV even though it isn't native. I know as I have a pro and have played HZD. When Nvidia GPUs struggle to do proper 4K, do you honestly think that the Xbox one x is going to do true 4K. You will have to turn settings down to a mix of medium and high settings just to get it there. I'd more expect Xbox one level of graphical quality to do 4K. Don't expect higher. You'll only be disappointed.

I'm not surprised. Looking at pc specs with higher numbers Xbx is already outdated. I just hope it's a very capable console so MS can entice more game devs to come their way. (I want an i7 build but I wonder if I can make due with i5, 980, and 8gb of ram for a few years)

Any game logic that runs on the PS4 CPU will run at the same frame rate at 4k on Scorpio.

So why is Ark running 60 FPS on XBOX and 30 FPS on Pro??

Because that 60fps is at 1080p and the build is GPU-bound. Scorpio's GPU is 4.5x as powerful as XO and 50% more powerful than PS4 Pro. So at 1080p the Pro would be ~40fps while Scorpio is ~60fps.

Ryse is the same way. At 4K you get around 30fps with CPU at 2.3GHz or 4GHz since it's completely GPU-bound. At 1080p, core speed of 2.3GHz still turns in ~60fps avg while 4GHz is more stable 60-70fps.

Point: Scorpio can run a 900p/30fps XO game built for 1.75GHz CPU on a 2.3GHz CPU at 1080/60fps or 4K/30fps despite the nominal CPU bump(i.e. GPU-bound performance).

Ark is a terrible example to bring up in these discussions. If you can't get your game to run at a steady 60FPS, in 1080p with a GTX 1070, you need to go back to programming school.

That's funny, the Path of Exiles devs got the game running on the XB1X at native 4k 60 FPS in under 2 hours.

@kingtito: I don't think you are understanding what I am saying. The one doesn't have enough power to support graphically demanding games at launch in true 4K. If before launch, devs can't get it out of it then the marketing was a lie. Just wait over the next couple years where games with get higher textures and the one will struggle. My 1080 ti can struggle with 4K which is leaps and bounds above the one. Please understand the limited gpu and CPU power that the one has. I understand that you are a fanboy of Xbox, but it didn't live up to its expectation. Great job for them creating something more powerful...I love it because it will transition to PC gaming, but the true 4K isn't accurate to what message it portrays to the target audience.

What the smart decision for the best gaming experience is to have a great PC and a PS4 for the exclusives.

And you base that off what? What's your definition of "true" 4K?

How do you know they can't/couldn't get it out? How do you know what they were aiming for? MS never said the X1X could do 4K/60 with ultra settings. If devs are aiming for typical console settings then yes the X1X can most certainly do 4K natively. It all comes down to what the devs want which is the point most of us are trying to make. You can't say MS lied when every game they've shown is native 4K.

No one said the PC wasn't leaps and bounds better but consoles and PCs aren't same when it comes to developing games given the nature of a PC vs console.

I understand but you need to understand you just say this PC can't do it with comparable CPU/GPU so the console can't. A lot more overhead with PCs than it is with consoles though PC has closed the gap some.

I'm a fan of all systems not just Xbox. It didn't live up to your expectation =/= everyone else and most definitely =/= MS lied or failed.

That would be your idea of a smart gaming experience but you =/= the world. To each his own and only that individual can decide what's a smart choice for gaming. IMO owning all systems is the smart choice for gaming.

Gears 4 uses a dynamic resolution in verses mode to keep 60fps.

From the interview here we get mixed messaging.

https://gearsofwar.com/en-us/community/gears-4-xbox-one-x

"The first and probably most noticeable improvement is, of course, that we render the game at native 4K resolution."

"Our team have set out to really push what we can achieve at a native 4K resolution while maintaining a rock solid frame rate"

But then...

"With that being our focus, we’re running at 4K 30FPS for Campaign/Horde and 4K 60FPS for Versus with adaptive scaling to ensure a rock-solid frame rate that fans expect from our head to head multiplayer."

So competitive multiplayer isn't native 4K. Add Gears 4 to the list I guess...

Add Gears to what List??

Do you prefer a game slow down and stutter or keep a solid 60FPS with No dips??

Dynamic resolution is the way to go until Free Sync TV's are standard. Just like every piece of Hardware known to man, XBX has limitations though those limitations are well above any other Console by a very Significant Margin.
