As he ran away and failed to produce actual evidence of his claims.....can you seeing as you agree with them?
The one who ran away was you by saying clueless, LMAO. You don't have anything to back up your claims apart from the dev saying vaguely PS4 runs between high and very high, that you're trying to cling to very hard since you can't disprove any features I highlighted as missing in the PS4 remaster compared to 2010's Metro.
Your desperate attempt to somehow equate PS4's performance with PC's 970 was also shot down since the benchmark was using SSAA, in essence at least at double the resolution of PS4.
Unless you have anything to counter my points, Bye.
And you're still running off........ still waiting for you to prove they striped it back......and you try and put the onus on me and move the goal posts because I call you out on your bull shit....... PLEASE.....PLEASE provide me with some form of proof of your claims and not what YOU THINK is missing......
Hahahahaha...
A GTX970 was a decent GPU...over 3 years ago.........Hahaha....
Even with DF's face off:
Could it really be the case that Redux on PC is inferior to the original version? Well, what is clear is that 4A has turned off incidental features where the performance overhead did not justify the improvements in the visuals - a good example are the split-second shadows generated by muzzle flash from the view-weapon, which have been removed. Some volumetric lights are absent, while others are handled differently in the Redux (light shafts, for example). Part of the reason this article was delayed was because we heard from Deep Silver on Monday last week that last-minute tweaks to the PC version were being implemented. In the event, this took the form of a couple of inserted volumetric lights that actually seem to look a little at odds with the rest of the game.
Our opinion is that the idea of the 2033 Redux being nerfed holds little water once you take a look at the advantages brought to the table - over and above the revamped and much improved gameplay we've previously covered. From a technological perspective, the enhancements in the Redux are legion: there are higher resolution textures and greater texture variety. Depth of field is massively improved with superior transitions between near and far objects. Field of view has been tweaked for the better, while general shading has also been improved.
These elements apply as much to the console versions. However, PC gets an additional layer of features not found in the Xbox One or PS4 games: motion blur is included, which sees a boost over the older version (where artefacts on the effect were commonplace) while tessellation has been significantly improved.

There you have it. The game on PS4/X1 didn't have the same feature set of the original and doesn't have the fully dynamic lighting/shadowing engine. Hell it removed some features in the PC version to coincide with console version. It doesn't have tessellation on PS4/X1, no motion blur, the lighting is downgraded and clearly missing volumetric lighting. LMAO, in the same article DF mentions that PS4/X1 uses post process AA so that also throws out your 'PS4 running it the same as 970' argument.
Yes, I know now you would cling to the second paragraph of the article citing 'Our opinion is that the idea of the 2033 Redux being nerfed holds little water once you take a look at the advantages brought to the table' while completely ignoring that DF here is comparing PC vs PC redux not PC vs consoles. In the end the point still stands, Metro on PS4/X1 iss not the same as Metro on PC in 2010 with completely dynamic lighting/shadowing engine. It's performance intensive features were left out.
You have proved your motion blur claim.... thank you.
Just the claim about tessellation, lighting and shadows to go....
LMAO the desperation. Actually I was wrong about motion blur since the consoles lack it completely not just lower quality of it.
Lastly, I see you're still trolling and desperately trying to pad the argument. DF clearly mentioned However, PC gets an additional layer of features not found in the Xbox One or PS4 games: motion blur is included, which sees a boost over the older version (where artefacts on the effect were commonplace) while tessellation has been significantly improved.
They are specifically talking about things the console version don't have. Also they have said it in the first para shadows generated by muzzle flash from the view-weapon, which have been removed. Some volumetric lights are absent.
The console missed all three features I have been saying all along with addition of completely missing the motion blur.Unless you have some facts to counter those, Bye.

Tessellation being 'improved'..... for tessellation to be improved on the PC version it has to be present in the console versions doesn't it....other wise they would of used the word 'added' instead of 'improved'
Now you claimed 'cut down tech'
Removing a few light sources and some volumetric lights isn't cutting down the tech.
You are also proving that the game does have fully dynamic light sources and shadows so thank you for proving yourself wrong.

Notice the : at the end when they started talking about features. Yup, they are now talking about features explicitly found on PC and not on consoles. Second they used the word improved because 2010's Metro also had tessellation and they couldn't have said added because that would be wrong. Notice in the very same sentence they said about improving motion blur. Damn your pathetic attempt at strawman argument just got thrown out the window.
It'scut down tech, it didn't have the fidelity or quality of the original release and had missing features like tessellation, volumetric lights and shadows. Even if it missed a single thing it would still be a cut down/nerfed version. Lastly it still wasn't the fully dynamic lighting/shadows game since as per DF's own words muzzle flash and shadows were removed and in the actual game you could see other shadows missing as well. The volumetric lights are cut off for the very same reason.

Fortunately the next generation consoles are outfitted with a lot more RAM than say the PS3 or X360, which lends itself to improved quality in the world. That being said, when you compare the raw GPU and CPU horsepower of the consoles it goes without saying neither Sony’s or Microsoft’s machine can match up to a high spec PC. Tessellation is an obvious victim of ‘console budgeting’, it is there – but it’s not quite as clear and defined as the PC version.
So you've proved motion blur...
You was flat out wrong about tessellation.....

No, I'm not because as per DF tessellation was an exclusive feature of PC and I also remembers from my time with it but even if I'm wrong about tessellation entirely absent from consoles as per your latest article it still says it was just there and not clear and defined as the PC version. And no they are not comparing it to the Redux PC version in the para but to the original 2010's Metro 2033. Further cementing this is their preceding para about Tomb Raider remaster:
It's indeed good progress. You have gone from quoting DF to any source that iterate your point by desperately trying to google things, just a little more and you would link to some cow Youuber. The bad news is I'm still right and you're wrong since the game on PS4/X1 was nerfed from 2010's Metro.

I didn't moved a single goal post. I said it was cut down, you asked me to prove it. I listed Lighting/shadows, tessellation and motion blur. All of which is found to be true by DF, by your very own source that you desperately tried to google for (which I'm sure is cherry picked since the search would have more results agreeing with mine. I was there when the whole downgrade Redux debacle was happening).
You know what is moving a goal post? Saying, Removing a few light sources and some volumetric lights isn't cutting down the tech. There's contradiction in the sentence it self.
Now the onus is on you to prove what I said was wrong and the version wasn't cut down. Here's another post saying how volumetric lighting was not just downgraded but completely absent from Redux and was later re-introduced to PC:
As you may already know, the recently released Metro: Redux was lacking almost all volumetric lights that were present in the original version of Metro 2033. Today, 4A Games and Deep Silver released a 1.2GB patch for the PC version of Metro: Redux that brings a number of them back to the game.

I was there when the whole downgrade Redux debacle was happening).
Now the onus is on you to prove what I said was wrong and the version wasn't cut down. Here's another post saying how volumetric lighting was downgraded in Redux and was later re-introduced to PC:
As you may already know, the recently released Metro: Redux was lacking almost all volumetric lights that were present in the original version of Metro 2033. Today, 4A Games and Deep Silver released a 1.2GB patch for the PC version of Metro: Redux that brings a number of them back to the game.

Waiting for your next goal post move.
I don't need to move the goal posts..... I didn't say that things were removed when they wasn't....you did.
I already provided prove of how you did from saying lighting was cut back and in the same sentence saying that it wasn't a cut down tech. Then trying to reword what DF said about tessellation, proven wrong run off to Google another source. Proven wrong there as well and now trying to say none of that happened.
Round and round we (you) go to defend the honor of the overlord Sony. Unless you have something to disprove the facts I listed, bye.
How much you've moved the goal posts is laughable........ What else did you say was cut back a side from tessellation?
I didn't moved a single goal post. I said it was cut down, you asked me to prove it. I listed Lighting/shadows, tessellation and motion blur. I have disproved your 'facts' and you've ignored them.....haha.....
Rise of the Tomb Raider...is...is that really it? Are hermits really that impressed by these graphics?
I'm not saying it doesn't look good, but I actually had to try to be impressed by what ROTTR was showing here because feel I've already seen better but I knew it was "supposed to be" impressive.
...all that power PC fans fap about and some how, some way, inexplicably it still completely pales in comparison to THIS!
A mere console exclusive. How much for that card again? lol So much for so little.
Just look at the mop hair and plastic faces of those ROTTR characters lol seriously, yall hermits impressed?
The difference is I don't have to TRY to be impressed by what's being shown in GOW referring to some bullet points that supposedly "should" make it look better than other games...GOW just IS that impressive and stunning without anyone knowing what tech is pushing it or giving bullet points for why people should be blown away.
And this is a current gen system system game running on "outdated" hardware, if multiplat Tomb Raider is amazing to hermits god help them when we see next gen exclusives for consoles.
All that power and ROTTR still looks like God of Wars bastard step child in comparison, and the same holds true for TLOU II. but sure...can't beat PC graphics as long as you never play console exclusives.
That looks worse than the FOTR gameplay, hands down worse in everything especially when you remove your focus from the 2 actors... my god man.
Classic Console-limitations though, non-sharp blurry image quality CHECK, Masked poor Texture and Geometry CHECK, Character models with immense detail but have jaggy rendering CHECK .... SMALL GAME WITH NO AMBITION OUTSIDE OF GRAPHICS... LOOKS GOOD CHECK, Barely holds 30FPS CHECK and last but not least, terribly small FOV over the shoulder garbage CHECK CHECK and CHECK.
Oh you set the bar so high, how ever will we manage?
"Buh BUH MAH SNOW DECALS HAVE MORE THAN 1 LAYER!!!111"
@recloud: more than likely it will because consoles will still held back by crappy cpus, and that 980 will be able to overclock on top of having a better cpu paired with it.
As a matter of fact we’ve already had four consoles released this gen and they still cant beat a gpu from 4 years ago. If someone bought the base consoles and the pro or the x they’ve spent anywhere from $800-$1000 on consoles in less than four years. Like I said before you get what you pay for... maybe not so much in this scenario.
@kali-b1rd: it'll play the games on sub 1080p, sub 30fps on low lol.
Good luck trying to play a 2022 game with the 980.
We all know PC gamers will be cashing in $400~800 for a new GPU, so much for pricing and "cheaper in the long run". Not.
You can't compete with price per performance with consoles.

Medium 1080p I would say... 30-60FPS.
A PC is what you make of it, many people won't care about Max 4k 100FPS, others will.
Other people will play 2004 games like World of Warcraft because it heavily outranks most modern games in the gameplay deparment and gets nice updates to its graphics making the most of its art style.
For some, matching a console and buying the same games for nearly half the price WILL work out cheaper... not having to pay £30-40 over 7-8 years just to play online etc.
Others? like me? 3 Monitors? GTX 1080? 32 GB RAM, 2TB of SSD ... do you think we give a crap if a console is cheaper? they are cheaper because they are inferior. And no ammount of of small-minded Third Person Action games with 200+ Size art teams will make a dent in that simple fact.
Price is a failing arguement, nobody cares about your personal finances here. The "Value" card is just another way of giving up.
My bloody keyboard is the price of a Xbox One.... I'd still take the damn keyboard.
@kali-b1rd: price is not a failing argument at all.
And again, good luck trying to play a 2022 game with a 980. Lol
Well yea it is.... because Value vs Enthuasiast is pointless... its a cop out.
Good luck trying to play a 2022 game on your PS4 Pro.
good Luck trying to play a 2022 game on your PS5 above 1080p.... can't wait for that mid-gen upgrade "So much for consoles being cheaper"
@kali-b1rd: mid gen upgrades are not necessary, the base consoles run the games fine on a 1080p TV. Nice goalpost move again lol.
Saying you're a enthusiast is pointless to the debate since most of the PC gamers are not enthusiasts and don't have the money to be, goalpost movement again lol.
And lol talking about the PS4 pro on 2022, this is completely lame and not related, PS4 pro was never the subject of the conversation, goalposts movements again lol
LMAO
You got owned by your spinning and deflection.
I agree but I’m not upgrading my pc anytime soon. Honestly I’ve been liking my x and looking forward to next gen consoles more than a pc upgrade. PC will always be ahead but you can also sit and ride out your pc till the wheels fall off which I plan to do.
A bunch of useless features to be honest. You won't even notice any of that when actually playing the game and to even see the benefits of ray tracing, you need to look at side by side comparisons.
Agreed, I was kinda looking forward to cards with more power. Instead with basically get the 10 series again with raytracing cores :(
It's kinda like when CPUs stopped increasing clock speeds and instead started focusing on no. of cores. The same will happen to GPUs due to the coming age of VR, AR and DL.
Moore's law is dead.
Now they're just focusing on adding more stuff on the die since transistors aren't exactly doubling every 1.5 years anymore.

Who cares about what most people have. GL striving to be average.
According to cows in this thread, all games on PS4 look like God Of War and Horizon Zero Dawn. No games take advantage of PC hardware and multiplats don't count.

But but the marketed awards and casual reviewers said these are the most fantastic games ever! It must be 100% accurate! /s
That BF V teaser looked mighty impressive as well.
I'm always a sucker for surface reflections like that.
Sadly it will be disabled by even people that have it most likely as it covers up a lot of detail that can be used to your advantage. For example if a guy shoots the flames infront of windows, it creates massive distractions and covers up detail of people sitting behind that windows that you can't see now even while they can. Rip you.
It's nice for more walking simulator type of games i guess like tomb raider. Should be a perfect fit for sony games.
works the other way too.
if a guy is trying to sneak up on you from the other side you will be able to see his reflection on a car or window.
we have to wait to see how useful it will be.
It just reminds me of far cry multiplayer times. where people where sitting in high grass covering themselves up on there ultra high end systems so the enemy would see them. Yet most of there enemy's had potato pc's with grass disabled through low settings and would see them from a mile away as there was no grass on there screen.
Most devs that know what they're doing account for that stuff. I'd expect that from Ubisoft, because they don't know shit about PVP, but Battlefield games have no advantages or disadvantages as far as graphics settings go. I'm not sure how ray tracing will be handled as far as advantages go, however.
I gotta be honest I just recently upgraded my GPU to an ASUS 1080ti.. and whilst I admit something like battlefield 4 on ultra, gears 4 on ultra look awesome on my 1440p 165hz screen, my xbox one x does a VERY comparable job on a 4K screen. I don't know how this is even possible but it does. I even plugged my PC into the LG C8 today and the difference really was marginal. I don't care I like playing gears on the 165hz monitor for MP but if all i had was the xbox one x I wouldn't be missing out on much.
Look forward to seeing these new games push the 1080ti! Cause right not I'm not feeling the value TBH.
Okay, I still haven't seen BF1 on the Xbox One X. Can you take some gameplay screenshots of it and post them?
@Epak_: I guarantee that those don't account for even 1% of PC gamers all over the world.
lol you and your sales, completely missing the point, it could 0.1% for all anybody cares, it doesn't change the fact that your peasant station 4 will never reach such performance levels, the point is that it is an option available for anyone who is interested, what does it matter if only a few people buy the high end GPUs? Besides even mid range GPUs outperform the consoles, I mean its not like you need something like a GTX 1080 ti to beat a PS4 Pro, a GTX 1060 or equivalent already does the job.
@scatteh316: If everything he said is true (and it is) then hes not clueless. He should upgrade tho.
Look, you have Metro: Last Light on console, right? Just show us some screenshots. We can compare them to some on PC that I or others have taken.
Prove him wrong if you know better.
@creepywelps: @Wasdie
Oh my God, I'm just reading this thread now, and Scatteh made a complete fool of himself. LMAO
I didn't see anything in the Tomb Raider video about Ray Tracing nor did it quite look like any of the other ray tracing demo's I've seen. Did I miss something?
Too bad no PC exclusives take advantage of the power....like Crysis did back in the day
I miss this so much!!!! PC gaming so much better when we had AAA exclusives that where built from the ground up like Max Payne and MP2. Medal of Honor Allied Assault, Half Life 2, SWAT 4, F.E.A.R. and Battlefield 2 ect... for me 01-07 was the golden age of PC gaming before graphics and gameplay got dumbed down. It sucks so much that we doesn't have them anymore this is what PC gaming needs back more then anything else.
Some of the games listed by Nvidia that will be taking advantage of RTX features are PC only which are Justice, JX3, Project DH and Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries. Although Justice and JX3 won't be that visually impressive, I expect Mechwarrior 5 and Project DH to be. At least we're getting a new MechWarrior game which is definitely one of the best franchises to hit PC. Project DH looks to be one of the best looking MMOs aiming to be Monster Hunter on larger scale. We're getting some revival in the indie and mid tier scene with stuff such as Hell Let Loose and World War 3 both of which look very good graphically. Then there is also the growing Chinese premium game scene with most of their games being PC only or PC first.
Here some screenshots of MechWarrior 5 utilizing ray traced translucent reflections, shadows and ambient occlusion.
Project DH early footage
Some screenshots of Hell Let Loose

You won't get it at all and even if you show him the differences side by side he will still acts like 'Na na, I won't accept. Hail Sony'. The guy posted a cherry picked image of a benchmark hoping I didn't know it includes the SSAA, he then tried to hide behind the PR words of dev then when I posted the DF article saying the same thing, he tried to run off to another random source and still proven wrong there. Now he's in denial mode. It's hilarious seeing him getting his a$$ handed over to him 5th time in a row.
First when he tried to argue that CryEngine was getting outdated in 2013 while in reality the same CryEngine produced a better looking game on a 50% less powerful console than his precious PS4 and actually it's GG who admitted in one of their presentation that their engine was getting outdated after ShadowFall and how they wanted to remake the engine for HZD.
Second time he tried to argue that current consoles has surpassed the tech in Crysis 2/3 by pointing to an indie game Tomorrow Children of incredibly simple world. Funny he was again rekt when presented with an example of Quake remake using complete ray tracing on Intel.
Third was the best, he tried to argue that PS4 has more than 5GB of usable RAM . I didn't even know until the very end that he was arguing for 5.5GB of RAM to one up me. I simply thrown 5GB as the ballpark figure at first, it turned out I was right and by his own source. He later tried to move goal posts by showing the cherry picked image of GoW's cutscene to show it's great textures and ran off when linked to the GoW screenshots posted by his fellow cows saying hermits are elitists.
4th is this very thread and 5th in another similar thread trying to argue over the very same thing in this thread. The guy calls my 970 crap and then in the same breath goes on to defend his PS4/Pro.

Ouch...poor Scatteh...lol.
It all comes down to the manufacturing price, competition and the general demand. The price fluctuates depending on these factors and it makes a fair balance between the power and the price.
I mean, you pay more for a PC, but you have advanced power over the consoles. Where you pay less for a console and you are getting smooth experience, already optimized for the released games on the paltform. While with PC you can customize the game as you want, you pay extra for that exclusive power.
Everything is fairly balanced in my opinion

with PC you also get a ginormous number of games to select from which for me is the number 1 reason to get a PC by a large margin.
