When I think of Zelda, dark and gritty don't really come to mind. I think maybe you should look somewhere else. Play demon's souls lol.

Zelda is a game for kids aswell, Im sure plenty on this board would like to see that age grouping excluded from it but that isn't going to (and shouldn't) happen. I think Zelda has its dark moments anyway, you can't really expect anything more and if you do you can always look else where.
I wish the quality of adventure games on PC's would improve but they aren't funded enough I guess, the ones I have tried seemed to be plagued with bugs :x.

A succubus that seduces Link?
You really believe Nintendo is going to be A-OK with that?
black_chamber99
nintendo would never have the balls to take zelda in this direction but I wish they did
Its not about lacking the balls to do something, its about what is best for the overall franchise. Zelda has always been a franchise that even in its darkest moments has remains something that anyone can enjoy without concerns about going over the top in terms of violence or sex.
If Nintendo is going to change a franchise that radically, then why not just make it a new IP? What would be the benefit of destroying an established universe, dividing a fanbase, and taking away a franchise that anyone could enjoy all to appease a handful of gamers that can't play anything that does not have a "Mature" rated sticker on it?
Honestly, suppose someone came up with the idea of making Superman a vigilante that killed criminals over the most petty crimes, abused his powers, had a gay lover in Lex Luthor, and basically went against everything Superman has stood for over the decades. Suppose he murdered the entire Justice League to remove them as threats and overthrew every government in the world and declared himself ruler of earth?
Now, suppose this was not done in a What-if story but changes made to the main continuity that would remain in effect in an attempt to make Superman "relevant with the times".
Would you support that? Would you claim DC Comics does not have the balls to reinvent a darker and gritter Superman? Would it be the best thing to throw away you fanbase to appease a handful of people who can't accept a franchise for what it is?
There comes a point where you have to consider what's best for the overall franchise. Zelda has seen darker entries, but there is no reason for the series to go any further then what Majora's Mask and Twilight Princess did. Once you cross the line and do the things you're talking about, then we might as well just stop calling the series Zelda.
Hell, at that point it should just be a new IP.
Darker and gritter has never been the main complaint of Zelda games. Even if Nintendo did those things you want, it would not suddenly change the formula, the gameplay, fix the issue with no voice over or anything else that people want.
All it would do is put on a facade that could end up destroying a franchise.
Absolutely not. I wouldn't mind going to the same level as Majora's Mask, although Twilight Princess wasn't much lighter than MM, but a game like those hideous pictures you gave... let's just say I want you and the Zelda production studios on the opposite sides of the planet, lessen the chance that your horrible ideas will infect anyone else.
Zelda games are for young children, taking the series in a dark direction would be a bad idea. It didnt really work for Harry Potter and it wouldn't work for Zelda either...
I'd love another Zelda akin to Majoras Mask (Not only the theme, but not using motion controls as well). I think it may be my favourite Zelda game, even over OoT.
Damn you two are making me want a Padukone sig :(
wanna share the british brown (i'm guessing) pride and make me one aswell? i'm terrible with PS
Oh and on topic, yeh TC i agree with you 100%. Also does anyone else think the Next Halo should be in third person, where you can level up and be based in telltubby land? Also master chief should be reimagined as a female culinary chef
Wut? :|[QUOTE="trollop_scat"]
Zelda games are for young children,
charizard1605
Eh, dont bother.
Some people seem to think games built for all audiences = games for kids. I'm sure the guy also thinks a movie like Pixars UP, or Wall-E can only be appreciated by children.
Funny thing is, all the people I personally know that love games like Mario and Zelda are in their late 20's/early 30's and its typically the youngsters that get a hard on for "mature" and gritty games.
What!? I take it you never played Majora's Mask. Just because the games aren't filled with blood and gore doesn't mean they are kiddy.Zelda games are for young children, taking the series in a dark direction would be a bad idea. It didnt really work for Harry Potter and it wouldn't work for Zelda either...

if a game resembling the tc's ideas and bearing the name of the zelda franchise ever exists i will quit gaming forever.
The TC's idea? I don't what was worse the art work he provided or the concept it's self. Who am I kidding? Everything he had provided was awful.Ill admit this, the series needs to do SOMETHING. Maybe add voice acting? LOL.
Seriously though, the game has been old for me for a while...I coudnt stand the last 2 Zelda games.

I for one, agree with you TC. Too long Zelda has been stagnating. It's time to shift Zelda into new, edgy territory.1. Change links boring sword. It sucks. Make it have a chainsaw on one end and a shotgun crossbow on the other.
2. Too long has Zelda refused to reward Link for saving her. Link, and the gaming community deserve it.
3. A giant pig? Lame. We need a villain who is intimitating. Someone who wears leather, has a goatee, and shouts a lot.Got_to_go
This is absoloutly ridicu--
..What kind of reward are we talking about?

First off, Dexter is my favorite show on TV. Secondly, nono no...I would literally strangle myself if Zelda had anything to do with the TC's art style. I'm just saying overall, something needs to happen to Zelda. I just couldnt stand Twilight princess or Windwaker. Nintendo needs to bring zelda up to speed with the times and maybe mature him a little bit.
Zelda is perfectly fine the way it is. There's no need to reboot the series they just need to take what they have to the next level. The last time I played a Zelda and was , actually still am, wowed is Ocarina of Time. That's not just nostalgia talking, the game is fantastic and I think you can't call yourself a real gamer without experiencing that game.
I didn't really like Majora's Mask although it has it's following and that's their opinion.
Wind waker is the first Zelda I never completed. I just got so bored with it. Start the boat sailing and go to the gym for an hour, come back and he's still F****** sailing to his destination. Sorry but there's a point to draw the line when trying to make a huge world. They went far beyond that line. I understand that a fast travel network opens up later on but that's far too late. The art style was fun and I loved it, too bad the game fell short for that 1 reason alone.
And then there's Twilight Princess. I don't know what it was about that game. I tried so hard to like it but I just couldn't get into it. Once again the gameplay isn't the problem. It just didn't hold my interest.
Lol-worthy. Looks a little like Zelda May Cry 4 mixed with Zelda Gaiden 2.TC Nintendo makes The Legend Of Zelda not The Legend of Van Helsing.
ugoo18
o.O @ MM being "dark." The "dark"est part of Majora's Mask was the fact that the moon was kinda creepy. OoT was a hell of a lot darker (See: Adult Link). I think the TC's idea would be interesting at the very least. Worth exploring, ya know? But no, the Zelda Defense Force is out in full, trying to keep anyone from playing with their precious formula that hasn't changed in 20 years.Greyfeld
OOT darker then MM? Now I know you havnt played MM. MMs' story revolved around a kid trying to kill the entire town population. MM was a lot more mature because it focused on darker themes such as death and spirits.
I agree, but Nintendo will never do anything like that. They are much to kiddish nowadays.-Big_Red-
"Too kiddy" doesnt change the fact that over the course of their history they made some of the most mature games I have ever played. Also Mario is way more mature than the likes of Gears of War, that isnt saying a lot though.
Case in point: Mother 3, Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box (published) this gen and Seisen No Keifu, Majoras Mask, Tharcia 776, Metroid Prime and Eternal Darkness.
wouldnt a darker take on the zelda universe be deluxe? they've been going for the light-hearted adventure approach for far too long now, its time to return to the gloomy atmosphere of majora's mask but push it even further
black_chamber99
Giving Zelda a gloomy atmosphere is not the same as turning it into some crappy fantasy game.
Twilight Princess actually was one of the darkest games in the series to date, so as long as they stick to that, I'll be happy.
No he wants Link to become an heroine addict and **** small children. Then it would be dark enough.Aren't MM & TP the answer ?
