Eh. I haven't played it yet, but I heard the fighting mechanics are fine, and the storytelling is minimalist for a reason. The main gripe is the imbalanced difficulty, and frustrating checkpoint locations. I would not base my purchase of a PC game off a GS review.
I was gonna get it until I heard it was 4 hours long. Decided to wait for it to drop to $10. Also heard the combat can get repetitive due to few combos and enemies. Besides that though the game sounds great. Higher than 6.5 anyways.

They're by no means the best.
Still, this game looks good, but I didn't expect amazing scores.

" Err wait, I didn't have to do that. All I had to do was click once and it would work. The right click being a fast hit, while the left click was a slower hit.

Brett Todd is alway 15 point or more under the average gameranking score. He must have Yathzee standard or something. I remember he also flopped grand age rome with a 5.5 while the average is almost 8.0. He blamed the game to follow too much on it's predecessor mechanic... That like flopping cod 4 because it's use it's the same game mechanic than cod1

I'd give it at least an 8. I don't really understand this: "Simplistic beat-'em-up mechanics." Zeno Clash has some of the best melee in video games and is more complex than melee in games like The Chronicles of Riddick.
Is it pretty much a general rule that any 6.5 review this website does (and there are a bunch) will have some total bullcrap reason(s) for detracting points?

This game had no hype whatsoever, and it's scored universally better on other sites. How is this damage control?
Crappy review... it's clearly not what the majority of the press or the gaming community thinks about this game. IGN just named Zeno Clash April's best game of the month (it beat Riddick and other big budget titles) http://games.ign.com/articles/977/977494p1.html The game has received very solid scores from big gaming websites: Hellbored: 8.9 IGN: 8.4 Giant Bomb: 8.0 Eurogamer: 8.0 . . ...etc...
An odd review, he didn't seem to have much complaints other than that he "didn't get it" and it's shallow($20 duh). Yet I got the feeling that he was even holding back somewhat, he really didn't like that game at all. Ocambo gave it 8.4 at IGN.

Yeah some of the flaws in those games are ignored and they become somewhat overrated but it's also true that if a game like this gets a low score it also gets a group of ppl defending it and overlooking flaws as well mostly because of it's inde/unique status.
