My condolence to spfx, at least the season turned out better than expected.bjvb15
That is true, and thank you. Happy New Year to you as well, friend. :)
1. Anyone claiming Ringer was anything more than an "okay" running back is full of it, and doesn't know college football.
4. I would absolutely love to see USC take on a Big Ten school in the midwest in January. I guarantee the outcome of the game would be reversed. Why do you think they always play Notre Dame at home in November, but in South Bend in October? Coincidence? Not a chance.
sith_acolyte15
Personally, I think Shonn Greene is much better than Ringer. :| Anyway, none of the matchups were played in January, but I notice that Penn St. is 2-0 when playing USC at State College (1993 and 1994) and 1-1 when playing USC near State College (the 1996 and 2000 matchups were played in East Rutherford). How about that. :?
At this point, I wouldn't even be suprised if the media came close to voting USC #1.sith_acolyte15
Nor would I be surprised. :(
[QUOTE="sith_acolyte15"][QUOTE="Espurs117"]USC split national title? Eat my balls! razman55

Ya they will probably give USC the title and won't care what happens in the title game. I wouldn't be surprised if it ever happened
What do you mean "if it ever happened"? They've already done it once!
That was a good win for Miss, and it could've been even worse.
And.. didn't the Big East win the bowl championship thing a few years ago? It has to do with matchups, not how good the conference actually is. I seriously might sick up the next time someone uses the Pac-10's 5-0 mark to say the Pac-10 is a power conference. Hell, they only got 5 teams in.
HAHAHA, 21-0 Utah, in the first quarter keep up the good work.geaux321*scratches head* I can understand your hate for Alabama. However if Alabama continues to suck, all the Florida critics will keep questioning Florida's right to the title. :x
And as I finished typing, Arenas returns a TD
I wonder how different this will be if Andre Smith wasn't suspended. Parker Wilson is getting pressured quite a lot. CommanderShiro
Oh no doubt it would have been a completely different game, he is their best player hand down. And I laugh everytime I see John Parker Wilson get hit.

I wished the Jags had Andre Smith... And I'm sure the rest of the Auburn fans laughed along side you.The 1st quarter was a repeat of WVU/UGA in 2005. Didn't Saban get the memo? You can't go into the Sugar bowl and assume you're going to blow out a supposedly inferior team. Utah simply outcoached Bama. Their offensive and defensive schemes were flawless. So, Florida fans, when Meyer goes to Notre Dame in the next couple of years, you can go back to Utah for your head coaching position. :) And now the bad news: the BCS-busters now pretty much have an automatic bid into the Sugar bowl! woo-hoo!
I hope Utah sues the BCS or something though when they don't get a piece of the national title despite going undefeated.

How do the BCS-busters have an auto-bid to the Sugar Bowl? Before UH, the last 2 BCS busters were in the Fiesta bowl. I am still wondering why the Sugar picked Utah in the first place. Did they think Utah was Hawaii. Then the BCS could say these non-BCS teams can't win, they don't belong, the last two wins were flukes. Or maybe, non-BCS schools can beat Big East and trick their way past the Big 12, but they can't beat the SEC. I bet they thought the big bad SEC was going to trounce them like last year. What are the excuses going to be now? Alabama didn't have one of their best players, well then don't break your own team rules (talking with an agent, he was already thinking past this game so he might not have made a difference anyways). I am shocked they won and I hope they shove it down everyones face (including me). Thank you Utah for digging the non-BCS schools out of the mess Hawaii made.
I think the people that pick the teams that go to which BCS bowls will definitely start looking at the MWC champ as quickly as any other conference, or something like that. But, I don't think Utah, or any other mid-major, can sue the BCS for not getting voted number #1, because the winner of the NCG has to be voted #1. Now, the AP National Championship is different. But I still don't see how they can sue for that.
If Boise had beat TCU and if/when Ohio State gets dumped on by Texas, then there was the possibility for serious issues being brought up about the Broncos being left out. Even though they were ranked higher.

Why not? Who would be more deserving?
Teams who play in good conferences. Okay they beat an overrated Bama team, cool. TCU? Alright, look what happens when they play the OU's or Texas's of the nation. (other than 05 when OU got owned at home )

But it's not Utah's fault that the MWC isn't a great conference. :? I still believe (and always will), that the prestige (however great or small) of a conference and the performance of teams within each conference (however outstanding or poor) should not always so quickly reflect on an individual team.
Sure, Boise St. was a tad overrated this year (no offense, bjvb, but the Broncos did lose to TCU after all). Their opposition, I believe, partially resulted in their undefeated finish to the regular season. However, I do not believe the same case holds in the instance of the '04 Utes, the '07 Broncos, and (certainly) this season's Utes. I don't care how overrated 'Bama may have been, they are still the Crimson Tide (and really, there is no reason why they couldn't have won that game).
You make a commendable point, Espurs, that (on average) teams from these smaller conferences get blown out when playing the nation's elite. However, I still think they (all of them) should be given their fair shot at winning a national title. Because (and it has now been proven, I believe, for the third time), these smaller teams are capable of giving the nation's elite a good run every now and then.

Nice excuss for the 'Bama win. I was waiting to see them come. Last I checked TCU's loss to OU was at OU and held them to a season low 35 points (I am sure you love the number 35) Sounds a little like UTexas' season (Texas loss on the road to TT). And don't tell me you wouldn't want TCU over baylor in the B12. The MWC was like all the other BCS conferences, top heavy and bottom dwellers.

Utah didn't have an extremely easy schedule like many would think once they see that they are in the MWC. They beat six bowl teams. They are the only undefeated team in the nation. They beat Alabama, who were the number one team in the nation for 5 weeks before the last game of the season, by 14. Florida beat Alabama by 11. Utah deserves to go to the national championship as much as Florida or Oklahoma or anyone else.
I think the people that pick the teams that go to which BCS bowls will definitely start looking at the MWC champ as quickly as any other conference, or something like that. A few states tried to sue the BCS this year already, so I was thinking maybe Utah could as well. Or maybe the mid-majors should just tell the BCS to stick it up their ass and make their own division of football, if that's possible.

TCU was never in that game. What Bama excuse? They were overrated. Ive been saying it for awhile, I said the whole SEC this year was overhyped. Other than Florida. Yeah ive said it many times before. I would love to have TCU over Baylor. TCU>Baylor, what is that saying tho? You put TCU, Utah, Boise, BYU etc in the Big 12 and lets see how many losses they have. Having to play Texas, Mizzou, OU, Okie State going to Tech and A&M and Nebraska isn't easy at all. Im not saying Utah doesn't deserve credit or a top 5 spot. But I don't think they should be above 3 teams. Florida or OU whoever wins obviously, and then USC and Texas if they beat OSU.

I am going to wait 'til the Fiesta Bowl is over to ask questions about your comments. Don't want to do a lot of ifs or send bad vibes UTexas' way.
[QUOTE="geaux321"]I look at Utah's schedule and wish Auburn's was that easy.bjvb15
Just because Auburn had a bad year, doesn't make your schedule hard.
Auburn had a bad year because the offense was inept. Playing teams with talent everywhere makes the schedule hard. UNLV, Utah State, Weber State, Wyoming, Colorado State, New Mexico, come on.

What if, instead of creating their own division or Utah being the only team to sue, the mid-majors collectively sued the BCS? Might that get them anywhere at all? :?
Cosby = savior. What a game! Damn, that was fun. It just dawned on me we will have to wait along time to see our teams after Thursday. But what a way to end it this year for me. :D
Oh yes to all those OSU fans talking smack after the 06 game and prior to this game(sportsdiscussion), ha! FACED!
