Meh Lol rather spend my time with stargate MMO then warcraft.Though i love warcraft also:)
Stargate Just seems more meaningful:D
Dev Q and A tommorow also guys:D
Haha lol
Hmm im actually considering seeing what WOTLK will be like.Might renew for a month:Plol
Or try WAR out(if SGW is delayed till 09)
Just to see how bad WAR is though of course:P
That sounds pretty awesome to me.Okay, so yesterday a dozen DEVs suited up and we tried to take out a single POI on Lucia (Compost Flats) populated with about 40 MOBs armed with automatic rifles and grenades. We were all level 18 soldiers or commandos, armed with appropriate armor and weapons. We fought CONTINUOUSLY for an hour. We ended the play session to have a discussion meeting. I became incapacitated twice. For some the game crashed (we're in development after all). But by the end of the hour, we had not taken the POI. Fighting was continuous. Hopping from piece of cover to cover, taking out flankers as they raced out onto the bridge, trying to do some flanking myself, I fought MOBs almost every minute of the battle. When I wasn't shooting, I was moving between cover nodes, trying to get better angles to clear LOS. There is no such thing as 'pulling' a MOB, taking care of him, dusting yourself off, and then pulling another one. The game doesn't play like that at all. Now, maybe if we had 20 DEVs, or it was in the middle of a busy Saturday on the server and the there were lots of people trying to complete the Missions at Compost Flats, the story might've been different. We might've been able to clear the POI. But not yesterday afternoon. Does that answer your question? And to top it off, everyone was raving about the FUN. Telling stories about when three grenades landed near the cover they were in and how they scurried away, etc.
Woot a bit of a look on what the game is like:D!!
Stargate_SG-1_
This isn't really info about the game, more of a nod to the game from the movie industry.
If you haven't seen it yet, WarGames: The Dead Code is a remake/sequel of the 1983 movie WarGames starring Matthew Broderick. Good movie btw.
Anyway, moving on. In the first 15 seconds of the film the kids are playing Stargate Worlds. Then later in the movie, the main character logs on to the game to talk to his friend.
Not the best movie I've ever seen and definitely not worth paying to see in a theater (hence why it was only released on DVD), but worth watching once none-the-less especially if you like the original WarGames.
Im kinda hoping the same thing considering its on the Unreal 3 engine and that game looks alot nicer. Though it it also depends on how many people are going to be on screen. Id also like to see how an asgard would fight or what benefit you would get picking an asgard over a human or jaffa. Atleast they showed a couple of shots from a staff weapon which was kinda cool.
Compared to the graphics of Demigods though it does look extremely spartan. Also hopefully voice chat will be implemented smartly since otherwise a teamplay MMO would not work very well at all lol.
Another Trailer from comic conmjk1
bangel99 isn't going to like that video at all. They guy was fighting Lucian Kasa (crazy corn) Dealers. :)
STARGATE WORLDS BONUS CONTENT WILL BE FREE
Stargate Worlds publisher FireSky will give away much of the game's ongoing expansion content for free to the massively multi-player online role-playing game's subscribers, the studio told VideoGamer.com.
"We're actually adding post-live content. We're actually developing some of that post-live content before we launch," FireSky studio head Dan Elggren told the site. "That's going to consist of new story lines, new worlds, new creatures to fight, as well as we're looking at adding two more levels, so going from 51, 52 and then so on and so forth. So that's new abilities, new armour sets and new ways of exploring the universe, as well."
This sort of additional content to the ever-growing game will be cl@ssified as "mini-episodes" or "seasons." Only full expansion packs -- such as the addition of Atlantis and its characters, locations, and gear -- would be sold in a box. But FireSky wants players to get new content for their monthly subscription, and not just patches and fixes.
"If we move to Atlantis or another universe, then we'll have a boxed Atlantis expansion," Elggren said. "But mini episodes and seasons, that's going to be free content that we're just going to hand out."
In related news, FireSky is planning for an open beta test early next year, shortly before the game's official launch in the first quarter of 2009. Closed beta testing will begin this fall with private keys, given to select players who agree to help test the game and not disclose details about it. But the later open beta should be available to the general public.
Check out the complete story now at VideoGamer.com. In the site's full interview, Elggren also talks in more detail about the game mechanics, character archetypes, and story line. Stargate Worlds is expected to be released for the PC (and PC only) in early 2009.

Sound similar to what they are doing for Lord of the Rings Online. When the game first came out there was an epic storyline that was only about 8 books long, IIRC. Since then they've added up to book 14. Some of those books included brand new areas to explore, new enemies to fight, tons of quests, etc. The new expansion they are coming out with at the end of this year is going to be Volume 2, and is called the Mines of Moria. I'm sure you can guess what that's all about. The expansions are the game developers way of advancing the storyline.
Seems to be what Firesky's plans are too and I think it's great. It's nice getting all this content for free that I don't mind paying for an expansion every now and then.
Sorry, but in an MMO new missions should be a regular no-charge update. If they said the Atlantis expansion would be no charge, then I would be impressed.
Looking at the game now, I'll probably wait for the Atlantis version so that I can play as the wraith and that most of the bugs are ironed out.

Oh, I agree. I think anymore it's SOP for MMO's to give you that stuff free so there's really nothing to be impressed by. That being said, at least now you know they aren't going to screw you and charge you for every little thing they decide to implement into the game though.
And yes, if they were going to give us Atlantis for free, that WOULD be something unique. I don't think an MMO developer has ever given an expansion away for free before...unless it was packaged as such. So when new people came along they could buy the expansion and get the original game and all it's previous updates for free. Star Wars Galaxies HAS done that in the past. They sold a package that included all the expansions and the original game with all the updates and everything for like $30. You couldn't beat a deal like that, especially if you were a newcomer. Some people, me included, bought it just to have a physical disk with everything on it in case we ever uninstalled and wanted to reinstall the game. Not to mention the in game items that came with it. :)
A 35 second gameplay trailershockwave04
More like 32-second trailer where 12-seconds is just the opening screen. Need more gameplay!!! How about something that's 45-60 seconds of solid gameplay? That would be nice.
Email I just received:

Indeed! Teal'c and Ba'al Visit Stargate Worlds StudioThe inimitable Chris Judge and the indomitable Cliff Simon made surprise visits to the Stargate Worlds studio and spent time talking Stargate with the team.
For Judge's visit, the highlight came late in the day when the team pulled out a staff weapon prop and posed with Chris under the lobby Stargate. Chris took the time to sign autographs and get individual and department pictures taken with the staff. He also found time to take in a round of golf!
Simon, the man that made the Goa'uld cool, visited the Stargate Worlds offices for an office tour and to get an update on game development. Simon posed for pictures with the team while each department gave him a rundown of what they're working on and the progress that had been made since his last look at Stargate Worlds.
Cliff left Arizona very impressed with what he saw, but warned that "Failing your god is not an option!"
The flamethrower video cracked me up. He keeps saying "We don't have anything to show you right now." and the game was going in the background where people kept using the flamethrower demonstrating it's capabilities as he was talking about it.
Nothing to show us right now, huh? Yeah, sure. :)
