What Gamespot Users have to say about Arcania: Gothic 4

A total disappointment. This game should not be called Gothic. It shames an excellent the series.
The game looked good only for the first few… seconds. The graphics look good but except from that nothing else seem to be interesting. Although my computer is a good machine I had problems with frame rates even when vi... Read Full Review

Gotic 4...so easy a caveman can do it!
I'll start with what I liked. I felt the graphics were pretty good. The game is a lot less buggier than it's predecessors. I also thought the weapon selection was alright. Not great, but alright. ...and now for th... Read Full Review

Don't waste your money, Go Buy Two Worlds 2. This is one of the worst RPGs I have played. Worse than Gothic 3.
I gave up in frustration part way through this game and I'm glad I did. I moved onto Two Worlds 2 and well there is "worlds of difference" between the games. I found Gothic 4 graphics well below par on a setting that ... Read Full Review

This game is beautiful and broken. Thats the way i like my women, not my video games.
Arcania 4 is set in one of the most graphical beautiful worlds that I have seen lately. I spent several of my first few hours of play time searching for high up vantage points to look out over the region. This however,... Read Full Review

How to throw away the Gothic brand and the ol'fashioned RPGs scheme.
Very little to say, this game is pretty awful. Nothing to do with the Gothic gameplay, nothing to do with the classic free-roaming RPGs. It's just another ordinary, pretty boring action game. The character developing s... Read Full Review

Yes, it has some flaws, but you know, it scratches a certain itch.
Let's start off with a simple "I like this game". That's the best way to describe it - I simply like it. Gothic 4 is a role-playing game that suffers from "comparison-itis". No, this is not a deep RPG filled with cha... Read Full Review

Thanks to the restricted freedom and other nuisances a very mediocre game...
Gothic 4 tries to uphold the tradition of older gothic games which were the top of their genre, but ultimately fails despite not being an absolute letdown. The graphics are probably the most positive side of the game, wh... Read Full Review

Bad dialogue, hard on the eyes and boring.
It wasn't necessarily hyped as more than it turned out to be, but it would have been nice to have another good old-fashioned RPG (especially since the last Final Fantasy was horribly bad). The most ridiculous thing I... Read Full Review

Arcania: Gothic 4 is filled with flaws, yet some how this game finds a way to salvage the broken pieces and be good.
Have you ever meet someone for the first time and said to yourself, "What a complete loser? I want nothing to do with this jerk." Only to later on realize that underneath that person's short comings is a really cool and... Read Full Review

Jowood destroys what little relevance remains of the Gothic series by releasing this haphazardly thrown together sequel
Out of all the obscure and incredibly hard to get-into European CRPGs this hobby has played host to, none have a more devoted and fanatic fanbase than Germany's famed Gothic series. With its startlingly advanced NPC sche... Read Full Review
