Could be a bad PSU - might not have enough power to get the computer to boot.

Could be that the CMOS battery is dead - these don't often die out on you, but from time to time they do

Could be that something on the MB finally gave out

There are generally several things the problem could be, until you narrow your problem down. I know that my little brother's older computer, the MB lights would come on, but something was wrong with it and his computer wouldn't boot.

We first tried to swap out his PSU, just in case that was the problem, but that didn't fix anything. So we swapped out his MB and everything worked just fine after that.

Okay thanks for the help, just got back from bestbuy with a new CMOS battery and nothing. Nothing happens, the fans don't spin up, the HDD doesn't spin up, but if i put my ears close to the PSU i can hear a high frequency sound. I think it might be the MB, but I'm not sure. How do i check if my gpu is getting juice. I have re-plugged the power button connection into the MB but I'm not sure which way they go in. I have a replacement warranty on my MB but the closest fry's store is 2 hours away. damn. thanks. any more suggestions.

Firstly here are my specs:

-ASUS M2A VM motherboard

-AMD X2 6400+

-Antec Tru power 550 PSU

-2 GB Patriot DDR2 memory

-WD 500 GB HDD

-IED Samsung CD-ROM drive

-(GTX 260 not yet installed)

After coming back from vacation i pushed the power button on my PC and it didn't turn on. This happens sometimes, but after i leave the computer for about 10 mins and try again it turns on, but no luck today. The mother board light is green so it is getting power, but the PC doesn't turn on. I have tried everything, un-plugging the whole setup internal and external connections and reconnecting, but still nothing. now im trying to isolate the problem plugging in differnet components one at a time. what could the problem be. thanks.

It depends what you mean by steady decrease in performance. If you mean the further along that you get in the game (chapter wise) the lower your framerates. Then that is perfectly normal as the later levels in crysis are more tasking than the earlier ones (computing wise). But if the performance decreases regardles of level and just based on play time, then i don't know what to tell you. Shut down all background processes before running the game, but you probably already know this.

he means that some high end cards have good FPS, but they don't run very smoothly. For example the 9800GX2. Sorry but i don't know the answer to your question, i noticed that my 8800 GTX ran smoother than my 8800 GTS 512mb, if that helps ppl understand the question.

are u sure it is not your sound card, i have the same speaker set and using onboard sound i wasn't that impressed, but after i bought a designated sound card the sound became crystal clear. Basically sound cards are important. But then again i play games with loud explosions and i listen to hiphop musics do i don't mind the bass, although i turn it down to around 2 on the dial.

If you don't mind adventure games - then Scratches: Director's Cut is a must have.

From horror-survival genre I would recommend Call Of Cthulhu: The Dark Corners Of The Earth.

Arronaxxx

I was thinking of picking scratches up, but it got bad reviews. Please describe this game more, i am a fan of any type of scary game as long as it is not too slow and boring.

why does Dom from gears look so much like the lead character Reaper from Unreal Tournament 3?
