Johnners, I'm guessing you are a Kratos fan and, in that respect, you and I have a lot in common. However, I have all 5 games (including Chains of Olympus and Ghost of Sparta) for PS3 and recently played through them all. In the end, there's only so many times that I can hear Kratos yell "I DO NOT SERVE THE GODS!" and "I DO NOT CARE ABOUT ANYONE" before it gets kinda old.
Although 3 was not was I was hoping, I think having 1,2,3 then Ascension would have been just fine. But squeezing the other two in there is just more hack n slash without really advancing the story.
It may be that they're trying to attract a "new" audience..... the multiplaying audience. Any game that caters to those people has a risk of the CoD effect.
I like how we can talk about "violent" video games as being the problem. I remember telling my grandmother's neighbor that I played Super Mario Bros where I jumped on turtles and mushrooms and she called it violent. It's all a matter of perspective.
Just remember, Elvis was not allowed to be videotaped from the waist down because of his "lewd" movements. Are we so worried about it now?
Ensamheten, your original comment is rife with hypocrisy. You say "L2P" (which I assume means "Learn to Play"), yet you believe harassment is part of gaming. I have an idea, why don't we let our gameplay do the talking? The "pros" you speak of in your comment below are the ones that win games while showing his/her fellow competitors respect by not mouthing off to do it.
Also, 99% of gamers are white males? Reference please.
I really like what she said. She's basically saying that discrimination is not necessarily occuring at the corporate level, but it's that there's not a lot of female applicants available because there are far more men than women studying STEM-related disciplines.
However, regarding the fact that EA employs significantly more men than women as being an "issue to fix", I need more information. If she means fix it by encouraging more girls to study STEM subjects (and therefore increasing the female talent pool for the gaming industry), then I completely agree with her. If she was saying that EA needs to hire more women just to get closer to a 50/50 split, even if that means hiring those less talented, then I absolutely disagree.
My guess is that she means the former, based on the general intent of her statement when taken as a whole.
Will the biometrics detect when I'm total raging on Dark Souls and promptly save and close the game before I work myself up into a migraine? Then I'm all in.
