ScrewAttack Page

Screwattack 1

I have now decided to make myself a page on the ScrewAttack internet page cause I enjoy watching all the Screwin Around and any other funny videos that they have up. I will only use that page so that I can ask the crew of ScrewAttack and give out some ideas if necessary. I would like to upload some of my work I've done on Gamespot onto ScrewAttack but the problem for me is transferring all I've done takes is a little too much for me since I've been doing some work at Gamespot in my freetime since October 2010. I already had some issues sharing my work with Playfire and they didn't take of my work very well. So for future reference I'm going to stick with putting all my work onto Gamespot as well as posting reviews onto Raptr as my secondary page. DevaintART will no longer hold any of my gaming updates besides all my High Scores and Completed Challenges I do in the future.

I hope I can work hard with this easier method.

AQWBlaZer91's First Impressions: Heroes of Ruin Eshop Demo

Game Title: Heroes of Ruin

Platform: Nintendo 3DS

Genre: Role Playing

Developer: N-Space

Publisher: Square Enix

Demo Released: June 8th 2012 (Europe)

Date of Full Game Release: June 15th 2012 (Europe), July 17th 2012 (North America)

Age Rating: ESRB: T, PEGI: 12

Heroes of Ruin

Heroes of Ruin from Sqaure Enix and N-Space takes the MMO experience onto the handheld consoles. The developers said ?they were excited to make a game specifically for [the 3DS] that makes use of its great connectivity and social features.? while also combining elements from other popular dungeon crawler series. There is now a playable demo for people to download and see how the experience translates onto a handheld.

Heroes of Ruin 1

The storyline has up to 4 people playing as 4 different mercenaries who are on a quest to find a cure for the ruler of the City of Nexus Ataraxis, who is dying from a curse. Players can join together to form an alliance together or can adventure on their own.

The demo has about 6 uses before it expires.

Before you start playing you need to create your character. In the demo you can only play as a Vindicator who is a lion warrior who uses a sword and healing magic to deal close range damage. The Gunslinger class on the other hand uses a gun at a long range and can drop bombs onto unsuspecting enemies. You can edit their face and skin features and change their colours to your tastes.

Heroes of Ruin 3

Heroes of Ruin is an Action RPG where you wonder around the world fighting monsters, meeting other players and helping out to complete quests. It works the same way that other MMO games have done before. Quests involve talking to NPC's and they will request your help. Quests will involve collecting a set number of materials or targeting a certain type of enemies till you reach the required number then you'll talk to the NPC again to finish it. You'll have many different optional sidequests but you'll have to eventually deal with the main story boss. In order to fight the boss you'll need to gather up your other allies in the game you're playing online. This is because most of the boss battles in the game are bound to be very challenging later on so you'll need the manpower in order to win.

Heroes of Ruin 4

The battles in Heroes of Ruin are engaging and challenging to master. On the Top screen it shows the gameplay and chaotic action going on while item setup, skill icons and quest information interface are handled on the touch screen. Like other RPG's you do need to spend some time fighting monsters so that they can drop items and EXP to make your character stronger. Enemies can also drop gold but selling unneeded weapons can give you plenty more Gold. It's probably used to buy better weapons later on in shops.

The battle controls are B button is your standard attack while Y, X and A uses different attack skills that you can perform. As your character levels up you'll earn skill points where you can raise your character stats and and learn new skills. You can have up to 3 different skills equipped and you swap for each new one unlocked as you see fit. Holding the B button does a charged up attack which is helpful for breaking enemy shields and for clearing out blockages in your way. The R button blocks while walking forward does a roll which helps to get out the way of enemy attacks. Your special attacks drain your energy but it slowly regenerates overtime. Your Health will also regenerate as well but however like in fighting games there's a bar that helps slowly recovers your health as long as you avoid damage for a couple of seconds.

Heroes of Ruin 5

In the game the battles can be handled with proper teamwork if you are willing to survive later on in the game. The great thing about the cooperative aspect of the game is that people can drop in and drop out on any game at any time. The battles are incredible fun with friends and it has plenty of Spotpass, Streetpass and also voice functionality which are in the full version.

The layout of each in Heroes of Ruin are supposed to be randomly generated making the experience very different. The details are quite decent with fine animations, spell effects looking very nice and each character looks are very impressive. The framerate does drop down when there more people playing and you'll might experience some lag from time to time on the default wireless connection. The Music track is great but however the voicework is very flat but overall Heroes of Ruin is a great looking game for the 3DS.

Heroes of Ruin 2

Heroes of Ruin is a nice alternative choice from Diablo 3 with the way it emulates the style and fell of the game. With the drop in and drop out coop play and the ability to take the game online with other players around the world makes this game one of the more refreshing experiences for the 3DS. As for me it looks like a decent option for me to pick up but however I'm going to stick with AQWorlds on the Web due to my heavy progress on it.

AQWBlaZer91's First Impressions: Rayman Origins Eshop Demo

AQWBlaZer91's First Impressions: Rayman Origins Eshop Demo

Game Title: Rayman Origins

Platform: Nintendo 3DS

Genre: Platform

Developer: Ubisoft Casablanca

Publisher: Ubisoft

Demo Released: May 17th 2012 (USA, Europe)

Date of Full Game Release: November 6th 2012 (USA), June 8th 2012 (Europe),
June 14, 2012 (Australia), July 19, 2012 (Japan)

Age Rating: ACB: G, CERO: A, ESRB: E10+, GRB: A, PEGI: 7+

Rayman Origins

The hero who has no arms or legs Rayman is back with Rayman Origins after spending plenty of time with the crazy Rabbids. Origins will retrace old school gamers back to when Rayman started out as a 2D platformer. Origins was released on consoles back in 2011 and now the following year it now makes it's onto the PlayStation Vita and the Nintendo 3DS so that Rayman can express his old school ways on the go.

The Demo can be played for 30 uses before the demo expires.

Origins tells the story of Rayman who has to rescue the Electoons from the old granny from the Land of the Livid Dead and spreads the monstrous creatures throughout the world. Rayman sides with his best friend Globox who might share their tastes and are happy to slap each other.

Rayman Origins 1

In the Demo there are about 3 levels for you to play which 1 is platforming, 1 for racing and 1 which plays as a horizontal 2D shooter. In each stage your main goal is too reach the end of the stage without dying or falling down a pit. On the bottom screen shows your current progress before you reach the goal while the gameplay is on the top screen.

On the first level you work your way through the forest to free all the Electoons that are imprisoned and scattered around each level. The controls are easy to pick up but takes a while to grasp it.

You use the Circle pad or the D-pad to move Rayman around and you Hold L or R to Sprint, X or Y uses punch attacks and you can hold it down for a power punch and B and A Jumps while holding it lets you fly for a brief moment. You can also Jump from walls to get to high places you can't reach. You'll also hang onto ropes and slide around and can jump from one rope to another. You're bound to get used to the easy controls after a while but sometimes you'll end up slipping all over till you fall to your death.

Rayman Origins 2

You'll also find hidden doors which will have Electoons locked up in Cages and you can break them open to free the Electoons. There are about 7 of them to find in each stage. After each stage you will earn another freed Electoon depending on how many you collected. The good thing is that you can replay these levels so that you can find the Electoons you missed.

Rayman Origins 3

On the racing level you got to chase down a monster down the caves but however the camera can kill you if you're slow to react or if you make a mistake in your Jump. I should point out that one hit is enough to kill you but you can find a heart which can give you another hit. You'll end up repeating the stage again cause the monster can easily outrun you so it takes an hour or so to win.

Rayman Origins 4

In the Shooting stage you control a Miskito to shoot down incoming enemies that pop up. You use the Y or X to inhale objects and A or B to Shoot them. Using the A button alone fires small bullets at enemies. Other gamers can compare this R-Type, Life Force or Gradius but this is quite an enjoyable stage to playthrough.

Overall the gameplay in Rayman Origins has a very enjoyable gameplay experience and you'll enjoy the fun filed platforming stages alongside the racing and shooting stages which the racing suffers from the frustrating level design and annoying camera.

Rayman Origins 6

Rayman Origins was orginally on the 360, PS3 and the Wii last year and on the 3DS and everything that it's previous release outstanding is transferred very well onto the handheld. Dark toned forests, caves and other outside environments are amazingly detailed with the 3D on or off. Character animations are detailed incredibly well and it's funny to watch the enemies and characters inflate before they burst. The sound effects are great with the grants included and also the music is impressive with tropical island style beats.

Rayman Origins 5

Although I haven't played the console version nor did I play the original Rayman game on the PlayStation One but this game is pretty amazing for a 2D platformer that goes back to the old school days. Maybe I'll get this and see how much old school can Rayman get.

Although it's pointless for me to post my first impressions playing the demo due to the games already out but I'm doing this to show off my opinions on playing it.

AQWBlaZer91's First Impressions: Pyramids Eshop Demo

AQWBlaZer91's First Impressions: Pyramids Eshop Demo

Game Title: Pyramids

Platform: Nintendo 3DS Download

Genre: Puzzle/Platform

Developer: Enjoy Gaming Ltd

Publisher: Visual Impact Productions

Demo Released: March 22nd 2012

Date of Full Game Release: October 20th 2011 (Europe)

Age Rating: PEGI: 7+

pyramids

Pyramids is puzzle where you play as an explorer who has to work his way through the Pyramids in order to escape. In the Full version you get to play through 6 different worlds that have about 9 levels each. You can also scan in using the QR Code to download free levels.

pyramids1

In each stage you need to find collect an artifact which opens the exit leaving you to the move on. There are also coins scattered about each area and upon each completion you are ranked by completing the level and finding the coins within the time limit. If the time runs out in this game you lose the bonus instead of restarting the level which is very strange for video game standards.

pyramids2

The gameplay is handled with the gameplay on the top screen while the touch screen only shows you the button controls.

Each level has some traps that you'll need to avoid otherwise you'll die and restart the level. You do have unlimited life's on this game so you can try again as many times as you like till you beat it.

In many of the Levels you'll find some ammo for your gun to shoot down enemies that get in your way. It's also funny that when shooting in the air your character floats for a split second.

Each level layout is different so you have to memorize each layout to decide the best strategy to complete the stage.

One of the key mechanics of the game is using the ability to make blocks appear and disappear from either below you or from side to side. You can use the blocks to get to higher places that you can't reach.

pyramids3

Sometimes you won't be able to reach some items in the levels due to the level design. While most of the level design does look simple for completing the stages for the artifact but when it comes to grabbing the other items it becomes a pain because sometimes you'll find out that some items are placed at the right side of the exit that you can't jump over for example. Unless you could ever figure most of the layouts out you'll perhaps have to just play the level several times before you'll figure the solution out. In general Pyramids gameplay looks pretty decent but it's curious game design doesn't solve the biggest puzzle that this game has to offer.

For a downloadable game the graphics, animations and particle effects are decent but however the framerate stays at roughly 30 frames during gameplay but there are times where the framerate drops with the fire effects and the explosion effects. In 3D the game looks pretty dull and blurry that the game is meant to be played with the 3D slider off. The music is just one loop that plays over and over again but at least the sound effects are alright.

pyramids4

Overall Pyramids would be an okay puzzle game to download but however the true puzzle to solve lies within the overall gameplay and level design. Unless you can cope with it then maybe for £3:60 it might be worthwhile to download for any puzzle fan. For me personally I don't feel that this isn't the right puzzle for me to download and solve on my own.

Although it's pointless for me to post my first impressions playing the demo due to the games already out but I'm doing this to show off my opinions on playing it.

AQWBlaZer91's First Impressions: Rhythm Thief & the Emperor's Treasure Eshop Demo

Game Title: Rhythm Thief & the Emperor's Treasure

Platform: Nintendo 3DS

Genre: Rhythm, Puzzle, Adventure

Developer: Sega, Xeen

Publisher: Sega

Demo Released: March 15th 2012

Date of Full Game Release: January 19th 2012 (Japan), April 5th 2012 (Europe), April 12th 2012 (Australia), July 10th 2012 (North America)

Age Rating: ACB: G, CERO: B, ESRB: E10+, PEGI: 12

Rhythm Thief

In today's world rhythm games are all about key fitness and perfect timing and that been what Konami's Dancing Stage games were all about. Sega has had their great taste in rhythm games too and now Sega brings along Xeen to bring to bring the funk with Rhythm Thief & the Emperor's Treasure for the 3DS in which you can now play a short demo from Eshop.

This groovy demo has about 20 uses before it expires.

Set in Paris the main protagonist Raphael is searching for the whereabouts of his father who has gone missing. His clue to finding him is a coin that was left in his possession bears a symbol along with a necklace bearing the symbol that his father is searching for. He'll also meet a violinist girl named Marie who carries a violin with the same symbol that his coin as well. I watched a short sneak peek trailer of this on the internet and the script and English translation are well done.

Rhythm Thief 5

In the Demo there are about 3 different minigames to play with no look at the Adventure Mode. The 3 minigames are the Dancing stage, the Hiding stage and finally the Showdown stage. Each of these stages can either be played with either the Buttons or on the Touch Screen. Before you start to play the event you got the option to have the onscreen Guide on or off. At the end of each your rank is depended on how well your timings are and you're given a letter depending on your overall performance.

Rhythm Thief 1

On the Dancing game you use the Touch Screen to follow the current movements shown on the top screen. These movements include sliding Up, Down, Left, Right and in a Circle to perform different dancing moves. You have to ensure the timings are correct to the other characters on screen but sometimes you'll might accidentally rush and given a Harsh for that timing. The downside of this game is the way the game can penalize you critically for one Harsh Timing.

Rhythm Thief 2

The next minigame is the Hiding one where you use the Touch Screen to click on the 4 different coloured actions that matches the statue's colour to hide from the guards on patrol. It's pretty easy to time it correctly but with at least 2 or more that appears on the screen at once it can be difficult to time each Touch on the Icons so it requires you to react fast in order to get your timings. Still this is a fun minigame to play on.

Rhythm Thief 4

The third and last minigame on this demo is the showdown with the knights and you battle them with your funky moves. You play this using the D-Pad and the A Button. You press the buttons as soon as the knights come in close contact to punch them. It starts to get a little bit faster and both sides so you'll need to react quickly on your buttons to get the timings correct. This is a really additive minigame to play as it's fun to knock these Knights out. You do earn coins for completing each minigame but I'm going to assume that are used in the Adventuring portions in the full game. Overall each minigame is quite additive and fun but however the way the game penalizes you can hamper your overall performance.

Rhythm Thief 3

The games cell-shaded visuals are quite good for how stands out on the 3DS. With the 3D on the characters shine really well alongside the nice displays of the city of Paris. The visual effects are quite good alongside the portrait artwork. The music track is outstanding for bringing out the funk and the English voice acting is very solid.

Although I'm not into rhythm games in general but however Rhythm Thief is quite an enjoyable experience to have on the Handheld. There plenty more to see in the full game but however I've wouldn't be too interested into playing the full game if my dancing moves wouldn't be able to keep up with the game.

Although it's pointless for me to post my first impressions playing the demo due to the games already out but I'm doing this to show off my opinions on playing it.

Nintendo 3DS Demo First Impressions

Nintendo 3DS

I decided to give out some first impressions about the demos I play on the Nintendo 3DS. Every now and then I?m going to write about each demo I play though and then type some stuff about them. Right now I did about 5 of them so far I think, so you an check them out if you want on my Previous Blogs page.

Top Tens

Top 10

I haven't been working on the top tens in a long while but I recently started thinking that maybe in next coming weeks I'm going to work on 3 possible Countdowns and I won't explain what they are yet. I don't know when I'll start them after the First Impression Blogs are done.

Screwattack DeathBattle Link VS Cloud

Death Battle

I'm extremely desperate at the next DeathBattle on ScrewAttack which is between Link from Legend of Zelda and Cloud from the Final Fantasy 7. I hope this gets done this week so that I can watch but depending on the results I may change my schedule instead of doing more reviews and blogs.

Screwin Around Challenge Monday Ideas

Screwattack

I recently just watched the new Screwin Around video where they beat The Simpsons arcade and Nick second failure at Mickey Mouscapade. Also Craig the boss at ScrewAttack is running out of ideas so How about heading over to ScrewAttack on the Screwin Around wall and come up with a list of different possible Video game challenges that they can do. In my freetime I'm going to come up a couple myself, some I'll come up with very easy ones or ones that are incredibly hard or near near impossiable.

AQWBlaZer91's Top 10 Countdown: The Top 5 Namco Characters for upcoming SSB

AQWBlaZer91's Top 10 Countdown:

The Top 5 Namco Bandai Characters that should appear in the new Smash Bros Game

Namco Bandai

What if I to say that I heard that Nintendo is going to be working with Namco Bandai for their new Super Smash Bros project for the Wii U and 3DS. With this surprising news how about doing some lists about what Third party characters they hope to see in the Smash Bros. From both of the Namco and Bandai universes I present a list of the my 5 choices of the characters that I think should enter the arena with the Nintendo Mascots. To make this list count I going to pick one from each different franchise and also ones that have appeared on Nintendo Platforms. Which characters from these universes

5: Klonoa

Klonoa

Klonoa started his time on the PlayStation systems but has had a Klonoa RPG for the GBA in Japan alongside a remake of the first game on the Wii. With the power of his ring that can allow him to float for a second and throwing his opponents into one another or out of the ring. Klonoa could make himself a decent addition to the Smash Bros roster.

4: Kid Goku

Game: Dragon Ball Z

Dragon Ball Z Goku

Since Namco's merging with Bandai I think we can add Goku to the roster but maybe his kid persona is the best possible choice for the sake of fairness. Goku can fly on his nimbus cloud back to the arena and pull off deadly attacks with his staff and his KAMEHAMEHA!!! as his final smash.

3: Lloyd Irving

Game: Tales of Symphonia

Lloyd Irving

While the series has concentrated on PlayStation systems over the years but however the series popularity boosted when Tales of Symphonia was made on the Gamecube outside Japan. Lloyd Irving is the perfect choice for Tales of Fans with his Artes like Demon Fang, Tempest, Beast, Tiger Blade and Sword Rain. His Final Smash should be Divine Justice where anyone inside it's area gets blown out instantly.

2: Jin Kazama

Game: Tekken

Jin Kazama

Although Tekken mostly dominated at arcades and on PlayStation systems inculding Tekken 6 made it's appearance on the Xbox 360 but Tekken did hold up a Tournament the Gameboy Advance and recently on the Nintendo 3DS in 3D. Jin Kazama should be able to get a chance to rid of his Bloodline to face off rivalry against other Nintendo characters. Jin has the power of traditional karate which pull off deadly combos and his unmatched rage. His Final Smash should unlock his ability to unleash his Devil Gene which can shoot his lasers at his opponents.

1: Pacman

Pacman

Namco wouldn't be here if it wasn't for their waka waka dot munching mascot Pacman. Pacman could throw food at his opponents and also use the pellets to freeze the opponents in their place and munch them up as his Final Smash attack. If there's any Namco Bandai character that needs to show himself for the Smash Bros showdown then Pacman makes it at Number 1 on this countdown.

Pandora's Tower

Operation Rainfall

Rainfall

As you already know that in Europe the 3 J-RPGs are now released now Xenoblade is now released in the US. The Last Story has a trailer in the US right now so hopes to you guys in the US that you'll get The Last Story for the Wii. In Cardiff Town I picked up the 3rd game of Operation Rainfall called Pandora's Tower. I going to help support Rainfall by buying 3 of these titles and maybe reviewing them if I ever get the chance. I now need to add The Last Story and then finally Xenoblade Chronicles. I going to get Xenoblade Chronicles last because the game is more expensive in a lot of areas but I've seen The Last Story for about £29.99 in Game, I got Pandora's Tower for about £24.99.

I hope that I can support Operation Rainfall in any other way I can to help bring more support to J-RPGs that need to be more modern. Also this is also to help bring Final Fantasy to it's knees for their suckage.

Playfire

Well ever since I started putting all my stuff unto Playfire I've been receiving nothing more then some hard criticism on my pages. In order to make up for this I've decided to clean up my page by removing all my reviews from that site. I'm only now going to place all my reviews on Gamespot and Raptr as well as sharing it on my Facebook and Twitter for people to read. I apologize in advance for this unfortunate dilemma.

I was thinking also about sharing my reviews that I've done so far on Screwattack but however I'm thinking that it would be a little too much for me to do cause I'll be stressed out putting everything on there so all my work is going to stay with the two sites so far. I hope that this makes it easier for myself in the future.

mario and sobic 2012

The pair of Nintendo and Sega have had plenty of rivalry since the Super Nintendo and Mega Drive wars back in 1991. For their tag along debut they haven't found the right place in the Medal Standings. The mascots take the contest to the upcoming London 2012 Olympic Games on both the Wii and also the Nintendo 3DS. While the Wii version is mostly unimproved from it's older installments but the 3DS version is trying to follow its Wii counterpart with it's Gyro Controls. Does it help finally to earn a medal on the stand?

mario and sonic 9

This Demo can be used for about 20 times before it expires and you can play through 5 events in about 5 minutes in total. The events you play in the demo are 25 Rapid Fire Pistol, Football, Trampoline, 100m Backstroke and finally the BMX.

mario and sonic 10

The events can either be played with the Buttons, Stylus or the Buttons depending on which minigame. In the demo it chooses the character for you to play each event on but on the full version you can play as anyone on any event.

The first event is 25m Rapid Fire Pistol. This is played by using the L Button to fire when the cursor is locked onto a target. The cursor moves by itself so you can't control it. I wish that the game could be handled with the Stylus. After each round the cursor goes faster making it harder to time your shots. This makes it the second weakest of the minigames.

The second event is perhaps the worst of the five events on this demo and that is the Football. Football plays like a penalty shoot out where you have to try and outguess the keeper. You use the Circle Pad to ready yourself ready to shoot as well as aiming your shot. You have to wait for the ball close to you and then you release the Circle Pad to shoot the ball. Sometimes you'll get screwed up cause You got another robot blocking your shot or sometimes you'll might miss the ball cause of bad timings since it's difficult to consintrate on either the ball, the aiming and the other robot who's in front of the keeper. I hate this event the most due to it's design flaws.

mario and sonic 2012 8

The Third event is the Trampoline and this is the favorite of the 5 events on this demo. You simply use the Circle Pad to maneuver around while pressing the A button just as soon as you land on the Trampoline to receive a little boost on your next jump. You have to make sure that you time it well and also in the current position or you'll miss. It's easy to play and at least your record is based on how well you time your jumps.

mario and sobic 2012 5

The Fourth event is the Backstroke swimming where this controlled with the stylus and this is quite fun to play. You can your strokes by drawing a loop on the touch screen so that the loop stays inside the circle to receive a small boost by a percentage. After you reach the first side of the pool the controls reverse. This makes another one of my favorite events of the 5 and it's easier to control then the Swimming event on the Wii version of the original game.

mario and sobic 2012 3

The Last event is the BMX where you got race your opponent to the finish. It is controlled by using the Circle Pad for turning and repeatedly pressing A button when you ride of a ledge and then you're supposed to gently tilt the forward to land safely. Sometimes this works while othertimes it doesn't, you've just got to be lucky for it to work. I tried to tilt it forward but sometimes that also doesn't work. This is another weaklink of the 5 events on this demo. In all most of the minigames in the full game would be okay but some of them blog down with frustrating controls and disappointing mechanics.

The characters of both universes do look great but however no matter what event is the characters still wear the same basic costume besides the girls who change their outfits for the swimming events. The crowds are seen and are rendered much better then the older 2 installments and the areas do look better as well. The game also does look great in 3D as well. The soundeffects along with the soundtrack are decent to listen to alongside the new voiceacting of the Sonic characters.

mario and sobic 2012 2

For me it's better on some levels in comparison to the older games but however some of the other games could have been better then a few other minigame compilations on the market. I would give the full game a try to see the Adventure mode and the other minigames but however I'll pass from entering the olympics.

Although it's pointless for me to post my first impressions playing the demo due to the games already out but I'm doing this to show off my opinions on playing it.
