![02.jpg](http://www.ntsc-uk.com/reviews/ngc/MGSTwinSnakes/02.jpg)
The Twin Snakes is a remake of one of the best titles for the PSOne. The GameCube update features graphical improvements over the original. Using the game engine from Metal Gear Solid 2 with First Person gunplay, new cinematic cut scenes that are redone with a revised translation and recorded voice acting with the English cast from the original. The enemy AI was improved as well as retaining several features including the storyline that made the original game amazing as it was back then. It's a shame that it got released on a system that really didn't get as much spotlight as the PS2 and the original Xbox.
8: Lara Croft Tomb Raider Anniversary
Platform: PS2/Wii/Xbox 360
Developer: Crystal Dynamics

In 1996 Tomb Raider for the PC/Saturn and PSOne was a well praised Action/Adventure game which physics were outstanding and the gameplay were innovative for its time. It was a chance for another video game Heroine to make the scene. After a very long while of questionable sequels including Angel of Darkness which was the worst of them, Lara Croft returns to her original title for her 10 Year anniversary celebration with her remake of the original. Crystal Dynamics reboot the franchise with skilfully balanced involved set of environmental assault causes with just the right amount of handholding to keep the action flowing. There were also Wii specifically events made for the Wii version such as Lara having to find a cog and place it, along with smaller gears already in the mechanism, in the proper position to make a working switch alongside swimming working with Nunchuck motions and Wii Remote handling her guns. There's no better time for Lara Croft Anniversary to have Crystal Dynamics take over for the series.
7: Bionic Commando Rearmed
Platform: Xbox 360/PS3
Developer: Crystal Dynamics
Release Date: PSN: JP: August 13th 2008, NA: August 14th 2008, EU: August 15th 2008, XBLA: August 13th 2008, PC: August 14th 2008

Bionic Commando Rearmed became one of best downloadable titles when launched back in 2008. As an updated and enhanced version of the original 8-bit NES game, this rebirthed 2-D, side-scroller features updated weapons (such as using your bionic arm to launch barrels), mini-games for hacking into enemy networks and full cooperative play with a friend. It's a shame that its sequel felt shallow and didn't focus on what NES title was known for.
6: Ninja Gaiden Sigma
Platform: PS3
Developer: Team Ninja
Release Date: PlayStation 3: JP: June 14th 2007, NA: July 3rd 2007, EU: July 6th 2007, AUS: July 13th 2007, PS Vita: NA: February 22nd 2012, EU: February 22nd 2012

Before Team Ninja tagged alongside Nintendo to take Samus into a cinematic storyline that fans would say it's either unnecessary or worthwhile, they had the Ninja Gaiden rebirthed on the original Xbox which was a gift for fans but remained the same as it was on the NES. Sigma is a reboot of the 2003 Ninja Gaiden that was well acclaimed for its day. Sigma includes all the great features of the 2003 title such as the interactive third-person 3-D environments, better graphics, smoother performance and the new Survival mode which is downloadable on the PlayStation Network. The game also has some gameplay tweaks as well as including Mission Mode on top of the Story Mode. Ninja Gaiden Sigma is an impressive remake of the more difficult titles made so far alongside it's sequal.
5: Punch Out
Platform: Nintendo Wii
Developer: Nintendo
Release Date: NA: May 18th 2009, EU: May 22nd 2009, JP July 23rd 2009, AUS August 27th 2009
![punchout-wii2.jpg](http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-eeMsDOQLaIw/TYA99NSqBcI/AAAAAAAAC0w/OzP7_gJ8BTo/s1600/punchout-wii2.jpg)
Punch Out on the NES was one of the most intense videogame challenges that fans have witnessed since their battle against Boxing Champion Mike Tyson and Mr Dream when the Mike Tyson license was lost since 1990. The 1994 sequel on the SNES made some gameplay tweaks but however that was the last knock out it had. The Wii-make of this beloved boxing game takes all the addictive gameplay, over-the-top boxing mayhem and borderline discriminating dark humour to a new technological level. Primarily, the introduction of the Wii remote gave the Punch Out!! Experience new life since Wii Sports brought boxing into the mix, getting the players involved in the action but still staying true to the rhythmic boxing patterns and timed knockouts. If the Wii Remote controls is not enough for the fans then the game has Classic Controls for the Wii Remote for fans to relive the NES timeline.
4: Tales of Phantasia
Platform: PSOne/Gameboy Advance/PSP
Developer: Namco
Release Date: PSOne: JP: December 23rd 1998, Absolute Zero Translations December 24th 2007: English Patch, GBA: JP: August 1st 2003, NA: March 6th 2006, EU: March 31st 2006, PSP: JP: September 6th 2006 (Full Voice Edition), JP: August 5th 2010 (Cross Edition)

Namcos Tales of Phantasia in Japan helped the franchises popularity thanks to its 48MBbit technology, amazingly likable characters such Cress Albane, Chester Barklight and Arche Kleine and also the enjoyable battle system that was both engaging and challenging. Tales of Phantasia has had a great reasonable set of remakes for both the PlayStation systems and the Gameboy Advance. The PlayStation versions receive the most praise for its extras including tweaks to the Battle System, improved storyline, extra dungeons and also optional characters like the young 11 year old ninja girl Suzu Fujibayashi on the first remake and also the Time traveller Rondoline in the second PSP remake. Thanks to Absolute Zero and Phantasian Productions that is still working on their English Translation gamers are properly able to play through one of the Top RPG remakes we've seen and perhaps maybe in the future Namco might encourage a proper Tales of Phantasia remake outside of Japan besides the GBA version. Tales of Phantasia still proves that these Tales games will never die.
3: Street Fighter II Enhanced Editions
Platform: Multiplatform
Developer: Capcom
![street-fighter-hd1716786365_2bfe7a1255_o](http://www.megatonnews.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/10/street-fighter-hd1716786365_2bfe7a1255_o.jpg)
Street Fighter II become one of the most credited games in the arcades which helped other companies including Capcomss rival SNK to produce other fighting games to further popularize the fighting genre. The game spawned numerous ports onto the home as well as following a series of updated versions, each refining the play mechanics, gameplay balancing, graphics, character roster and other aspects of the game. From making the 4 CPU only characters playable in Champion Edition, making the game faster in Turbo Hyper Fighting, adding 4 extra characters in Super Street Fighter II and introducing hidden boss Akuma still stands as incredibly difficult to beat in Super Turbo. It has had an Anniversary release in 2003 and finally making its way into HD detail on the 360 and PS3. There is simply no other videogame that goes out of control with series of remakes than Street Fighter II.
2: The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time 3D

One of the most critically acclaimed video games of all time deserved a remastered release on Nintendos new 3DS handheld. What could have made this amazing game better was to include the game itself with a version of Master Quest which the dungeons are mirrored and tougher enemies and bosses. Target courses which are easier to do thanks to the Gyro Controls, Dungeons that are challenging to handle with the help of Nintendo videos but you have your own wits to relay on when completing each dungeon before you face off against a nasty boss. The entire game itself has reasonably aged well and graphics shows signs of improvement along with the gameplay remaining nearly intact with the lock on targeting, automatic jumping, horse riding and a storyline that has plenty of twists help make Ocarina of time not only a true classic that lives on today but also one of the finest video game remakes on this countdown.
1: Super Mario Advance/DS
Platform: Gameboy Advance/Nintendo DS
Developer: Nintendo
![Super Mario Advance 4](http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/0/0a/Super_Mario_Advance_4_screenshot.png)
![Super Mario 64 DS](http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/d/d1/Super_Mario_64_DS-Graphics_comparison.jpg)
Nintendos red Italian plumber has had numerous adventures to rescue the very same princess from the same dragon time and time again but also he has had plenty of outstanding remakes on Gameboys to the Nintendo DS handheld systems. From working with the Advance titles like the English Mario Bros 2, Super Mario World, Yoshis Island and one of the best NES games of all time Super Mario Bros 3. The advance ports allowed players to play the original Mario Bros arcade enhanced with enhanced graphics, switch between Mario and Luigi in Super Mario World and include all the SNES extras including enhanced graphics and hidden areas where expert players can exploit or get from tips videos. When the Nintendo DS was launched Mario brought one of the favourable Nintendo 64 classics Super Mario 64 with impressive additions like more playable characters and a few Minigames that you can play with friends. New Super Mario Bros for the DS improved on my many aspects of old Mario games and gave out new powerups including Blue Koopa Shell, the Mini Mushroom for Mario to run on water like Jesus Christ and the Mega Mushroom where Mario grows massive size and players can ram through the Levels without requiring to jump. Mario has plenty of enjoyable remakes that are both impressive and still fun to play after all these instance years making this the spot for the Top 10 Video Game remakes.
