I know what you mean, I also feel the same way but it's only because I'd rather play games on a TV screen. I buy handhelds for the games and not the portability aspect LOL! Dead serious.
I personally found that by the end of the game I cared more about Emil and Marta than any other characters in a long time.

I completely understand how you feel having beat the game a couple of days ago myself. But you can't deny that the horrid cheesiness of the delivery (voice work/conversations) completely destroyed the plot's chances of being a classic of romance in RPGs. Though I gotta admit, some of the "c" button conversations were hilarious and well done. I'm very disappointed with the critics' views on the game, they set the expectation bar too high thanks to the first ToS and did not give it a chance.

Buy it on the PS3 and rest assured that the version you're playing is the definitive one. The 360 version is an inferior port with alot of compression issues. This has been proven via statements by the game's staff but 360 fanboys are in denial. Do what I'll do and pretend that the 360 version doesn't even exist.
I'm sorry to tell you this but it seems like the PS3 is on its way to the yellow light of death (YLOD). If the freezing becomes unbearable call Sony and ask about it but if it comes down to repairs I say you're better off buying a new PS3 instead because no matter how many times you perform maintenance on it it'll keep malfunctioning ergo you'll keep paying for repairs, which makes the purchase of a new PS3 the cheaper route. Up until the age of 18 or so I was extremely into gaming often replaying games I've beaten and unlocking everything it had to offer. As college got more hectic I began to game less only completing a game once and rarely playing it again on my free time. Now that I have a job I not only play through a game once exclusively and never go back to it but I also sell the games that I beat once almost immediately. If you talked to my 17 year-old self and told him about my gaming habits these days he'd laugh and never even consider the legitimacy of the claim LOL! But of course Sports games are a different issue. As for Bayonetta itself I find it to be a Devil May Cry inspired action game and I've grown tired of them, so no I'm not really interested.
The game's plot would've lost alot of depth and be categorized as generic if the Animus concept didn't exist. It should always play a main part in the story.
