kickstarter sounds good for established developers (like Obsidian) who can make a game for the fans without compromising on the aspects hardcore gamers want and big publishers stay away from... so it's basically a chance to give that developer you have faith in the chance of realizing his vision which you're sure you'll like. just think about some great games that were missing features and content just because the publisher rushed the game (KOTOR 2 comes to mind)

@juboner if steam will join forces with google, the steam games might also be on android not only on the PC... and when you think about those sales happening on steam, you know that an android+steam console will crush the big console companies, not to mention that the developers will probably sign less exclusive deals because they'll win money from steam on both PC and android games

@Keeper_Artemus I agree with the single-player thing, but I like digital distribution, which valve does better than apple (I'm talking about the discounts... it's supposed to cost less if it's not a physical copy)

an upgradable console with buy-back for replaced parts... doesn't sound half bad. add the steam offers and we might have a winner

even though I don't play any of those games, it always troubles me when a company is discontinuing support for it's products which have online modules built into them... this ranges from games to electronics... and it's the same companies that promote this type of thing.... so you basically get yearly updates with online core-components which will get discontinued after a few years and you won't even be able to use that product with all it's basic functions it had when you purchased it. this trend is really disturbing and it should be severely punished by the user community, no matter if your product is a game or an iPhone... you should still be able to use all of it's functions in 1000 years if you so desire

@infinity_ I would've said the same thing if I didn't know that the devs were actually restricted to alter the original in any major way (characters, story, locations)... they didn't even have access to the source art to work with (seems that Bioware lost it) and that's why we got the low-detail maps and models.

@Aragorn2nd @esqueejy Aragorn is right... I actually enjoy this better than the original because I don't have to install an endless number of mods and because the community of the official website is very united. looking forward to BG2:EE now
