@Leonagard: why did you called "old" to the skill tree system? didn't you noticed that all modern ARPGs still having the skill tree system? (Grim Dawn, Path of Exile, Wolcen, etc).
By the other way Diablo 3 has not a skill system, is a "spell system", even much older, the classic wizard from many RPGs that can learn any spell but can use only few at the same time. The difference, is that wizards on RPGs also has a skill tree, so they have both, spells + skills. In Diablo 3 you only have spells.
I don't get why D3 fans still wanting to name ARPG to a game that have removed all RPG mechanics, leaving only the Action part, like any other casual game in the world.
That is a remaster! Although, Starcraft 2 is pretty decent, I will glad be to have it, but it wasn't so urgent...
What we urgently need is a Diablo 2 remaster, however they wouldn't do that because they know that no one of the leftovers will actually play Diablo 3...
@ecs33: Tetris is equally difficult in the lasts screens, but I used to play Diablo 2 because is ARPG, why should I enjoy its "successor" if is not more ARPG?
@PrpleTrtleBuBum: I don't know what are you talking about, what I've said is that Diablo 3 is not more A-RPG, without RPG elements is just an Action game, and very casual.
It's a simple change of name without importance, just the last words "But hey, at least the Necromancer is coming back." sounds hilarious.
You can put the necromancer in Mario Bros but still playing Mario Bros. The problem in Diablo 3 is that it is a complete different game for the casual market, you can add all the iconic characters and still the same childish parody of a former iconic saga.
@BeefoTheBold: Again you are saying the truth but I think you are focusing in the minor portion of the entire issue. From a wider perspective, Brian Fargo could be a casual developer earning fortunes, what he have done requires a huge personal effort, and sometimes simply can't do all what he was planned.
@BeefoTheBold: yes, I agree with all of that (even voted you because it's true), and is very sad that devs still forced to perform some of the worst practices to make the best possible profit.
Having say that, we must agree that compared with other devs, that directly have prostituted their art (I'm talking about Diablo 3, Call of Duty, Dragon Age 2 and Inquisition...), making things in the poorest way, leaving the focused market to spread trough the huge casual market, and the worst is that they have done that to iconic names, sagas that was the foundation of entire genres, now casualized to the absurd... I think, in the final average, InXile have done pretty well.
The good devs, those that really make games from games, to gamers (instead to earn more money from the huge casual market), are always few ones, now will be fewer...
@Xylymphydyte: Dragon Age Origins is not turn based, is Baldur's Gate system: real time + tactic pause, click over each group member to give commands, continue, stop, click, continue, etc, that system is insane with pad, just google all complains about the console version, and the proof is that Dragon Age 2 and Inquisition was converted in action-pad games, leaving an iconic system that survived from Baldur's gate and re-born with Pillars of Eternity and Tyranny.
