@asnakeneverdies: Skirim is endless, with mods (I thought it was implied).

I've played only the last MG and I literally, can't, continue playing after QTE + Cinematic + credits + QTE + Cinematic + credits... I know that people say that is a different style, but allowed me to meet the infinite ego of that developer.

About previous MGs, there is one identical to Escape From New York. I don't know how Kojima's fanboys "twist" that fact in their minds, but the plagiarism still there.

And about the rest of MGs, if they are games instead movies may be ok, but wait! just OK, not SUPERB as Kojima's fanboys are crying all day... please, it looks like he invented the damned wheel!

@Arkhalipso: all was said, you can replay a game-movie as much as you want (like kids replay movies once and again), but that doesn't means it IS replayable.

And I've mentioned single player games, just to avoid the SP/MP discussion. I've noticed Pillars of Eternity 2 and I will replay PoE to calm the hype, because I CAN replay it with renewed expectations, different character, background, party, alignment, etc. Even, multiple times I've tried to duplicate the exact gameplay (making always the same choices, visiting the towns in the same order, choosing the same dialogue NPC lines, etc), and couldn't done the same game, impossible, I've tried that since Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights, Arcanum, Temple of Elemental Evil, Dragon Age, Skyrim, and always ended in different places, with different guilds, alignments, party, etc, that are re-playable games, not interactive movies.

@Arkhalipso: those are the games people want? really? so why those games are forgotten few weeks after release? Why people still playing Age of Empires, Guild Wars, Diablo, Baldur's Gate for decades?

I don't say what a videogame should be, everybody knows that vidoegames are board games or sports, translated to computers, people still playing Chess. A game (video, card, board, sport, etc) is something you want to return with renewed expectations.

Those so called Triple A games focused in strong plots, carrying you by hand, are the opposite of the concept of GAMES, closer than movies but, in the poorest quality and full of cliches (cause 10 years old kids don't understand cliches and think they are playing something deep).

People have no additional motivations to return to a "movie-game" when already knows the plot, while in games like Skyrim the plot is an excuse to continue playing, you play to improve your character, or your ability with mouse if is a shooter, or your actions per seconds if is an e-Sport. Those are GAMES.

Leave pretentious plots to books (which are deeper), or movies (which are credible). A game that pretends to be a movie is a failure in all aspects: never will have a deep plot (because of playability), never will be credibly (because of computer limitations), and never will be a challenging game (because are limited by strong plots needing to hand-drive the player).

@guidardo: I think that is false, but let's pretend it is true to understand each other. Now, do you know the name of the creators of Doom, Quake, Dune, Diablo, Baldur's Gate, Half Life, Ultima? (among many, many, real iconic games). Maybe you know some of them, but they are far from the excessive fame and fanboyism that Kojima has.

In other words, why do you think Kojima deserves that saturation of fanboyism, while other devs that have done simmilar or even better creations, don't need/want at all?

"Urquhart added that Deadfire is inspired by classic PC games like Baldur's Gate"

"truly living cities [and] more freedom to explore the open world"

I'm in again.

I don't get the glorification of that developer. If I recall well, his biggest work was the Metal Gear saga, which don't improve anything, I mean, is not an after/before as other games like Baldur's Gate to RPGs, Dune to the Strategy, Ultima to MMOs, Diablo to ARPGs, even Neverwinter Nights is unique in the persistent worlds mechanism that allows a Dungeon Master guiding a party, but there are not such things as "Metal Gear" clones out there as we have in real iconic games. Also many of the firsts characters was plagiarized, and the best game of the saga is a plagiarism of Escape from New York, even the look of the protagonist is identical.

Death Stranding... what have they shown? yes is an incredibly pretentious trailer, but for what? a shooter? a roguelike? an RPG? an Action RPG? a MMO? fanboys are hyped for what? they don't even know if they will like the genre. Well (considering the immense ego of this developer), surely will be a story-driven AAA game, that means, a linear corridor, full of QTE and cinematics, with the best graphics to impress children, in other words: a new few hours duration interactive movie.

Triple A games need less few hours movies and more GAMES that should last for life.

@ilovenat28: read this news

http://www.gamespot.com/articles/pc-gaming-hardware-revenue-hits-30-billion-in-2016/1100-6447141/

specifically this:

"Asia Pacific market is the global leader due to "an entrenched PC gaming culture and a lack of significant console traction."

Asia will rule the global game industry if us, western culture, keep sleeping on consoles for kids...
