@Geogyf: You seems to have arguments, is just that I don't see that difference between Konamy and Kojima so important to scandal the entire World... these kind of things happens often in videogames, even in iconic franchises that I've mentioned: When the 3 devs of Diablo 2 leaved Blizzard, the entire Blizzard-North section was dismissed, THAT was a scandal in the middle of the developing of Diablo 3 (and now we see the consequences, right?), another, when Bioware was absorbed by EA, damn was an earthquake for the fans of an entire bloodline of the most iconic RPG saga: the Infinity Engine games, the Neverwinter Nights games based on Aurora, and the development of Dragon Age... then we see Dragon Age Origins addapted for pad, was a superb game, not as good as in the development but with native mod support, enough for me, then... Dragon Age 2, the end of the entire bloodline... those are tragedies.

So why game portals barely notice about genuine catastrophes in game industry, while each time Kojima uses the toilet is in the cover? There are only 3 possibilities: 1st is that he is a genius, which we concluded that meh..., 2nd, he is paying, marketing, this is very probable, and the 3nd is that his fans are worshiping him at levels never seen before... or... a mix of the 2 lasts, I don't think I'm far from the truth.

@Geogyf: look, just name a mechanic that MG hasn't from another genre, many people say that all stealth mechanics was copied from pre existing games like Rogue, but since I didn't played its games we can argue forever.

You can recognize a Metal Gear game as you can recognize an Elder Scrolls or Infinity Engine games (Baldur's Gate, Planescape Torment, Icewind Dale, Pillars of Eternity, Tyranny...). The difference is that Infinity Engine is a great game with a new genre while MG could be just a great game, no new gender here, no MG clones as we have Diablo 2 clones everywhere, I have been playing Diablo 2 for 17 years and till today I don't know the name of its 3 devs, but each day I open a videogame portal found an extremelly stupid "news" about Kojima's EMPTY new studio, his incredibly pretentious trailer of a game that nobody knows, his opinions about a movie director, damn... what's wrong with this world?

@Geogyf: maybe because English is not my first language, I didn't explained it well.

What I mean is that MG didn't added new mechanics, for example: Baldur's Gate has invented the action game with tactical pause among many new RPG mechanics as the possibility to easily custom your portraits by dropping the image in the Override folder as many other aspects of the game (modding), the dialogue system, etc. I mean, is not a turn based RPG but also is not action RPG because you are not directly commanding the character's combat, so what is it? well, it is an "automatic turn based RPG" because turns still running in background (you can read the log at any moment), and you can interrupt turns to give new orders, is an entire new genre.

The same with Doom for shotters, Dune for strategy, Diablo 2 for ARPGs, Ultima, DotA... they have settled a before/after in the genre, or directly invented the genre. What is the relevance of Metal Gear in history? just a plot? there are a lot of good plots, but what was invented to make this guy a celebrity? what is the real innovation of this guy that deserves more attention than other devs? I think I have the answer: marketing.

I recommend to see those enterprises that develops technology like Logitech, Cougar, Steelseries, etc. because other enterprises as Rat or Razer, just buy the sensible parts to put them in a case that is the only part they have made, the problem is that they are paying royalties for the sensors and buttons, and that means a more expensive device, that will do the same. The same with keyboards and other peripherals.

@master_49: I used to ignore consoles all my life, they were something there that I barely knew from distance, maybe when I've noticed some game that attracts me I've researched a bite but never get me enough compared whit PC. Till 2009-10, when multiplatform became a standard and all games started to seem the same 1st/3rd person action pad games... Fallout 3, Dragon Age 2, Divinity II, strategy games almost disappeared, ARPGs totally casualized to pad: Diablo 3, Sacred 2 (barely) and 3 (totally), Dungeon Siege 3. Crysis converted in a corridor... that was the standard till Kickstarter, the return of games from gamers to gamers, while consoles almost made entire genres to disappear.

I've noticed that all my favorite sagas were casualized because of multiplatform on a limited device, tell me you where do you see consoles could be good for gaming.

@master_49: the statistics are there, PC alone is selling more than all consoles together, deal with it, think that in Asia except Japan all is PC, and their population is bigger, I think is believable.

I will respond the second with examples: the most successful youtubers are those... screamers, video-reaction, for kids. Now, the most interesting youtubers are those serious, or with some content, they are not as successful, but are doing something that will survive the time, and maybe in long therm more profitable. Games are the same, the most successful are those action-pad games focused on casual market a la CoD, but the best games are those deep ones that make history as Baldur's Gate, Quake, Half Life, Dragon Age Origins, Diablo, Starcraft, WoW...

If PC-gaming (for some miracle) disappear, all games will be even more casual, till the absurd. If consoles disappear (for obvious reasons), all enterprises will continue developing for PC, and will growth exponentially, more casual in some ways, but infinitely more deep in others, because multiplatform would be no more.
