@OneStrong2 You're being logical. Politicians are not logical, they're greedy-reactionary. Politicians would lay blame on zombie apocalypse survival guides if they could, just to divert attention away from where they get their play-money from.

@raydawg2000 @theKSMM @landfill_dump Now then, in case my original reply is too long & involved for you...
I bought a kitten! She's new! She's never had a human before! We love each other! I'll get one of those tracking chips put in her to keep her safe in case she gets lost & so I can get her back. SNUGGLE!!!
Six months later...
I have to move. My home was damaged in a fire. My kitten is safe & sound as am I...but the only place I can move to won't allow pets. That's okay, I know of a place that'll find her a good home...it's also a no-kill shelter. Wait...what do you mean that the microchip in her makes it so she can never have another owner? I can't keep her! I can't just abandon her, it's against the law to let a pet go feral like that! Wait...what do you mean my only options are to keep her or kill her, as it's totally impossible to get her another home?! I....I can't....I can't keep...her...
@raydawg2000 @theKSMM @landfill_dump Wow, someone pissed your Wheaties.
I buy a game. It's new! It's in perfect condition! The money I spent went to the developer, just like if I had purchased a new car/couch/book/cat/movie/painting/spork!
But you know, I just don't need it anymore. Should I keep it? Wait, what do you mean my car has $0/0% value/worth? It's set so that as soon as I set my sweaty hairy ass on the drivers seat it scanned my biorhythms and the car will only operate for me? But, I purchased it, I should be able to do what I want with it! Why should I ever buy another car then if it has no value except for my personal use until I'm done with it/it breaks beyond my ability to repair/I want to sell/trade it to fund the purchase of something new/etc? I'll just get a bicycle instead - not as awesome as a single-owner-only car, but it's more valuable to me in the long-run - I can sell it if I ever need a new one.
I buy a game. It's used! It's not in perfect condition! That's okay, I have a disc doctor I've used multiple times before, and the scratches are gone! Maybe the money that I spent didn't go to the developer this time, but that's not my concern: I wouldn't have bought the game new anyways, so irregardless they wouldn't have gotten money from this sale. It's good that someone did, like the original purchaser, as they have every right to sell the game they originally purchased if they want to. And with the money I saved, I can still get that new new original game that I want to support, as it's an entirely new I.P..
And I also completely agree that if I buy one version of, say, Ys III, then I am entitled to every version of the game from 1990 to whenever Falcom stops remaking the game /sarcasm.
@ThornDavis @CaesarIIII People will also be buying less overall, as games will have 0% value once purchased (as in resale), and the casual/value-driven market (mom & pop, students, etc.) will mostly steer-clear, and be overall less willing to try-out new I.P.'s.
Blocking game sharing - which this is what this is - will significantly harm the industry. Sure, one can say timed demo downloads all one wants, but these are often dummied down & one must be wary of not exceeding their internet usage caps.
