I could care less. I really cared at the beginning, but honestly I've only played a couple games BC and it was for the mere novelty of playing a ps2 game on my ps3. Much the same as when I spent about 2 days playing ps1 games on my ps2. I HAVE a ps2. I HAVE it hooked up to my TV. If I can't play ps1 games on my ps3 for some reason, whatever, because ps1 games play just fine on my ps2. I don't know what all the whining is about. Sometimes people complain about stuff even if it has nothing to do with what they would really do. Uncharted -or- Porche Challenge (ps1).. hmm... hard choice. please...

[QUOTE="jakndaxter7223"]O wow I trust a lvl 1 with 5 posts! Oh man your credibility is established already! especially with that whole "collecting dust" and then saying "take good care of it" abdelmessih101

  1. his low level has no bearing on his credibility - creating a profile in order to seek help with a legitimate problem shouldn't take away from someone's credibility and doesn't mean he is a troll
  2. he used "collecting dust" as a figure of speech meaning "it's not getting much use" which nobody seems to understand
  3. he did bash the PS3 in any way
  4. the YLOD is a legitimate problem
  5. the TC is not a troll

I have to agree. This problem IS KNOWN. It's an IO failure. It doesn't necessarily mean that the hard drive is bad. It could also mean that the hard drive connection became loose during movement. Bringing your ps3 to a friends house, whether in your car or on a bike can jolt the system. The only two parts of the system that aren't solid state are the hard drive and the blu-ray drive. The blu-ray drive is integrated, but the hard drive is swapable. All it takes is coming loose and shorting to cause this yellow light. My advise is to open it up, pull the hard drive out. Clear out the bay with compressed air. Put the whole thing back in. The yellow light should go away. If it doesn't, it means that the hard drive head scratched the plate during transit. Then in that worst case scenario, go out and buy another hard drive. It sucks, but it's not as bad as a bricked machine by any means.

To those of you that insulted his credibility, please try to find technical information about it before you post rude comments. If you can't find anything, then you can't disprove his statement. Therefore, this entire thing becomes opinion. He says one thing, then you say another thing. The problem is, neither one can be proved. The sickening thing is that the fanboyism is so severe that people are willing to insult someone about what happened than being intelligent and trying to find answers. That's depressing, and an embarassing view of humanity. I absolutely LOVE my ps3. But I'm not going to insult him because I'm unwilling to accept that something might not have a 0% failure rate. That's just idiotic, childish, and indicative of a very low IQ.

1080i will look "as good" as 1080p because when the blu-ray movie is playing it's decoded to 1080p and then interlaced. When you play a game, you should use 720p because most games that support 1080i/1080p render to a 540p framebuffer and scale up to 1080i/1080p. So you're actually getting better clarity with 720p.

Ok, I finally played it. I can see it being a fun game, but I wasn't impressed with the demo by any stretch. The graphics of the cave looked rather last gen, and the dinosaur fighting was very frustrating since I couldn't turn around fast enough to see one before it jumped on me. I'm pretty sure this stuff will be better so I'm not going to write it off. What probably was the worst thing for me to see was the dialogue. "I'll have that...", "uh... look out...". I know they are supposed to be soldiers, but they sound clinically depressed.lol. I'll probably still rent this game and give it a chance.

I believe it if it has the same quality as the first one. Dear guerilla games, please prove me very wrong. I do want it to be awesome, but so far they are 0:1.

This sorta happens all the time. A company overpromises and underdelivers. It's usually because the staff that they hired to do the job were inadequate. This is usually when a company is trying to pinch pennies and hire programmers and designers right out of school. And in a lot of cases, from those lame schools that pretend to tell you how to make games. Once they go through that big letdown, they let everyone go "trim the fat", and pay the money required to get some real talent. What that means to me and you is that we get a game much later than promised. Epecially if they had to scrap a bunch of poor work.

no, it's not normal to have bad visual artifacts. Are you using Component, Composite, or HDMI cable? Might be a bad connection. (if component, or composite).

Bioshock was one of the best games in 2007 IMO. It ranked up their with Mass Effect, Uncharted, COD4 and AC for me. The story is very engrossing and the game play is fun and accessable. I too was disapointed about the no penalty for dying but was able to get past it.T_0_D

I agree with everything that you said, excluding the part about Mass Effect and Bioshock.

Most games that support anything higher than 720p render to a 540p framebuffer when you use 1080i or 1080p. The only TRUE 1080p you'll ever get is from blu-ray movies, and anything but the most simple graphics games like tennis, basketball, only then is a 1920x1080 framebuffer used. Basically, when you are playing a game that supports 1080i, play at 720p. You're actually seeing more.
