Ok so the ps3 is currently about 9.5 mil units sold.

The 360 is at about 16 million units sold.

Difference of about 6.5 mil.

In 2008 worldwide the ps3 will push about 10 mil units or so pushing its total sales to 19.5 mil or so.

The 360 will push around 2-3 mil at best with its lackluster lineup and hardware problems putting it at 19 mil at best.

Hence it would be a pretty good assumption to assume the ps3 will be ahead at the end of 2008/

ZIMdoom

The PS3 would have to sell an astronomical amount of units. You are not even attempting to do the math. If you did, you would know that the PS3 would have to sell about a million of units worldwide every month MORE than the 360. It is almost impossible for the PS3 to surpass the 360 in 08. You are making a grave amount of assumptions. We don't know the official number of worldwide sales for either the PS3 or 360 except shipped, but even going with the numbers you have, it's still not possible. Why would the rate of sales of the 360 drop off so significantly? It doesn't make any sense. Using your logic, I can also assume the PS3's lineup will be delayed and the PS3 selling rate will be 1/4 of what it was in 07. But I won't because that is absurd, just like your claims. But yeah, go ahead, neglect logic and reality, and keep yourself blind and ignorant.

You are the one ignoring the math which has been done more than once in this thread already. And no, there are very realistic situations where the PS3 only needs to sell 1 million a month (which is only 300,000 more world wide than they currently sell) to catch up this year. It would NOT have to sell 1,700,000 a month to beat the 360. Especially considering if YOU did the math, the 360 only averages about 550,000 consoles a month world wide in 2007. The PS3 averaged 690,000 a month in 2007.

PAL launch year for the PS3, without that the "average" would be much lower.

I don't know how you're making these averages either, considering the European market has no offical numbers, as repeated every 3 seconds on this forum.

"How?" you ask. Because there's no doubt PS3 will have a longer life than 360. MS will try and get the next gen console out early, again, and that will force 360 sales to plummet. Meanwhile, Sony will still be giving PS3 strong support like the PS2. And the PS3 will go on to sell more than the 360. Just as 360 ahad a year lead to take advantage of at the beginning of this gen, PS3 will have a year or two at the end.The_Crucible

More Crystal Ball MADNESS.

For all you know Sony could realise they're flogging a dead horse and rush out a PS4.

PS3 reminds me of the Saturn, only without the great games.

PS3 beating 360 in sales for 2008 can be understood in many different ways.The_Crucible

I see Cows are taking their Crystal Balls a little too seriously and have gone all MYSTIC on us

Please, console sales are not like TEA LEAVES, there is no Madame de Bovine sitting in a tent at a fair interpreting console sales, the PS3 will either outsell the 360 in 2008 or it wont.

The majority of Cows all agree that it will, even though the numbers are working against them. Alot of them have already started to "jump ship" and carry on about TEH 2009

People still holding out on this gen for some reason are the only ones missing out, there are alot of good games out there at the moment, mostly on the 360 and Wii.

Great post but I think you overestimated 360s numbers for Europe.

LosDaddie

You do realize he was making fun of you with that post, right?

QFT!

I still haven't found one cow brave enough to post EU sales without using the highly unreliable VGC.

It's because they can't, because Official numbers for European console sales do not exist, unless they're from Nintendo, Microsoft or Sony themselves, and even those are dubious at best.

The Cows just rely on Wishes and Moon Beams for their "European Numbers"
