no, but I do remember when me and others didn't give a crap either way.
Good times, goooood times...

What times were those?
I remember people caring about graphics even in the 1980s.
Well but you get to play the game that's exactly like the dev made it to be. In PC games like Crysis, there is a massive difference between low and very high settings.

A 5 year old system (8800gtx) could play crysis on high at 1680x1050 and very high at a lower resolution.
So that 5 year old system can play most games at high or max and it absolutely trashes consoles many many times over.
And I'd rather not play most of the games that the devs "made it to be".
Oblivion is actually a great game with mods but crap without them.
Fans have shown that they can make games better than what most devs intended.
Wouldn't it be cool to be playing a game online and then suddenly hear his voice from one of the players on your team?
From my understanding the original 7800GTX launched at $600 in 2006 with specs consisting of 302 million transistors, 430-450MHz core, 256MB DDR3, 24 pixel pipes, and 8 vertex pipes. The 7800GTX 512 which came out later at a similar price of $600-$650 was beefier with a 550MHz Core, 512MB DDR3, 24 pixel pipes, and 8 vertex pipes. The PS3's RSX is somewhere in between these in power. Less ROPs and 128-bit memory interface.
The Xenos on the other hand had 332 million transistors, 500MHz core, access to 256MB+ DDR3, 48 unified shader units, and the 10MB EDRAM unit. The 360 Core/Arcade was $300 at launch, and it was sporting a GPU a gen ahead of the 7-series. It could hold it's own against $600 cards, which is why Gears was considered by many to be the best looking game on any platform, and it didn't begin to tap into the 360's power(i.e. only using a single Xenon core).

I am not going to argue about Gears of War PC.
I think it easily looks better than any console game this gen ever will and you do not end of story.
Now on to hardware.
The transistor count is not the biggest importance.
The Xenos had huge limits on memory bandwidth.
The 7800GTX is more powerful and the RSX is inbetween a 7600gt and 7800gt in power.
I already showed you proof of an even weaker card than the 7800GTX (8600gt) running games at console settings or even higher.
The consoles reached it's peaked shortly after release but devs just find new ways to cut things out that aren't always needed.
It doesn't mean they are tapping into more power as the 7800GTX can also play the same games as good or better.
The Xenos had not even half the memory bandwidth if I recall correctly and had a lot slower interface.
These things limit the amount of performance by a fair amount making the 7800gtx perform better especially with the 512mbs of vRAM.
The shader clock speed was also a very low 500mhz which limits part of the benefits of unified shaders.
The Xenos had some nice tech but was gimped too much for it to really shine.
The Xenos would have been a lot better with twice the memory bandwidth and a 256bit interface.
They should of had the shader clock to a higher speed by atleast 2.5x.
And they should of had 512vRAM.
My PC is 5 years and counting!

8800GTX?
what if I'm lazy I don't want to force AA or fix stuff that doesn't mean I should get a console. All I was saying is that upgradding isn't a big deal and that issues that I had more problems were actually minor. Some how you make it sound like I should quit playing on the pc and just play on a console.metal_zombie
If wasting 15 seconds opening up Nvidia inspector to force AA is too much for you then even console gaming may be too much as well.
I mean getting out that disc and putting it in a console takes times and what if I am too lazy to do that?
Battlefield is more Overrated than UC2. COD is gameplay King and proof with billions of sales

this is probably why nintnedo iscoming out with wii 2 and they arentcoming with ps4 720
until 2014-2015
its in the cards
remember xbox did not reach itsfull harnessed power , it was only 4 yrs before ms cut the cord
nintendo i think played it safe this gen and for the good , but ms i m not to sure if that can match wii2/ps3s power
dispite some who say 360 games look better, thats mostly due to developers making their efforts on 360 hardware and giving us ps3 owners the shaft!
i believe nintendo and sony are the smarter ones in this race
microsoft has not done nothing for me since 08 ,
with that said , i sure hope wii 2 hurries up so i can enjoy my mariokart in hd !

The PS3 and Xbox 360 are pretty much on par with each other with hardare.
And consoles reached their graphical peak almost around release.
What developers have been doing since then is more by art direction.
They cut out things they think won't make a big difference.
So they do things like keep draw distance low but blur the background to cause people not to notice low res textures.
Once you get close enough to the object they take away the blur and then you can see better textures.
It's getting tiring hearing console developers repeatedly say how they are not utilizing the full power of a system.
They watch too much Dragon Ball Z.
Hopefully this means Project Cafes gets a boost grahically in multiplats and the PC version shares this boost.
I think you will only have to wait a year after Nintendo's release for Sony and Microsoft to release their consoles.
