1)Are there any REAL reasons that Macs are "better" than PC's, or is it all just unintelligable babbling on the part of Apple?

2)Is it true that Macs crash less than Windows? 3)Do Macs crash at all?
4)I heard it is extremely hard to plug in a USB camera to your PC, so Macs have an integrated one.
5)How does Mac customization work? 6)Must you buy a new computer, or swap out a video card?
7)Obviously, Mac's lack of games is a drawback, so they have a Windows emulator. 8 )Isn't this redundant to the whole "Superior OS" theory?

Any Mac fans here, please discuss.

I added the numbers to amke this easier.

1)Yes, there are. There are also reasons PCs are better than Macs. It all depends on what you need or want to do with your computer. Macs make great family computers.

2)Depends on who you talk to. On average, I'd say maybe it is true that Win systems crash more often. But that is due to user idiocy, not OS instability.

3) Yes, they do.

4) Okay. Whoever told you that is f-ing stupid. It is no more difficult to plug in a USB device to a PC than it is for a Mac.

5)Customization? Like OS customization? Not very well. Macs are pretty locked in. Very idiot proof. though you can customize your enviroment fairly well. If you mean hardware customization, there is very little you can do. You can choose amongst hardware components available from Apple, but that's it.

6)You can buy a new video card. But if you buy anything from anywhere other than Apple then you risk the product not working and you will void your warranty.

7) No. It is not a Windows emulator. It is a BIOS boot emulator.

8 ) No it isn't redudndant. You obviously do not know what redundant means. Contradictory, maybe, but not redundant. Really, neither OS is "superior." Both have their own individual strengths.

Since alienware was became a subsidiary of Dell, many have complained about poor service. Order if you want, but you'll probably regret it.

Well, I'm certain your rig will be able to run FEAR and GW at max.

Arch_Demonz
]Oh, crap. Nevermind. For some reason I thought I read that he had a 7800GT. Which would be handle everything at max. I run FEAR with all but shadows maxed out @1280x960 and I only have a rinky dinky X800Pro AGP. Still, you should be able to get med/high settings with your 7600GS.

Just FYI, I have an X800 8X AGP on my rig and I can run Oblivion with everything max except shadows. (the x800 really isn't very good for rendering things like soft shadows)

You should upgrade your video card. I'm assuming the 9950 is AGP, right? You could get an ATI X1950 or an NVidia 7800 card for about $200 from newegg.com. Either of those cards would be able to run Oblivion seemlessly on max settings.

Well, I'm certain your rig will be able to run FEAR and GW at max. I would say GW for value, as there is enough content to keep you playing it for quite some time. The nice thing is that GW is pretty easy to put down and then come back to. I probably only play GW 5-20 hours (maybe, if I have a bunch of free time) a month, and usually it's more around the 10 hour mark.

FEAR is a lot of fun and even after you beat it, if you're like me, you'll enjoy replaying it again and again. (I have a few saves right before some major firefights for quick fun) The gunfights in FEAR are amazingly awesome and it's a game I replay rather frequently.

Can't comment on CoD2, as I haven't played it. Not a fan of WWII shooters. :/

You might be able to run it, but it won't be pretty. You could get Nevewinter Nights 1, as that would run much better. Yes, the game can bog down a system pretty well, but there is a lot going on, especially with full dynamic shadows.

And no, there is no demo for NWN2.

[QUOTE="BewilderedRonin"]

Well, you're not going to get a very fair response in the PC section, but what is so good about Halo is that it is very well made. That might seem like a cop-out, and in a way it is. I dislike Halo as I feel it is a poorly done, horrendously generic FPS. BUT! There were numerous things that Bungie did incredibly well whilst making Halo. Most notably tweaking and perfecting movement timings, reload times, jump height, movement speed, and all of that. Why is this important? Because playing on a console is vastly different from playing on a PC. Console players were amazed at how "smooth" the gameplay was. On a PC "smoothness" was nearly a non-issue as mouse aiming makes any FPS buttery "smooth."

People will say crap like "Halo had great multiplayer!", which is a load of BS. There is nothing in MP that Halo has that other games had not had. People will say that it had great AI, which is a load of BS. The AI is dumb as rocks. Halo is only lauded in the gaming world because it was a console FPS that was comfortably playable. In other words, Halo is heralded because it was a console FPS that finally had good controllability. Noting else. The rest of the PC "omg Halo rulez Master Chief is duh awesumnass...zor...zorz" is 100% pure hype machine fallout.

TheCrazed420

But Halo does have great multiplayer. It's not a load of BS. Yeah, it doesn't do anything new in the MP department. So what? It's fun, always populated, has a ton of modes and maps, vehicular combat, turrets, portals, etc.

And your final comment is exactly what I was talking about in an earlier post in this thread. I'm defending Halo here, and am I coming across as "omg Halo rulez Master Chief is duh awesumnass...zor...zorz"? No. So stop insulting my intelligence.

SOrry if you felt the "master chief rulezorz" comment was directed at you. That was my fault, as I should have made it clear that I wasn't directing that comment at anyone here in this thread in particular. It was more of a generality of Halo fanboys.

Halo is a good game, and it is wel made. Multiplayer is still heavily populated today because of how well the game plays. You, yourself, even admitted that Halo's MP added very little to nothing new. That's more of what I was calling BS on. The notion that Halo's MP was somehow revolutionary in any other way than it was well implemented.

I don't hate Halo, but I'm not a fan of it either. Too arcadey (is that a word? lol).I'm glad that you are defending Halo, and to be fair, I'm not totally bashing Halo either. I'm approaching it at a realistic level pointing out the good and the bad and trying to cut out the sentimental fanboyism that often, eventually, rears its head. As CYSYKO  said, compare Halo to the droves of lackluster FPSes on the PC and it is a godly well done game.

Overall, the thing that really made Halo so good is that Bungie worked very hard and very meticulously on perfecting the control scheme and how the game responded. That's why playing Halo, even on a controller, is so easy, comfortable, and fun to do.

I'm sorry that my comments seemed to be directed at you. I assure you, they were not meant to be.

P.s. (you guys failed to mention the great lightgun NES game Gotcha!, which was totally awesome)

Lol. Yep. So, whilst Mercs 1 may never come to PC, Mercs 2 will. PC fans rejoice. :)
