Yeah, Stalker took a long time to be released, and it kind of shows. It looks like a really snazzed up Return to Castle Wolfenstein. Seriously. The models in the games are blocky and overall just not well done. The textures are pretty good, but not fantastic.

If you're a graphics snob, you'll be dissapointed. If you care more about gameplay than eye candy, you should love the heck out of this game.

lol there are always people doing missions! guildwars will only die when 2 is released...Jackopeng

And even then I'm sure many will keep playing Guild Wars. (ANet has said they will continue to support GW as long as people are still playing it) Not everyone is pleased with what GW2 is offering. Especially the PvP crowd.

Regarding player population; yes, a lot of people do use heroes. But you can't use your heroes for every mission. Many missions are just too difficult and to properly manage your whole party would involve crazy micro skills. Not to mention the henchmen aren't very bright, nor do they do a good job of using their skills.

Many people say that there are no players, or very few players in Factions. These people are wrong. I've been able to get a group of real players much easier in Factions and Prophecies than in Nightfall. Actually, I've seen many of the outposts with more active players looking for groups in Factions and Prophecies than in Nightfall. :/

If you are going to get only one, then I, too, would recommend Nightfall. The addition of heroes helps out a lot, you level fairly quickly, and the skills available to that campaign are very powerful. Prophecies is better, IMO, with the storyline, but it will take longer to level. Keep in mind that Nightfall is a much more difficult game than Prophecies, and with more content and features, the learning curve will be higher.

Yeah, I know there are districts. That doesn't mean that there aren't "massive" numbers of players available. I consider 100 to be pretty massive. Furthermore, the term massive is completely subjective. There is no way to quantify "massive".

Anyways... So, a game can only be an MMO if there are a large quantity of players available at all times of game play?  What is the player count for something to be considered "massive"? According to wikipedia an MMO must have a persistent world. So, if you have 2,000 players all playing at once, but not in a persistent world, then it's not an MMO.

Personally, I hate the whole "this is an MMO, this isn't an MMO" BS. To me. there are "massive" number of users logged on. I play with users in multuiplayer. It passes the test. If people really want to nitpick and say "this is and this isn't" an MMO based on some loose guidelines that never existed and validated through group think, then fine. But, chew on this: Neverwinter Nights, which was released in 1991, was one of the first MMORPGs (actually, the first graphical MMORPG) and it only had a server capacity of 50 players.

hello, im fairly new to these forums, I just want to know what are the best videocards on the market...?

is the GeForce 8800 Ultra the best card on the market? whats the price? and which is better? ati or nvidia ..?

please i need your help..

thx

massmedia

Regarding which is better, that is pretty much all opinion. The leading cards from ATI and NVidia are pretty neck-and-neck. To see some really good reviews, check out Tom's Hardware. (http://www.tomshardware.com/) To get prices, go to Newegg. (http://www.newegg.com/)

The best cards currently on the market from both companies are ATI's X1950XT and NVidia's 8800GTX. Although ATI is coming out with their nw HD 2900XT card this month. It should retail around $450-$600.

P.S. didn't realize the 8800Ultra was out yet. The 8800Ultra is NVidia's best video card, not the 8800GTX. Though the GTX is damn good.

[QUOTE="luin_gunners"][QUOTE="s1nc1ty"]why you calling guildwars not an mmo? Other people?PyscoJuggalo

Because its not 'massive'. The maps are limited to 12 max (elite missions). PvP can have up to 24 (Hall of Heroes, 3 teams of 8 and Alliance Battles 12v12). Other than that, people can gather in towns and outposts...but no action there, just trade, chat and whatever..more like a lobby of sorts.

Then DDO is not a MMORPG either? (not attacking your position just trying to understand it)

Apparently. *rolls eyes* The thing I don't get is: So GW isn't an MMO because there are not persistently "massive" numbers of players at all times? There are "massive" amounts of players in towns and outposts in GW. Does the "massive" quantifier for MMOs count only for active combat? Personally, I think the "GW isn't an MMO" is BS smack talk from people that want to trash the game. not pointing fingers or sayin that is/was luin_gunners' purpose or intent.

Anyways... I'm currently waiting for 2Moons' (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2Moons) Open Beta servers to go online. (should be within a few weeks)  Other than that, I still play Guild Wars every now and then. Tried LoTR MMO, didn't grab me. WoW made me bored. Then nauseated. I wanted to like DDO so bad, but when I did the trial, the community sucked so bad and the game just didn't seem like it would hold up well over time.

I dunno. I like an MMO where you can just play through it and not have to level grind to be able to beat the next quest. I guess that's why I hated WoW so much. Seems like all anyone ever does is grind, grind, grind.

I'm with Jack. Go to Newegg and buy a drive. It's a lot cheaper. Also, I would recommend getting either a Western Digital or Seagate drive. Those 2 are the only brand i will trust. DO NOT get a Maxtor drive. I had 2 of them a whilst ago, both died within 1 year. My 20GB Western Digital is 5 or so years old now and it still works fine, no bad sectors or anything.

edit- DO NOT GET THAT MAXTOR DRIVE! You will regret it once bad sectors start appearing and your drive crashes.  Get the Western Digital drive from Newegg instead.

Companies also hurting sales with that starforce junk. I wanted City Life awhile back and never got it because of that Starforce crap. Alot of poeple don't buy Starforce games.Sleepyz

Very true. Ubisoft dropped StarForce. Though Ubisoft never oficially acknowledged that it was because of StarForce's overbearing protection schemes. Also, I am one of those gamers that refuses to buy a game that uses StarForce. Kind of sucks because I wanted to buy Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory (which uses StarForce), but I stuck by my principles.

I don't mind SecuROM and SafeDisc, as I've never had a problem with either. Though, I mostly just use Daemon Tools and a mini disc image to play my games. That way I don't have to worry about swapping discs and having them get scratched up in the process, and I don't have to worry about some cracked EXE making it impossible for me to update or causing any other such problems. I don't mind security schemes, but when a security scheme can cause damage to drives and system instability, that is taking things WAY too far.

It would be great! I'm not sure if Raven software is still around. SoF2 was far advanced for it's day!Thumper

What? Not sure if Raven is still around!?!? The last few games they made are: Quake IV, Marvel Alliance, X-Men Legens 1&2, and they are currently working on a new Castle Wolfenstein game.
