The game is dated, but still a lot of fun. If you really enjoy NWN1, give NWN2 a try. Same deal, but given a huge face lift, and the rules ahve been updated to D&D 3.5.

BTW, I'd recommend starting with Shadows of Undrentide, then do Hordes of the Underdark (SoU's sequel) and then play the original NWN campaign. The 2 expansions are way better than OC (original campaign)

If you get stuck, need advice, or just want to hear what other NWN fans have to say, head on over to the BioWare boards and ask around. http://nwn.bioware.com/forums/  If you want more modules (fan-made quests and campaigns. And some are just as large, and larger than the BioWare campaigns), go on over to the Neverwinter Vault. http://nwvault.ign.com/

Yeah, Hexen is classic. Hexen II on the other hand... well, not so much. Anybody remember Heretic I & II? GREAT games! What about Blake Stone: Alien of Gold? (Doom era game) Remember Dark Forces? :) Oh, BTW, it's Rise of the TRIAD (not triads). First game to feature true 3d enviroment where characters could walk below others. Pretty revolutionary at the time.

Worst FPS... Well, I'm not a huge FPS nut, but Turok was pretty bad. (the first one. haven't played the others) Turok is tied, IMO with the South Park FPS they did a whilst back. I try to avoid crappy games... so... yeah. :)

It's kind of old, but Soldier of Fortune is easy and short. To this day I still boot it up just to run around , shoot out some entrails and disintegrate some Neo Nazi faces. Return to Castle Wolfenstein was way easy. I actually thought FEAR was a "middle of the road" kind of difficulty.

[QUOTE="iden2009"]well its terible nothing ever wants to load up rite sites, barealy any games, software compatibilaty, freez ups,and how un user freindly they are when it comes to istalling new hardware.Bmarx16

My friend, not to be rude, but i have no idea what operating system you are using. Mac OSX is much more stable then xp or vista, seeing how i have a macbook pro and not once has it ever froze on me. Most likely due to user error probably, and please can we keep the ingnorant "lolz! make sux they cant play games..." comments out of this thread, its really quite ignorant seeing how macs arent designed to be gaming machines. Ask any graphic designer how it compares to OSX, there is no comparison. Now if i want to play games i'll go on my desktop with xp, that doesent mean OSX sucks, they are just developed with different intentions in mind.

Very true. A Mac is mostly meant for work, not gaming. Though, honestly, there is little to no CS2 performance difference between the two. And actually tests have repeatedly shown that Photoshop and several other CS2 components actually load and execute faster in WinXP than in Panther. Though, the difference is merely a matter of milliseconds for most executions to a few seconds for big, complex tasks. As for creating PDFs, there is no comparison. A Mac will smoke a PC.

Strangely, my crash and freeze experience has been the exact opposite of most. OS X 10.3.0 froze and crashed a lot, and XP Pro has run flawlessly for me. In all fairness, once I updated to 10.3.9 my Mac has run flawlessly as well. (I know of other G4 users that have had problems with 10.3.0, so I know it's not just me) Heck, even 10.4.9 runs flawlessly on my Hackintosh. And before you give me grief about my Hackintosh, I did buy a real copy of Tiger. I know that doesn't make it legit, but I still sleep at night. ;)

Doom 3 was garbage and so was quake 4. John Carmack has two of the biggest flops in history. Wait a minute did John make quake 4? If not the game still sucked big balls.Smiley_vivi

No, iD did not make Quake IV. Raven Software did. Raven is also making the Return to Castle Wolfenstein sequel. Also, iD is not making Quake Wars either. Splash Damage is.

iD properties being done by othe developers aside, I agree with A-S_FM. Doom3 was a very generic corridor shooter. However, I also agree with mimic-Denmark that Doom3 was well-made and provided what I thought it would. A well made and graphically pleasing fast-paced corridor shooter. Also, the Doom3 Engine was very well made and showcased a lot of potential. iD has always made great engines (Quake3 was a revolutionary engine) and, IMO the game delivered exactly what I expected plus some. (the pda thing was great and really like the ability to use the control panels and press specific buttons in-game)

When people say that Doom3 didn't deliver, I wonder what they had in mind.

I'm a graphic designer so I spend the majority of my days infront of OSX, Windows does not compare to OSX on any sort of creative level, OSX is amazing. I have a Mac Book Pro so I run Windows XP on it as well, only for gaming though. Over the years I've talked a lot with people about this same thing, it pretty much comes down to what you like to do, if you like games/programing/accounting than you probably love Windows, if you like music/making movies/photography/art than you like OSX, it's two diff people, artists like OSX and Brains like Windows. You can argue against that until you run out of breath but that is the way it is, if you're not into games or programming than you should be on a Mac...childe_roland

As a graphic designer I'm sure you know why Mac has been predominantly the main choice for print/design work. Those days are long gone. The software for Windows and OS X are identical. CS3 is the same on both. Actually, the only thing I can think of that makes OS X any bit better is its internal font managment and postscript to PDF manager. Then again, when you install CS2 for Windows it sets up internal postscript to PDF capabilities. I don't know what the hell you're talking about OS X facilitating creativity. I don't use Tiger. I use Panther, and it doesn't do anything for my "creativity" except run the damn programs that I need it to.

That aside, I do enjoy using my Mac and there are numerous things about OS X that would make me recommend a Mac for a family computer over any PC. Namely OS X's user security features. The OS is very well tailored to block a myriad of applications, folder access, and all sorts of stuff. Which is great if you, say, don't want your kids getting on the computer  late at night to browse the internet. Also, Macs are so idiot proofed that they are far the better choice for those who are not computer savy. Windows is often too confusing for those with little to no computer knowledge. Another bonus, for me, is that I don't have any games for Mac. Therefore when I'm logged into OS X, there is no temptation to shut down InDesign to play a quick game of FEAR that would extend into several hours of playing FEAR. :p

Regarding those who say OS X runs flwlessly... yeah, right! When I tried running Panther on my G4 after a fresh install, sans update, it crashed repeatedly. Even Safari would repeatedly close due to errors. Even after updating to 10.3.9 my Mac crashes and freezes more often than XP Pro. Not to mention that Mac hardware is horribly overpriced. Look at the price for their mighty mouse for Christ's sake! $50? No thanks... That's why I built a hackintosh, thanks to the OSx86 project. I use my Hackintosh for design work because it makes the transition easier between school and home (no need to remember the different keyboard shortcuts, even though they're practically the same).

Overall, I do like the look and feel of OS X, and I do think it makes for an easier work-oriented enviroment (the dock is a nice feature). But I wouldn't say that OS X is superior to WinXP, but I would say it is easier and much more idiot-proof. I can't comment on Vista as I have no desire to switch. XP Pro has been running flawlessly for me for years now and I see no reason to change to a potentially problematic OS. Like most in the design world, Os X for work, WinXP for play.

Yeah, good point. Forgot about that one. The Suffering looked pretty creepy, but I haven't played it yet. I'll have to give it a go some time.

The PS3 does suppport monitors.

As to why these games don't look good on monitors, its simple. Resolution. Most of the games that are being released are set to 720p, though a few games are being made to take advantage of 1080p output. In other words, most PS3 games are meant to display at a resolution of 1280x720. The really pimp-tastic games (1080p) can be displayed at 1920 by 1080. As for 1080i, you'd be better off running 720p. So, if your games look crappy on your monitor, it's either because you're playing at 720p and your monitor's native resolution is too high and not properly scaling, or your playing at 1080i, which will cause it to look even worse than 720p.

The thing is, you can't just hook up your PS3 to a monitor and expect it to run. Your monitor will need to have the proper native resolution (1920x1080), be HDCP compliant, and have an internal scaler (to properly display games that only support 720p). Something like this will work. http://www.samsung.com/Products/Monitor/LCD_Analog/LS24BRBASXAA.asp?page=Specifications

Fatal Frame series

FEAR

Sanitarium

7th Guest

Thief 3 (the asylum level is hella creepy)

Honorable mention: Sneak King. What could possibly be creepier than  the Burger King mascot popping out of a trashcan and sneaking up on people. That dude gives me nightmares. "No! No! I don't want to wake up with The King!" *springs awake upright drenched in sweat*
