@Shelledfade1 Did you mean epic reading fail? The announcement specifically says no need to connect online to play single player games. You just have to leave the disc in the drive just like how 360 games work today.

@shingui5 The be fair, this only impacts the DRM crap. No games have to change in any way what-so-ever because of this reversal.

@Martyr77 The DRM model they outlined is not something they can simply flip on at a later date. It required each game to come with a unique identifier, which most likely was going to be a registration code (just like how PC games work these days).

If the day one launch games all come with unique codes still.. then something is up. Otherwise, there's no putting that genie back in the bottle.

@Kristan1711 Exactly. There's no reason MS couldn't move forward with all the fancy features for the digital downloaded games libraries people build up. That is most likely what will happen, since most of that already exists on the 360 anyways.

Trying to cram disc based games into that model was a colossal **** up.

@Blndbot The logistics of setting up disc delivery for digital licenses requires the inclusion of one-time use codes with each game sold.

The chances of them changing it later are super slim due to the havoc it would cause for games already sold etc. They are pretty stupid, but not that stupid.

@Dazzy_D The response to Sony's E3 press conference didn't come from the community saying what they wanted?

Interesting point of view I suppose.

@allyal1 Microsoft has dominated with Windows out of sheer brute force. Innovation is not their strong point.

@Yamakoichi Probably too late for a spec change at this point. They're most likely already well into manufacturing components right now.

@grognard My primary console was the 360 this last gen, and I did plenty of complaining about the DRM bullshittery. I put in my PS4 pre-order earlier this week with no intention of ever getting a XONE. After this change, I might go ahead get a launch one.

Also, the family share plan you are talking about was absolutely not going to work the way you think it did. It was nothing more than a way to push 1 hour long demos of the games in your library out to your list of people. You'd have to be snorting a Mount Everest size pile of coke to believe that MS was going to let 11 people have unlimited access to a game that was bought only once. That was absolutely never in the cards.

@adrianjarca I'm curious how many people got shitcanned for this fiasco. I didn't think MS would **** something up as badly as they fucked up with the RROD, but they did it.. they really did it!
