People who say it's not a serious issue for PC gaming are in denial. When a pirate spreads the word to his friends about a game the conversation usually ends with "so, can you get me a copy?" There may be pirating of console games too but there are far more computer illiterate console players that don't know how to go about pirating games and gettting them to work on there console.

If all you played was the demo, do you really have an opinion on the matter? You missed everything that was really memorable from the game.
The single player was a bit short but excellent throughout. There were no lulls in the action and the story was very well done. Because it was so well done but short I think I'm actually more likely to play through the campaign again. The multiplayer is great and I'll be playing it for a while. I've already gotten my moneys worth out of this game so no it wasn't a letdown.

Yeap there is no prestige mode. I'm pretty sure it has somethign to do with stats being managed client side so people could just edit their cod4 files to get themt o max prestige mode so it would be pretty pointless. I do wish they had it though. Cod4 is now pointless after getting to lvl 55 and getting all the award things and gold weapons. Even if they do release new maps with it there is little incentive to play anymore.
You can still, you know, play. They did that in the old'n days, like in CoD 2 and Counter Strike Source, before games had to reward you to play.
One thing I haven't seen brought up is COD4 has many different game modes. Most of them allow you to respawn 15 seconds after you die. So you can get right back in the action. Counter Strike has two modes and both of them make you wait until the end of the round to respawn. So if you're having a bad game or if you just suck, it can make for an unenjoyable experience. If you're decent, it can be very satisfying. I do think CS is more challenging.
I've had some great times playing CS:Source and SOF2 online til 3am (or even 6am one time) after coming home from the bar. Don't get those opportunities much anymore.
Quit playing in newb servers. There are plenty of servers out there with people who know what cheats look like. As much as some people are anticlan, the best servers IMO are clan servers with an older membership.
It looks to me like you have to purchase CS:S seperately. It was packaged with Half-Life 2 when it first came out but it doesn't come with the Orange Box.
