Lets be honest: Was SOF that great a series anyway? I mean the violence was cool lol, but take away the blood and gore and you've got SOF 3, a now dated concept. The FPS genre has evolved and moved on thanks to games like ....yes Half-Life lol. Its not enough to just have shooting. You need a proper story, characters that you actually care about and have emotions.

Flaming Archers please hold your fire :D

The multiplayer of SOF2 was the sh#t and that's the biggest dissapointment of the payback. I spent many hours playing SOF2 mp and it wasn't because of the gore. Heck I still play it every now and then. Great, fast gameplay, great maps. The problem is all modern shooters are trying to go as realistic as possible. Realism doesn't always equal fun.

on the other people already knew how amazing the previous cod games where and knew cod4 wouldn't fail in being one of the best fps games. the mp just dominates any other fps game out.

I don't understand whats so amazing about cod 4 MP. I haven't played it yet but judgeing from its review and game play videos it doesn't seem any different from BF2 or CS.

It's all about the game play when it comes to multiplayer. Some games just have "it"... though it's hard for me to put my finger on what "it" is. A game can be a great single player experience but not have that 'umph' in multiplayer. Ever since SOF2 I've been looking for a game that can do it for me. I knew the other COD games had a similar style but I didn't like the WW2 combat. So I was hopeful for COD4. While it's likely that I will never fined any game as fun to me as SOF2, COD4 is pretty damn good.

I bought COD4 and went straight for the multiplayer. I haven't touched the single player game yet. There are probably a lot of folks out there in the same boat. And as some have already said here, COD4 will run on many more PCs than Crysis will. If i were to buy Crysis I would play the single player first.

Yeah, I like a little chaos but there are a couple of maps that are just too small for the number of players server admins try to cram in there. I prefer servers with around 14-20 players in general so that it's not too insane.

They're very different though. If your a big fan of vehicles then you won't like it. If your like me and like fast paced infantry combat then it's pretty freaking fun.

Yep, new video card will do the trick and nows a perfect time to upgrade that with the 8800gt just coming out. We just need the stores to get them in stock and stop gouging the prices.

It depends on what kind of save system the game has. If I can save where ever I want I will play on higher difficulties. If the game has save points, I'll play on normal. I don't like having to go back through an entire section of a level if I die.

I'm honestly not a big fan of vehicles. I like more fast paced infantry combat with smaller maps so COD4 would probably be for me. I like something I can jump right in to and rack up a bunch of frags in half an hour.

I played Crysis at my friend's place today. I wasn't a fan of Crytek before, and I'm not now. I never liked Farcry even one bit. I found Crysis to be goodgraphics with some run of the mill shooting and a boring alien story. He continues to tell me every little detail as it comes up. I thought that Farcry was one of the most overrated fps games ever created and Crysis is just like that. The suit mechanics don't revolutionise anything. That's like saying the magic mechanics in Dark Messiah revolutionised the genre. CoD 4 at least has good multiplayer.

Crysis is like Bioshock. It was so overhyped that it couldn't fail because it would make thousands of people look like fools for foaming so much over it.

So you would prefer scripted and linear gameplay that makes all the decisions for you rather than open-ended gameplay that lets you take complete control of every situation and deal with it how you please?

Whatever floats your boat I guess...

Scripted gameplay isn't always bad and often makes for very intense gameplay. The half life series has perfected it. It would be a bland gaming world if every game had sandbox gameplay. Give me variety.
