I've got MLB 07 The Show for the PS2 because I just got tired of waiting for the PS3 version to come out. The game is great, but I can't help but think I'll buy the PS3 version anyway. Anybody else going to do the same?caseystryker
It comes out in less than 2 weeks

Have you ever heard the ps3 through a decent audio system? There is no comparison between computer speakers and a dedicated home theater setup.
Who cares about that system , we are tallking about z5500 and they sound perfect and I got them my sefl :P
My argument was that they don't sound perfect and that the OP should consider a setup actually built for home theater. And to the other poster, I have my computer running into its own receiver and then into some orb speakers. Again, there are a lot better options than the boxed crap Logitech makes.

I personally dotn worry too much about how many channels of sound I get when playing a game. If it sounds good enough and looks great then I'm happy.
The only advantage you are getting with the HDMI is slightly better picture right? You should try hooking your PS3 up using component cables and see if theres a big difference. That way you can hook up the sound directly into your reciever and the video directly into your tv. It might be worth it to compromise picture quality for better sound. I'm not sure if that makes sense, but just a suggestion.

HDMI offers up to 7.1 channels of uncompressed sound. If you are playing a next gen system, you might as well get the next gen sound paired with the next gen picture. And if you think your tv speakers sound "good enough" you should not have bought a PS3. Half of its benefits over previous systems come from its great sound abilities.
Here are more specifics:

7.1 channel receiver $169

5 Speakers $199

2 more speakers to make it a full 7 speaker setup
$99
Instead of the two extra speakers, if more bass is needed:

10" Powered sub $125
So the whole package is less than $500 and the performance embarasses anything a logitech system is capable of.
[QUOTE="BroweChisox"][QUOTE="skbmassive"]The z5500 are great speakers and they are THX certified. I also have a Sony receiver with some onkyo speakers in my living room but I don't do anything in there. They sound great with consoles and movies even as good as most receivers. You will be suprised with the sound you get from them.

I have heard them, they lack mid range, are tinny, and the little amount of bass they do have is very boomy and not punchy. I dont think they are worth the plastic they are made from.
And where did you hear them? Anyway, unless you can name something better for under $300 or under $500 for that matter you really dont have an argument. You throw enough money at anything and you can get better. Our neighbors son has the speakers for his computer. And for under $500 I can do A LOT better. Start witha refurb Onkyo receiver for $200 and a 5 speaker package from fluance.com for 200 and you destroy the logitech setup.
