whoa there. one sec. you're telling me that mac is not faster than windows? ahahahha. nice joke there. put two machines one windows and one mac with say 1ghz processors and we'll see which one is faster.

anyway i would go with ps3 + hdtv, but a samsung one is unnecessary. try finding a westinghouse model, they're just as good quality and a lot cheaper.

Westy makes awful tvs.  The only people that say they are as good as higher end brands are those that bought the westy and try to justify the poor performance.  I have tested enough crap tvs to know Westinghouse falls in line with other budget lcds.

[QUOTE="jason13253"]3900 b/c it was reguarlly priced at 4600 but there was a berkshier hashway discount that i got and it was a big discount i also got a bose surround sound and it sounds sweet toMafia17

I find that hard to belive. I had bose and it sounds good at the store but when i brought it home the sound sucks. It was a big let down, after paying $3000 for it.

Bose is well accepted as the worst speaker company in terms of price/performance ratio.

can somebody take screenshot of 720p and 1080i comparison for me please, kthxbai. because i want to see for myself to see which one i like better.ddldave

A screenshot wont be able to show the difference. You have the resolution of the tv being passed through the resolution of a camera, passed through the resolution of your monitor. What you are asking is not realisitic. 720p might even look worse since you are only capturing half of its frames with a picture... unless the shutter speed is slow and then you might get a fuzzy image.  Why don't you just go to a store and see for yourself??

i don't see much of a difference, 1080p may be a bit better but not so much...ddldave

It is actually twice as good, since it displays twice as many pixels at any given time.

[QUOTE="matt_r2009"]So is 1080i better on a smaller t.v. than 1080p?matt_r2009

No, 1080p will always be the superior resolution. If you sit at THX Rerefernce distances, you can easily notice the difference. It does not matter how large the tv is. It seems like you are trying to convince yourself of something that is not true.

How does it seem so? Nah I was just wondering because I've been looking at T.V.'s And last night I was just thinking whats the difference. Just curious is all.

Well alright, what tvs have you been looking at.  I can make some recommendations if I knew a budget or size requirement.

Browie, what do you think of the new Sony KDL-40V3000 and the new Samsung 81 series (with LED backlighting)?SergeantSnitch

I think you are talking to me, maybe.  I am excited to see the new 81 series.  From who I have talked to, some people believe it to be a "super plasma killer".  While that seems to be wishful thinking, local dimming and LED backlighting should be a significant change.  The new 40V3000 is not the same type of huge jump (although is looks much nicer than the model it replaces).  You should be seeing the 81 series possibly by june, they are out in Asia now, but obviously we get them a little bit slower.

I can't see paying over $1000 bucks for a TV. That's insane. JDW_games

$1000 is not that much money at all.  People spend $30k on a car every few years all the time.  Most people will enjoy their tv more hours per day than their car.  People who really want to enjoy their tv should set a base price around $1800.

[QUOTE="freediro"]stick to bravia xbr if you can afforsd it especially if you can afford the new xbr3! they are still the best LVD's on the market you can check almost all reviews for it and its ranked the highest. if you cant afford that xbr3 go samsung great picture for about1500-1000 dollars less. oh yeah contrast ratio doesn't mean s**t its set by the manufacture.freediro

You are wrong, in order of performance right now:

LN-T5265F

Sharp D92U/D93u (assuming no bands)

XBR2/3

The difference between the 65F and the xbr2 is pretty significant (besides sd content, the XBR2 excells at this). I have professionally tested all three, and can guarantee you that I am correct.

ok i wont argue that the samsung and xbr2/3 are almost even but there is no way in hell the sharp can be second you must be crazy the sharp has so much problems with grainy images and pixalation, sharps give the best blacks and that it.

but if i was buying a tv i would buy samsung only because the xbr is way to overpriced because you pay mostly for its style.

Are you ISF Certified?  I don't think you have a clue about this.  Stop posting.
