If your getting an HDtv, get 1080p with an HDMI port. You'll regret it in the future if you dont. And you might as well get the best picture. They are more expensive, but if someone is spending 1000 bucks on a tv, might as well get a better one for 1500.ironwarrior2

There is no worthwhile 1080p tv for 1500 dollars.

I have played both, the show is the best baseball game ever created.  The reviews nitpick at really minor things that do not affect the realistic gameplay.  For example, I still have not run into the AI glitch tha ign mentions.  I have actually ground out to the ss who tags my guy on second who was leaning and then throws to first for a dp.  The graphics are incredibly smoothand it runs at a constant frame rate.  There is not even a question of which is a better baseball game.

You first need to buy a receiver, and then look at the 5.1 speakers that fit the receiver you buy.  Never buy an HTIB unless you dont care about audio quality.

Now I didn't bother reading the entire tread (all 150 pages), but I was wondering if anyone has done any research on Vizio HDTVs? I just got a 42'' LCD that supports up to 1080p. Was it a good buy or am I missing some huge flaw? Oh year, it was only 1699.99 Not bad for the size and quality. I also has two HDMI ports, a VGA input, 3 composite inputs as well as S-video.-oG-ShAdY

Vizio is a budget brand, and you should expect that type of performance.  While their plasmas range on mediocre, their lcds are of the same budget quality as Westy, Envision, Insignia and the rest.  While the tv will not be terrible, it certainly will not be good either.  I think you assumed that when you spen 1700 on a 42" lcd.  But hey, its better than nothing and bigger than anything else 1080p at the pricerange.

As I said I don't know much about HDTV's they are fairly new and I thought that maybe since they made it flat screen they also found a way to make it a lot lighter in weight. Also randomly searching the Internet for the cheapest thing you can find can get you the best deals its been proven to be a good idea. Also I was going to get reviews I did ask all the people on the gamespot forums who had it to review it for me. Evolutions999

Did you also think you can get a 40" tv for 149 pounds (~$300)??  The MSRP on that set is over ten times that price.  You should go read cnet.com before you embarass yourself more.

I can read just fine I assumed that bezel was just part of the T.V. code but yes I see now that its just some add on plastic thing. Evolutions999

The fact that it weighs 4.1kg should have given it away too.  Maybe you should find the tv based on ratings and reviews from professional sources before randomly searching amazon.com for the cheapest thing you can find (which btw is never a good idea)

I don't understand people not knowing about HDTV's and asking questions on forums...Everybody has it's own way to love a TV...

Go in a shop selling good HDTV's and ask a clerk to get tones of info...After searching on internet!

joelejuif

He still posted a link to a bezel.  Does no one else find this amusing?

I am looking into getting an HDTV to use with my PS3 and I just wanted some advice from HDTV owners or anyone who knows about HDTV's. Do you think that this HDTV I am looking at in the link is any good? Such as will it work at all with the PS3 because I heard a while back that some HDTV's don't work with the PS3? Also can it do the maximum resolution of 1080p? It seems very cheep is it just the same as the other HDTV's on offer today. Do you see any problems at all with me getting this to play my PS3 games because I don't know anything about HDTV's and I have never had one before?

It's the Sony CRU40X1B Black bezel for 40'' X series LCD HD ready TV

You realize that what you are looking at is a piece of plastic.  It is an attachment to the XBR tv.  Can you not read?

whoa there. one sec. you're telling me that mac is not faster than windows? ahahahha. nice joke there. put two machines one windows and one mac with say 1ghz processors and we'll see which one is faster.

anyway i would go with ps3 + hdtv, but a samsung one is unnecessary. try finding a westinghouse model, they're just as good quality and a lot cheaper.

mistervengeance

Westy makes awful tvs. The only people that say they are as good as higher end brands are those that bought the westy and try to justify the poor performance. I have tested enough crap tvs to know Westinghouse falls in line with other budget lcds.

ok... my eyes must suck then. but it seemed just a little bit worse and justified the 500 dollar price drop in my opinion compared to a same size samsung.

Well I have tested plenty of good panels and the Westy is much worse in:

Black level,  uniformity, color accuracy, contrast, accuracy of primaries, calibration quality, color temp over full range of IRE.  Essentially everything that matters, Westy was worse than any mid range LCD.  Obviously you pay such a small amount, you should expect low end performance.
