You should be looking at computer monitors , not tvs.  Any tv you will buy in your pricerange will be terrible.  Look at ViewSonic and NEC lcd monitors at about 22".

[QUOTE="rogerjak"]Pin this topic again!!RASECUL

A sticky for this topic is more appropriate than one on the GTA trailer that's for sure...

I'll bump this to heaven. So many HDTV threads are made everyday on PS3 board, I wonder if other nexgen boards have the same amount...

While this may be a great sticky topic, there are way too many people that ask really basic questions that belong in other places.   There is no reason to be asking about contrast ratio in a video game forum.  Do a google search for "HDTV contrast ratio explanation".  People are either way too lazy or clueless.  I hate reading the same "what is 720p/1080i/1080p", "hdmi vs component" , and "is this tv good?".  It is not needed and people should learn to do some research on their own.

[QUOTE="snaretrap745"]what a great way to spend 8.2 grand...... [pause]....... NOT.ultimameteora
I agree, you could've put a nice down payment on a car with that.

It is all relative.  8.2k is not that much money in the big schme of things to a lot of people.  I have setup many systems where one single speakers is a few times more expensive than this entire setup.

I wouldnt be advetising that you bought an HTIB.  Also to whoever said SVS subs were poor, get a clue.  If you are not spening over $1-2k on a sub, you will not be dissapointed in SVS (although I tend to side with HSU on most performance competitions).  Sure, its a little low end if you are looking for a mid-high range setup, but its a lot better than these kids do on these forums.

iTunes is easily the worst mp3 organizer/player software on the planet.  There are zero redeeming qualities about it besides that it can work with an iPod (also the most overrated music player on the market).  WMP11 is hardly better than iTunes, but I doubt we will see the ps3 suppoting foobar or the like.

[QUOTE="BroweChisox"][QUOTE="adamatoms"]

1080p will be the dominant force eventually.

If you have a TV over 50" it is noticable.

Right now? Not doable with most games due to taxing the system having to draw 2x the pixels.

720p better than 1080p with no qualifiers? No way. 1080p PWNZ 720p in a big way for movies on a big screen right now. Maybe not games YET, but movies. Come on over, I'll show you. ;)

The size of the tv NEVER matters. It is how far you sit from the tv. As long as you sit at THX distances or closer, you easily see the difference.

The size of the TV always matters. It's the relationship between size of TV and distance from the TV. A 32" 1080p tv vs. a 60" 1080p, you're going to have to sit close to the 32" to reap the benefits.

Of course seating distance is proportional to viewing distance, but most of the fools in this forum jusy say 50" or larger is a requirement.  You could have a 1080p 12" tv and notice the difference if you sist at THX distance.

The dvd playback is still abysmal.  Do some actual tests... beyond poor.
