Hey, here's a fun question...

Given that GameSpot reported back in September of last year that Halo Wars "awesome" and playable, according to Bungie...where are the screen shots now that were 9+ months later?

I mean, sure Bungie pulled that page and that quote off their site (backpedal much?), but it's a little late when one of the biggest gaming websites has you quoted as putting your foot in your mouth.

Wow you didn't even read my post. I'm complaining that 16 days, not 9hoosierman5000

Wow, I did, and wow, read mine. I said business days. You know...the days when people work...at businesses.

Again, assuming you're not just tellin' a tall tale.

I said hermits will get GTA4 in my other post. Console fanboys don't care about Crysis. The whole Crysis graphics argument stemmed from initial posts from hermits trying to own console users with posts like"Crysis kills console graphics!" Hermits threw the 1st punch. And, it seems like a majority of hermits' posts are about Crysis with the occasional Starcraft 2 thrown in. Most posts about Crysis are from hermits, not console users.Andthey are ALWAYS THE SAME.

It is always a thread that begins with images of Crysis trying to own console users. I always find that ironic, because PCs have better graphics technology in them than consoles anyway, so where is the ownage? It would be like me saying NES has better graphics than Atari 2600! Atari 2600 is owned! Thing is, Atari 2600 doesn't have the graphics tech that NES had.

I think that is what bothers me most about hermits. If it isn't them trying to own consoles with the graphics argument, then it is the mods argument. At least the mods argument holds up better than the graphics argument, but still....

AvIdGaMeR444

The mods argument is a good one, but the graphics argument is also pretty strong. Don't get me wrong, I think titles on both the 360 and PS3 (and even some Wii titles) look extraordinary. But this is coming from an old bastard who remembers CGA being da bomb. It's all relative.

And from that same perspective, there's little doubt that the new HD Radeons and GeForce 8800 series DX10 graphics cards simply blow away the performance you can get out of a 360 (which is comparable to the x1800 series). There's really no arguing it there...the 360 is 2005's technology, and technology keeps marching forward. Just as the PS3 is, technically, a more powerful system so too are today's computers more powerful than either, and tomorrow's computers will be more powerful than those of today. And developers will keep making applications to take advantage of improving hardware. Saying otherwise is to live in the land of denial.

[QUOTE="br0kenrabbit"][QUOTE="_AsasN_"][QUOTE="foxhound_fox"]Time to play some PC games then. There is an incredibly noticeable difference between 30 and 60fps... not to mention one between 60 and 120 as well. 30 fps is a decent framerate, everything is pretty smooth and there is a bit of jerking but 60 is incredibly smooth, especially if it is stable. A stable 120, well, lets just say it runs like melted butter.htekemerald

The difference between 30 and 60 fps is not an incredible one as you say. A locked 30fps vs. a locked 60fps is noticeable, but not much.

Untrue. The mouse input is directly related to your frames-per-second (thanx, Windows). Not only is 30FPS more difficult to aim in FPS games due to the mouse being less sensitive, but players and animations get all herky-jerky as well. I wouldn't play an FPS at 30FPS. I get mad when they drop below 60FPS. Anything over 100FPS I don't complain about.

Dude, your a idiot, I can play CS at 300 fps and at 30 and my KDR doest change at all.

Btw 99.9% of the population cant see above 70 fps, I highly doubt you can see over 100.

No, he's right. It gets harder to aim at lower FPS (pretty much on any game, on any system) because you're getting less visual feedback on what results your controller inputs are producing. Look at it this way...it would be harder to aim if you were looking at life like a slideshow, right? Well, lower FPS is moving towards that extreme on the continuum.

Just because you can adjust through experience to the lower FPS, doesn't mean that it isn't a harder task to accomplish.

rpgfan360

Hey...nice timely article from...February!! This is from way back in the day when Spore was still a Q4 07 release, pegging the DS version for Q2 08. How about getting something that might reflect the actual state of development, considering we haven't heard a peep about the DS version for months?

And youve been waiting how long for it. once another highly anticipated fps game comes around on the pc will you say that it cant compare to crysis, why dont you guys get a console which you know great games come out on all the time and you dont have to wait forever on it .my gosh this doesnt even have a release date. and alot of the things hermits say about crysis is very conceited.

end rant.

rpgfan360

I guess that's certainly true, considering someone like yourself only considers FPS titles to be "games".

Or, based on your name, regurgitated console RPGs with storylines that feel likea bad knock-off of Naruto?

My xbox 360 died in May. I tried to just write it off but I missed my favorite games so early June I called to have mine repaired. The first thing that you flood of repairees need to know is that their claim of 1-3 days repair time in their facility is a down right fraudulent lie. Every customer service representative recited this 1-3 day repair estimate. My xbox 360 arrived at their facility in McAllen Texas on June 21st, way before this latest warranty announcement.

hoosierman5000

So, basically you're whining that Microsoft is doing a terrible job because they took 9 business days to fix your broken console.

Assuming you ever owned a 360 and your anecdotal evidence isn't completely made-up.

Are you kidding? I remember when Tobal #2 came out, and offered30 and 60 FPS modes...the difference was readily identifiable. Even people who aren't videophiles can easily tell the difference between 30 and 60 FPS. It's readily apparent, unless you close your eyes.

Now, once you cross a point somewhere between 50-70 FPS, it starts getting harder, and I think it starts getting very difficult, if not impossible,to tell the difference unless you are doing an extended side-by-side comparison. Some people disagree with me here, but I'm fairly confident that without a tool like fraps, people couldn't tell if something is running at, say, 90 FPS vs 70 FPS.

Hey guys, cut him some slack. If hes talking about review scores, then I agree that Halo Wars could score higher than Starcraft 2.

Look at Zelda: TP....anything is possible on GameSpot. Plus, with the new review scoring system, I wouldn't be surprised if they get similiar scores.

Mercenary343

I'm inclined to disagree, and I think Zelda:TP is a good example of what that won't happen. As most of our readers will remember, the reviewer for Z:TP dared put a number lower than a "9" in front of a decimal point in his review. As a result, he was poisoned, shot, hanged, disemboweled, drawn, quartered, and the remainder of his person burned at the stake.

Reviewers in the post-blog era are terrified of losing their cred/being spoken harshly to by geeked up fanboys who froth at the mouth when things don't go exactly their way. Even if this new Halo RTS that I know nothing about and forgot was ever announced until I read the title of this thread is a better game than Blizzard's highly anticipated follow-up to the most sellingest RTS of all time, reviewers won't say so.They (and their publishers) will be afraid of being DDOS'd off the net or having their offices burned down or having Blizzard force them to start paying for their WoW accounts.

And that's pretty much why I think most video game reviews areBS...they tend to be more about running with the flock than giving an honest opinion to the consumer.

[QUOTE="MikeE21286"]I'm sorry, but MMORPG's are just retarded IMO. They are RPG's with no story (isn't that almost the main part of an RPG to most). Maybe if they had a story I could play through with someone else that'd be fun, but I tried WoW, and that grinding stuff is not fo meTechnoweirdo

A half billion WoW subscribers can't be wrong...

Half-billion = 500,000,000.

What? :?

I think they call that hyper bowl.

For the record, I'm a reformed WoW addict. Clean for about 9 months now.

Still get the shakes whenever I see a Burning Crusade banner ad, though.
