All you have to say is Havok engine, I went out and rebought (after selling) COH again. It is wonderful. There is also a group modding COH to a modern setting. US vs. Chinese. I love watching those body parts fly.
[QUOTE="GSU28"]I thank you for input, but I cordially disagree. I believe it will be slow, but once word spreads it will gather into a tempest. Alas, this might just be my hopes talking.dnuggs40
Two things...
1) You can disagree all you want, but it's not going to happen.
2) Why do you hope WoW will get toppled? Are you some kind of scorned lover of WoW? What incentive do you get if WoW dies? A cookie?
You sound like the scorned one. They said Everquest wouldn't die, well it did. WOW is getting old and soon as the next wave of online gamers find Conan or Warhammer, the customer base will dwindle. Lets face it, both games have newer features that WOW does'nt have. Do I think WOW will go away anythime soo? No. It's accessible to kiddies. Conan will not be. I for one want WOW to go away so something new can fill the void. I did my time and I am ready to move on to the next thing.
The Witcher is incredible. Although there isn't a party per se. it is an amazing rpg. Not to mention the hero is this amazing womanizer who makes you want to complete the quests to get your shag on totally worth it. Check it out. Also mass effect for PC will be out soon. I played it on Xbox 360 and it rocked.
I am not being a console fan boy, but 360 has downloadable content. I just forsee people not sitting at a computer in the future. I see people doing everything from the comfort of their couch. Already paper thin keyboards are in production. I misspoke when I said the pc market will shrink, I just think it will merge with the console market. People will compose email from the couch with giant flatscreens on their wall. Slowly the family tv will be the center of life(as if it wasn't already)I think the guy who said if you have $2k get a pc and if you have $500 get a console was smack on the money. We will see what the future holds.
I don't think you ever really say goodbye to your PC, but it is slowly being eclipsed by consoles. Face it I could have bought Bioshock for PC and had to patch and play with settings and hope and pray it works well. Instead I bought it on 360 and it ran flawlessly and I had an uninterrupted gaming experience. All the hardware folks on here argueing about what card is best are PC purists and have awesome rigs. You cannot get an awesome rig that will be awesome next year for the amount that you will pay for a console. Console games always get better the longer the life of the console. PC games just up requirements forcing you to by more gear. PC gamingis for people who have disposable incomes. Now that I have a baby, less time, and less disposable income, consoles make more sense, especially since the quality of games have jumped dramatically. Mass effect is one of the best RPG's I have played, COD 4 was beautiful and ran great on my 360, I could go on. Five years ago I would have said no way would I have jumped ship to consoles, but now days with the direction games are going it's only a matter of time before the PC market shrinks due to the ease of use that consoles present. Good luck with your decision.
Financially speaking you would do better with a console. My very nice pc rig collects dust. I am playing Mass Effect and having one of my top 10 gaming experiences. Too many PC games are bugged when they come out.Neverwinter Nights 2 is still bugged and how long agodid that come out? I think next gen has caught up with PC as far depth of gaming. Plus you can rent console games. I have downloaded my share of demos for PC and ended up with trash once the game releases. Who buys back pc games now? No one. At least I can trade in my console games. I still play World in Conflict and Civ 4 but I have definatley been getting way more bang for my buck with my XBOX 360. I will never truly give up PC gaming, but console gaming is where my money goes these days. I am tired of having to buy this and that for my PC just to play a few games. No fun anymore.
