@texasgoldrush: We're talking about opinions here. I mean, you can argue that motor oil tastes like frosting if you like, and you won't technically be *wrong*, but few will agree with you.
Consensus opinion about ME:A is that it's sub-par and bland.
Everything about Andromeda screams 'cash grab'; a game designed by formula, with an eye to recycling as many free assets as possible. It's the Iron Man 3 of video games.
Even the game's core conceit, travelling to a new galaxy-- it's one seemingly original idea-- is quickly revealed to be nothing but a cheesy way to reboot the series without officially rebooting it. It's a soulless copy of the original game, right down to the 'find the ancient alien technology'. And worst of all, this paint-by-numbers retread isn't even competently built. It's a mess, from the unusable menus to the laughable animations and character designs, to plain old bugs.
The split should be a Mass Effect 1 face on one side, and one of Mass Effect Andromeda's googly-eyed ventriloquist dummies on the other, with a 'Without EA and SJWs' on one side, and 'With EA and SJWs' on the other.
@igorphoenix : Yeah, that's weird. I've read several reviews that were nothing but lists of negatives... and then it ends with a B+.
EA spends a lot of advertising dollars, and a lot of those 'yeah, but...' reviews reek of someone going out of their way to make excuses and provide a good score to a mediocre game.
@nibbin1191: The sales numbers were good on DA:I-- that's all they care about. And if enough chumps buy this one, they'll pinch off an equally crappy sequel in a year or two.
I don't play a lot of JRPGs, but I do love Japanese character design. It's so... I don't know... they just don't give a crap about realism. If it looks cool, it's in. The approach in the Witcher 3 is amazing, with armor and outfits that actually appear functional, but there's something about the whole 'screw it, give her a twelve foot sword' thing that's always fun.
