There is still a cost to marketing, retail selling, etc. - Selling cost

So it costs Sony $381 to make the console, but that doesn't include other costs like having retailers sell it.

Quote from article:

Materials for each player cost $372, and manufacturing adds $9 more in expenses, researcher IHS Inc. said today in an e-mailed statement.

Additional costs would include software, licensing, royalties and other outlays, IHS said. Retailers also collect a percentage of the sale price.

Bottom line:

Manufacturing Cost per console: $381

Selling Cost: ?

So it costs Sony $381 to make the console(manufacturing costs), but that doesn't include other costs like having retailers sell it(selling cost). So they only make an $18 profit on selling the console(that of course does not include other costs other than manufacturing), but they will be able to recoup those losses through sales of games, content, and psn subscriptions.

Apologize to me for this deception.

No Caption Provided

I don't need to apologize for anything. Especially because your feeble mind can't comprehend what the term truly means.

Even if you know that it is wrongly defined, you still use it. Or maybe you didn't know it was wrongly defined because you believe everything you read on the internet.

In any case, you have no one to blame but yourself.

So you admit you made your own definition? Makes sense. A lot of people have been misusing the term AAA, when they don't even understand the definition of it. Just because somebody on the forum says it is that way, doesn't mean that the industry defines it that way.

I made it up yet you admit many people on forum use. Please make up mind and stop selfowning. Go cry in corner with B+ and being lemming to marketing dept.

Ok, so you didn't make it up, but you misused the term because you never bothered to check what the term truly means. You know the way that people use the term is wrong, but still use the term that way. Typical.

lol silly lemming contradict himself in next sentence. You again twist word saying that I made up term, then next sentence you admit a lot of people also use this term, selfown. Are you saying I am powerful and all these user follow me in using this term? Haha.

You can be slave to marketing department and follow, this is the nature of a lemming. Call B+ if this make you happy. AAA is term gamer use, as you admit. Instead of arguing of B-, B, B+, typing 8+ average, 9+ average. AAA and AA make thing easier and common to gamer. Now, back to topic and no more crying of this.

Do you even know what misusing means? Right now, you are misusing the term AAA. You made your own definition by saying 9+ games are AAA games. when in fact the industry considers AAA games as large budget quality games with a large team and significant amount of sales.

I didn't say you made the wrong definition for others, but that you made a wrong definition of the term AAA for yourself.

@psymon100:

No problem man.

@BattlefieldFan1:

So you are basing all of this information off of rumors? How hard would it be for Microsoft to implement the 8 - party chat feature like in the Xbox 360?

What we have been hearing from all reliable sources/ gaming sites is that the Party chat of Xbox One will be exactly the same as the Xbox 360's meaning you can party chat anytime regardless of what you are doing on the Xbox, but Microsoft may also consider increasing the number of people in the Party chat from 8 if the demand for it is high.

Microsoft's definition of a party chat : An Xbox Live party lets you invite up to seven people to communicate online while you all do other activities, like watching movies, playing games, or just chatting.

Not only that, but you can now have 1000 friends on Xbox Live, have followers, etc.

Another thread by this immature fanboy made in order to make himself feel better about his pathetic life. Why even bother replying to this diehard Sony fanboy? You reek of insecurity.

He is so insecure about his precious PS4, that in order to make himself feel better about himself, he makes threads degrading Microsoft and Xbox in any way.

You can have party chat anytime even without playing the same game. If your friend is at the dashboard/home, you can still have a party chat with that person even if you are playing a game, or are playing different games. Stop spreading MISINFORMATION. It works just like the Xbox 360 party chat.

Xbox One has twitch and streaming will be available early 2014. Do you even bother to research before posting?

I don't really care if it comes next year, as I will be buying mine next year, together with a PS4.

You are confusing marketing AAA with gaming AAA. AAA- 9 above, AA- 8, A-7. No studio says "We are develop AA or A title." Sorry, I forget about Forza that year. My mistake, at least you admit 2 years ago however.

I play Halo 4, I like but many hardcore fan abandon and reviewer penalize for becoming too "COD." Developer having to do massive updates and youtube campaign to bring gamer back. Maybe next halo will be AAA and learn from mistake.

The definition I gave is an industry definition of an AAA game, where did you get that criteria that an AAA game must be 9 above? Please cite a source that the industry considers a game that is 9 above an AAA game.

The video game industry considers AAA games as a game that sells a lot, and has a big team, with a large budget. You have just made your own definition as to what an AAA game is.

An 87 on metacritic is already a very high quality game, especially because Halo 4 has 87 reviews on metacritic by professional critics. Halo 4 has also sold millions of copies, and generated a large revenue for Microsoft and developers. So it is an AAA game.

@timbers_WSU: Probably only way MS can get decent first party.

That a boy, show your ignorance. They have the top rated racing studio from the PS3 / 360 era, and 343. Sony's first party FPS have yet to surpass the worst Halo game in quality and 343 proved they can make good Halo games. Lionhead isn't a bad studio either. Black Tusk is showing promise as well.

Meanwhile at Sony you have Zipper, Studio Liverpool, Incognito, Eat Sleep Play, oh wait. No you don't.

I'm sorry you obvious joking or on illegal substance. Last AAA average exclusive MS put out is 2 year ago, and made by Epic not first party. Talking of ignorance, hahhaha. MS most talented developer like Ensemble shut down, and Bungie jump ship because they not wanting to go down with Titanic. Also, brag of Halo no longer AAA series after last game? Selfown.

I guess you don't know what the definition of an AAA game is. Let me define it for you.

Definition:

A AAA game, or pronounced "triple-A game", is generally a title developed by a large studio, funded by a massive budget.

Source: http://gameindustry.about.com/od/glossary/g/Aaa-Game.htm

BTW, Forza 4 came out two years ago too and it is an AAA game, as with Halo 4 which came out last year. I bet you never played Halo 4, so your opinion does not count. Contrary to what you believe, Halo is still a massively popular franchise, grossing $220 million dollars on launch day, and $300 million dollars during launch week.

Forza 4 - 91 metacritic

Halo 4 - 87 metacritic
