$2 billion in profits and they can't afford to host east coast servers anymore.
Thanks, Blizzard! Us easterners really appreciate being left out in the cold and having sub-par gaming experiences, especially in your competitive titles.
@PSYCHOV3N0M: This co-op was in the same vein as Dark Souls: Optional summons.
They removed the ability to play through with people in their first playthrough.. which means a full co-op run with a friend with with you both playing the game for the first time is completely gone; a pointless restriction.
Sure, maybe it would've made the game too easy, but a cheap difficulty slider which just tweaks numbers would've basically done the same with next to no development work.
Blizzard removed all the east coast servers for their games, except Starcraft 2.
WoW's eastern servers got moved to central a few years ago, along with the rest of the eastern ones, sans SC2. The old classic battle.net realms were US West and US East.. but now instead of East physically being located in the east, they're in central, so this made their older games lag more too.
Diablo 3 and Hearthstone are west coast only, and as such D3 lags so bad I just quit playing since it completely ruined the speed builds I used after they removed them and made changes to "reduce server load".
I currently play HotS competitively on a Master level and the removal of the eastern server still hurts to this day. It's even lost me a few games. We've complained about it since they removed it but no amount of complaints have gotten them to add it back.
Blizzard is a shining example of a company who tries to cut costs as much as possible and milk as much money as possible from their customers, despite making over a billion dollars of revenue a year and can fully support all the regional servers they used to have. So, so stupid.
East coast US server please.. already deal with enough west-only games that provide a poor experience. For us easterners, there's almost no difference between latency to the west coast vs Europe; they're equally bad.
