[QUOTE="BoloTheGreat"]This thread has flat out the worst Ain-PC arguments i have EVER seen, at least TRY when you hate on something. All i can tell is that most of those doing this have little or No knowledge of the system, how it works or it's games. kidcool189
definitely not the worst...jasonheyman threads anyone?

lol oh yes and Wok7!! Then there is the Doom 3 guy who goes on and on about how its a better game engine than the CryEngine lol.

[QUOTE="rcignoni"][QUOTE="skektek"]

Valve is just lazy.

skektek

I'm not going to argue with that, on account of Valve Time. But Valve just doesn't have the people or time to spend money deciphering the cell's architecture.

Odd paradox. Ninja Theory, who is both younger and smaller than Valve, was able to "decipher the Cell's architecture" to make Heavenly Sword.

But Valve make multiplatform games, they focus on PC and have much of their intellectual property invested in PC gaming. To call them 'lazy' implies they are idle and not doing anything. A better description would be something along the lines of them being unwilling to invest time, resources and money into a new platform. Call them overly-cautious but not Lazy.

A smaller younger developer has literally no choice but to be more risky in their development. Different businesses, different business decisions.

[QUOTE="Span_Argoman"] In this post we have another example of opinion stated as fact.

princeofshapeir

Nope. You just didn't read my post. :)

You worded your opinion terribly. It sounds like you're saying that the universe revolves around you and that because you don't like PC exclusives, consoles are teh bestest.

I thought console only fans were allowed to use personal opinion as fact and they are even allowed to use personal blogs as a credible source, no? :P

.

In all seriousness though, I don't mind people stating their own personal opinion on a matter, something along the lines of, "thats just my opinion" etc, its when you get posts like the one above where the guy is actually saying

consoles > PCs because I say so!

What I have never understood is: the SPUs are dedicated chips for processing vector math which from my understanding is precisely applicable for running vertex shader code. If that is right, then whats the difference between an SPU on the Cell and a Vertex Shader orStream Processor on a GPU?

the difference is that sony doesn't have to play GPU license costs to other companies.

They ended up putting in the RSX anyway, why didnt they go for a more powerful GPU? Something with more stream processors than the Cell has SPUs?

STALKER is amazing, and the only people that would badmouth it are console fanboys. It has such awesome atmosphere and the RPG/Open world gameplay is great as well.

edit: I remember the first time one of those invisible things came at me i probably almost **** my pants. :P

Its the sound aswell. When you're underground, wearing a good headset and you can hear faint noises in the depths, kind of like an irons gate being scaped along a concrete floor, dripping noises etc.

Also, you always feel vulnerable especially early on, you know you can die easily and so it makes going round each corner a very nervous experience.

Call me cynical but...I reckon that, if this game was on the PS3 it would be a game that other gamers "just dont get how good it is!". I know I'm projecting somewhat but this game would get soo much praise lol.

[QUOTE="Fetus5"]

instead of the Cell being used like a common von nuemann model..." most PCs" where the CPU crunches the majority of the numbers. The Cell Is Usedmore like a manager that "Breaks" down the Information and sends it to specialized parts to be processed at the same time. This is a very rude explaination.

No way, for me it was RainbowSix 3 and then Black Arrow. I had previous experience of playing some PC shooters prior but without a headset I never really appreciated the social side of online multiplayer.

On Xbox Live, I have fond memories of settingup evening matches, a few of us regulars playing into the early hours. The lobby system was great, joining a room with friends, organising teams, arguing over who got which kill the round before. The games and maps were very tactical, no respawns and so going in gung-ho meant a 5 minute wait till next round. No game, that generation beat that experience for me.

PC: 12 AAAEs, 65 AAEs

360: 5 AAAEs, 14 AAEs

PS3: 1 AAAAE, 4 AAAEs, 11 AAEs

Wii: 4 AAAEs, 10 AAEs

http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=pc5oLqpenpT78W87pMfgvBA&gid=3

So that's PC's 12 AAAEs and 65 AAEs to Consoles 1 AAAAE, 10 AAAEs and 35 AAEs.

Hungry_Jello

Too bad PC has 0 AAAAEs. But that is a lot of AAEs. The AAAEs are nearly the same. PC isnt owning, but neither are the consoles. If PC had more genres it could be better.

PC has every genre that is on console and MORE!!. FPSs, TPSs, WRPGs, JRPGs, RTSs, TBSs, Sports, Music, Racing, Flight Sims,Tycoon Sims, MMORPGs, MMOFPSs, Platformers, Kids, Casual, JAVA/Web Browser, Free Games, Puzzle Games, Indy Games, Mods, Free DLC and Superior Multiplats. Have I left anything out? 8)

TC you should correct your title to Dreamcast 2 at least.

Personally, no I do not see it happening.
