Wait...are people comparing the DRE to the RROD..the RROD makes dre look like a pushover. Infact its the worst design flaw in a console..ever! How it got the green light is beyond me, but MS knew about it...so it isn't surprising. I find it funny how people go..bu bu sony dus it TOOOOOO.. I addressed that, its only that MS does it a lot worse and with little to no respect.

Nagidar

You mean like it taking a Class Action Lawsuit against SONY to actually ADMIT there was a problem with the PS2? Like that?

lol so owned im sorry to say! This thread is becoming epic lol.

Oh and slambo, how did you address it exactly?

If they are grooming it as the next GTA, you'd think they'd want to cash in on all platforms. GTA was huge on the 360. That makes no sense to me. Did Sony pay a huge dollar for it or what? Or by the time it comes out they expect microsoft to have a new console coming out? Which they will eventually port it to? Are they just going back to their sony roots just for the interm or what?

Pariah-

They explained that exclusivity is the best method by which to debut a franchise since it takes advantage of the console's individual strengths. The sequels might be multiplat, but due to Rockstar's good relationship with Sony, they went one particular way this time around.

Ok, if they are going with the PS3 as the lead platform, thats fair enough but they will undoubtedly be ignoring a larger install base in return for this. Considering the amount of content already released on 360 and their expertise already gained in developing for the 360, I find it hard to believe they would develop exclusively for the PS3. It doesnt make sense.

Sony must be offering them some kind of incentive for exclusivity. Like I said, in my previous posts, thats no shame on Sony, its actually a smart move to take the risk and invest in a new and possibly very successful ip!

I wonder why people here try to defend evil/bad business pratices. Do they work for Microsoft? Another one of Microsoft's dirty tactics: hire people to write in forums and attack any and all legitimate criticisms against the company?LittleTitu
Do yourself a favour, write down each one of MS 'evil' business tactics, then go research to see if:

(a) Sony do the exact same thing

(b) Whether it is actually an 'evil' business practice

Then come back and post your findings. Until then, any of us who understand how the business world works will file you under the misinformed-fanboy (please no offence ment to you) section and move on :p

[QUOTE="Slambo86"]

what have they done this gen besides giving a more stable online system? Don't give me achievements, because its nothing but unlockables done last gen but in a different manner.

When the 360 debuted, memory cards, NO full HD, No built in wifi, NO new format, hdmi, no new controller, nothing....it was rushed garbage. Whats even funny, when sony debuted with the attitude of FULL HD, NEW FORMAT..MS laughed and then adopted the same thing and now look at the 360...you could rename the f'en Elite the PS3. (black, 1080p, bigger HDD, HDMI)

Yes, because a company improving their hardware is always a bad thing. Shame on MS for trying to offer additional connectivity and features for their customers!

Now with the Wii motion controller/ new interface with Mii's and installation seen with some PS3 games, which MS laughed at early on....has them doing the same thing.

Are you seriously bashing MS for coming up with a camera that senses 3D motion in order to attempt to improve the accessibilty of the platform? And I guess Sony's motion controller idea is totally innovative and original right? As far as offering installation of games, this is a practice that the PC has done for years before the PS3 even released and you accuse MS of copying Sony in that regard? Not to mention that the installation feature is purely optional as opposed to mandatory in many PS3 games?

MS just sit back and watch, then later adopt it and call it there own (lol at natal). While sony isn't innocent on the deal, atleast..they were first to impliment full HD movies, new format, HDMI, and overall a more quality built console, concerning inbuilt features. There original idea was to do a full entertainment system and both Wii and PS3 stick out on there own...360 is the guy trying to catch up and stick out, desperatly. Both Ninty and SONY had a vision..which was reached...MS had none, but to rush out and try and just take ground on the console war...as with everything.

The 360 is playing catch up? Surely you jest. Look at all the Xbox Live features that Sony has been quick to adopt for the PSN, such as the video store, the in game XMB, custom soundtracks, trophies, etc. but of course, Sony couldn't also be playing catch up in that regard.

whats even worse is MS claimed Natal wasn't inspired by the Wii....LMFAO!

No wonder MS is so damn hated.

all this copying and critisizing...including the fact that the 360 is the most flawed peice of hardware (RROD)....is laughable. If it wasn't for there head start, (to gain that much needed support) they would have fopped so hard. MS know this, so thats why they rushed it. Priceless.

i'm done.

Please blog it next time, oh, and come up with better arguments while you're at it.

The_Game21x

Guys correct me if I'm by all means but, there seems to be a sudden surge in the number of angry cows lol. I'm not talking the normal ps3 fans that i have always enjoyed debating with (as a self confessed hermit myself) over the years from crysis to killzone 2 etc. These guys post really short stuff and really angry stuff. Where have all the old cows gone?

Well well looks Agent is another game lemmings are gonna cry for just like MGS4. Funny how PS3 is the most hated system on SW but has the most desired games, why cant lemmings just get a second job to purchase a PS3 :lol:Swift_Boss_A
I think you're just showing yourself up to be equally as fanboyish. Both cows and lemmings would love titles from each platform. I agree this has the potential to be another coveted title by other platforms but by responding with "lemmings are gonna cry" you just sound like a fanboy yourself mate.

i think its going to be like haze, where the project isnt turning out so hot, so they figured, well lets make it exclusive, so that people who own that system will feel more compelled to buy it than if it was multiplatform.

VendettaRed07

lol why would they do that? If the project isn't going so well, then they would simply address why and take longer to put it right. This is Rockstar and they're success is built on the success of their franchises. They wouldn't want to release a 'not too hot' title on any platform. They would rather hire more talent, take more time etc

Making a game exclusive is a not the type of decision a developer would take if they felt a project wasnt going right. They would cancel the project first.

I'm sure money had something to do with it.

Episode_Eve

Money could be involved. I think it's more to do with marketing budget and man-power towards development (as alluded to by comments by Sony and T2). Plus, R* wants to really focus on 1 platform and get the most out of it. Blu-ray and standard HDD could be reasons for them choosing PS3. As is the history and relationship between the two. As for it staying exclusive, as in going to PC, that depends on Sony's involvement. It could happen...And if Agent becomes a hit franchise, don't expect sequels to stay exclusive.

Exactly, there is absolutely no shame in paying for exclusivity rights, its something that has always been done in the industry but no all of a sudden, people act like its an act of corruption. It just like in sports, you have a limited budget and you need to choose carefully, who you sign as your star players. Sony may have seen a possible future hit in the making and so have backed them financially. They would no doubt offer other support that goes with being exclusive to the platform. These sorts of deals/contracts can include lots of benefits for both sides, development support, reduced fees/royalties to Sony, advertising and of course financial backing for the project.

Aw man, I am loving some of the responses in this thread.

Some of the same people who constantly bash MS for buying exclusives without any proof are the same people who are saying "Rockstar did it out of the goodness of their hearts" and "Sony wouldn't have paid them for it" (you know who you are) now that Rockstar has announced this game to be exclusive to the PS3.

So, the next time the Xbox 360 gets a third party exclusive, are we to assume it was done out of the goodness of the developer's heart as well or will you guys be saying MS bought that one too, despite no proof to support the claim?

Verge_6

Bribing is one thing and funding a project is totally another. Infact MS goes to new heights,by stealing franchises...lol

Yup. When MS does it, it's bribing. When Sony does it, it's funding. I know how it goes down.

I know, the MS hate (and Sony love :p ) is strong in this one lol. You would think some fanboys would tone it down a bit and at least try to be a bit more subtle in order to preserve some credibility.

Anyway, the only reason any developer 'doesn't' release on a very profitable platform (especially considering they have made plenty of money before and released exclusive content) is because of funding/ money/ exclusive deal has been struck. This isn't like last gen where the Xbox brand was new, untested and way less profitable than the PS2, Rockstar have released lots on the 360 and made lots of money.

I personally find it very hard to believe it's not because of Sony backing for the project. I also think its a very smart move by Sony and they have trumped MS in a big way by securing this as an exclusive. I think Sony have gone after Rockstar and considering their back catalogue, its a good move. Thats my opinion.

Mvgreddy: wake up man, securing exclusives is done by money. The same tactics are employed by MS and Sony, their is nothing, unethical about it, it's just common business practice.
