Wow, thanks for all the positive comments and links, guys! There's A LOT to dig into here. Okay, hope y'all don't mind some more questions. For Chrono Trigger, I'm thinking I'll just get it for my DS, since looking on Ebay, all I can see are 30 dollars + for a used game and the new DS copy is only 35. Same things for final fantasy 3, and 4. I have all variations of Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter, some on the computer, and some on my old Genesis. But killer instinct I don't have a good version of, so I'm thinking about that. I wanted to ask how accessible is it without using an arcade stick? Like some moves in Street Fighter are impossible to do consistenly without a stick, and I'm wondering if Killer Instinct is the same way. The Mario games I'm down for, also Donkey Kong Country, Metroid, TLoZ, Pilot Wings, and Star Fox.(loved his N64 title, so its a no brainer). Also want to ask about this one RPG that ISN'T available for a current gen handheld....Earthbound. Anybody here know which is best to get(since they range from 60-100): Earthbound, Mother, 1, 2, or 3? Which is THE one to get. And finally, are they worth the price they command on Ebay? I hear so much hype surrounding them, but I'm just not sure if they're worth it.

So, I was pulled into a Goodwill store the other day. Saw SNES cartridges laying on the VHS tape shelf. One was Xmen vs. Spiderman Arcade Game, and the other wrestlemania. Thought to myself: Wouldn't it be nice if I had a SNES....wish they had the system....and as I was walking out, I saw their "cart" where they bring out new stuff to be put on the shelves. Low and behold, a sad and neglected SNES with 2 controllers, one TV cable, 1 power cable(thing is a brick, man), and 1 lonely game of Super Mario Cart stuck in the cartidge slot was sitting on the top of the cart. Next to it, a copy of F-Zero. I looked over the console and it looked like it was in excellent condition. Then I saw the price. Some idiot had crudely written "$8" on it. So I walked out of there with everything for $10.(games are 1 buck each) Left the other two games on the VHS shelf. I was happy. Brought it home, hooked it up, and it works. The Snes talked to me, said it was very sad and lonely. Said it had been sitting in a box for a long time and that some old wicked woman had driven it to that strange store that smelled of mothballs. Said it didn't like the 12 inch TVs, the broken toys, the dirty stuffed animals, and the printers that were out of ink that it had to sit next to. Said it never wanted to be put away again. Said it wanted to be my friend, as it had been for some little boy, 20 years ago. Said that me and it would get along, since we were the same age. So far, I love my new friend, and I'll never turn my back on it. 3 questions. 1: Did I get a good deal? 2: Where should I get games for it(not amazon or Ebay)? 3: Which games are essential to play?

Hey all, I was shopping for a shiny new DS this afternoon, and I was trying to pick a color, when I remembered something. When the Blue and black DS Lite came out, there were problems with dead pixels....and when the blue and black DS Lite came out, there were yellow tinted screens. My question is, which is least problematic? Pink(never getting that color), Silver, Blue, or Red? Or have they all been cured of this disease now? I had my heart set on a black one, but they seem to be discontinued. Anyways, I look forward to your answer, here's hoping red and black is problem free.('cause that's the one I'll get if I don't find a new black one).

[QUOTE="Coda_"]

[QUOTE="iQuaKe"]I've had my 360 since launch date with no problems and I thought I was a lucky won. I was so wrong. My xbox got the 3 rings today and now I have to pay the $139 to get it fixed. If only it had happened months ago, It would have been free. I am convinced that every xbox is faulty and destined to break sometime. Those that have a sense of "oh, mines not going to break", need to accept the fact that It will. My friend just got his fixed box back and he's pleased with the results. I hope mine comes back fixed like his.Bgrngod

You really should not give up that quick. This same thing happened to me. Call them (M$) back be nice but stern and tell them how you came across a article on how M$ was repairing 360's that were made in '05 for free. And since your system is part of that batch you should be able to get yours repaired for free as well.

I was in the same suitation as you a few weeks ago, and you can read about it a few pages back. But I just got back my brand new 360 last week, and I did not pay them a dime for it! Good luck

MS is not fixing 2005 360's for free anymore. That "promotion" has been discontinued (yes that is an actual quote) I spoke with 3 supervisors, complained for a really long time, and filed a BBB report. MS actually called ME back after the BBB report (a case handler called) and they still would not cover the repair cost. Mine had a manufacture date of 12/5/2005 and I got back a 12/23/2005 console.

Bgrngod, I'm not trying to step on anyone's toes here, but, as far as my experience is concerned, MS is NOT done with that "promotion". I've spoken with at least 10 other people with my case of "Tell them about free repair, 'warranty is magically extended'". So I don't know if perhaps you have a special case, or maybe they have wrong information in front of them concerning your console's manuf. date, but I really wouldn't discourage newer people with our old problems not to at least TRY to grab that free repair. Claiming that "MS wouldn't fix my 360 for free" would be one thing, but flatly stating that "MS is not fixing 2005 360's for free anymore." and calling people's stories about getting a free repair "Horse Crap" is something else. I'm sorry that you were basically fed a bunch of bull and had $140 taken out of your rear, and that you are understandably bitter, but please, don't shoot down a useful fact to others, therebye possibly taking $140 out of THEIR rears too. Please, anyone with a console manufactured before Jan. 1st, 2006, attempt to get a free repair before you give in to their price...call back until you get a differant representative, but the worst thing any of you can possibly do is feed the big Software Giant ANOTHER 140 un-deserved dollars. Good luck to you all with your problematic 360s...Godspeed and Goodluck to you all. :)

Hey all, Well, it is official. Christine is gone for good. :( I didn't get her back afterall. Actually, the same day I posted my message(6/15/07) my package came. No e-mails. No tracking numbers. No warning. No nothing. I can't believe they never contacted me when they sent it, but whatever, I got another console back. Although she isn't Christine, I'm growing to love her just the same. I don't know if our relationship will ever be the same as Christine and Mine's was, but I'll enjoy "Eleanor's" company all the same. I take good care of her the past week I've had this new girl. "Eleanor" is NOTHING like christine was. For 1, she's a refurbished system. Yes, sad to say, she's seen rough times before, obviously. For 2, she was created much later, October 24th, 2007, to be precise. Yes, Eleanor is, in fact, very close to being a Halloween girl. :P For 3, she seems to be made to run a little warmer than Christine, but with a constant fan blowing, she's survived about 15 hours in Forza 2 so far, and a couple more hours in Spiderman 3. For 4, she seems a bit slower at loading than Christine was, but that may just be my imagination, as I've gotten used to last generation's consoles' faster loading times during Christine's abscence. No freezes so far, no black screens, just pure enjoyment, so I'm not complaining. Also of note, she's EXTREMELY quiet, and I have to actually be about a foot away from her before her low "hum" comes into audible range. All in all, I like this new girl alot. She seems reliable and ready for a new relationship, and as our stories point out, both of us have had a rough time in other relationships. We've both been left heart-broken, and so I think the fact that we can relate upon that will draw us closer together in these coming, what I hope will be, years. Thanks to all who helped me through my time without Christine, I appreciate it guys. Here's to extended warranties, and lasting 360's, CHEERS!

I bought a used 360 a month ago knowing it was a huge risk since the previous owner purchased it at launch. Sure enough it recently went through the red ring of death parade. However I called Microsoft up and told them that I heard systems made in 2005 could be repaired for free. The agent dodged my question and put me on hold. After about 8 minutes he came back on the line and said that my "warranty" had been extended. Anyway, the are fixing it at no cost which is good, but I have to wait for the long process.StickyShoez
Bascially what happened to me. LOL There is a conspiracy, I tell ya'! Well, my everlasting saga with MS continues....*sigh* Whoever said they are borderline mantally retarded about 3 pages back was correct. I called them before, which I posted here a few pages back. Basically, the rep. said to give them 72 hours, and call back if I still hadn't been updated on my console repair. Soooooo..........Call back 72 hours later, a new rep tells me they are allowed "8-10 days". 0_0 I said "Of the three representatives I've spoke to through this process, NONE of them said it would take 8-10 days...they all said 5." So she says "Sir, I don't know what they told you that for, but the process takes 8-10 days, it is our policy." I said "Okay....thanks I guess". LOL What will the next rep tell me when I call back when it has been 10 days since they've had it? "It takes 10-20 days"?! LOL I can't believe them...they are full retards....all I can say is, if they don't give me my original console back after all this time, then there is SOMETHING WRONG with their heads. I can't believe some organized group hasn't sued them yet....
